We purchased this unit to replace our 12-year old Simpson 9.5kg which finally broke after years of very heavy use, during which it didn't need any spares or repairs whatsoever.
The Westinghouse is neatly designed but I think the glass lid is a pointless extravagance - you can't see much under the dark tint anyway. Although it's a 10kg machine the bowl actually seems smaller than the old one. Speaking of the bowl, if you're a shorter person it's very difficult to reach that last sock at the back and, unlike the Simpson, you can't turn the bow...
Read morel by hand to bring it within reach! On the plus side it's quiet and the spin cycle removes more water than the old machine. It shuts down very quickly when out of balance but the warning beep is so quiet you won't know until you come to empty the machine, thinking it's finished the wash, only to find it's just been sitting there awaiting your input. The Simpson tended to hammer on the wall to get your attention...! After only three weeks we're still getting to know the machine - we'll know if it's as good as the Simpson in about ten years’ time...
