Customer for over 10 years & enough is enough
Had enough, stuck with them to support a smaller company but this is ridiculous most of the day cannot collect emails from a business account.

Wish I could give 0 stars
7-year customer, the quality of service this year is terrible. Internet hardly ever works, and is extremely slow when it does connect. Customer service are clueless, instead insisting I buy a new router when this one is only 6 months old and working perfectly. Even worse than dodo.

Absolutely Hopeless.
As others have said, Westnet used to have great customer service.
Now they are hopeless.
I have been plagued with nuisance phone calls for months. 2 months ago I complained and asked Westnet to put a block on these calls (I am getting 2 or 3 a day, 7 days a week).
I have been promised time and again that their tech dept. would look into it within a week. 10 weeks on and the problem persists. Promise after promise of returned calls to keep me updated. These never happen. Last time I spoke to a supervisor who first promised to email me...Read more
so I had an email link to customer services and then to phone me back the following week to update. Guess what? ZILCH! Here we are two weeks after that and I've had two nuisance calls today (it's the Microsoft Windows scammers, from India is my guess). It should be easy enough to block ALL calls from India?

Once good now just terrible after TPG takeover - look elsewhere
Customer for 10 years and have been totally frustrated with recent experiences. Changed towns and tried to reconnect - customer service - their best asset with local techs has now been offshored with the well meaning people having no idea about anything in Aust or basics..Transferred towns before in 2011 - 3 days and I was and running. Fast forward to 2015 - 15 days later - delays, delay and malfunctions. Phone on for 7 days, now dead - no broadband yet, spent an hour today waiting for call back and 45 minutes with the guys finally concludin...Read more
g I was right about the line for my phone going down and not my equipment. Made 5 calls before this asking about my phone and broadband connections over the last fortnight now I am told it could be another 48 hours before I get a solution. Tech guy garbled something unintelligible about a tech and someone paying - after reading review below - makes me wonder. In summary do your research as the TPG business model appears to have slaughtered westnet's best asset - local techs, responsive services and solutions in one call. Once Great Now Awful
Westnet used to have the best customer support in Australia, with technicians based in Perth. These days you deal with overseas "technicians" who read from a script on their screen and do not have a clue. Poor show iinet!

Poor!
I advice all people to avoid using this provider, as I have had nothing but problems when connecting to the Internet. I find the customer service team extremely rude as I have been on the phone to them many time. They are more interested in selling a maintance man to come out then to actually fix the problem! Never again.....

Useless
Absolutely useless.
Never sort problems when you call. At least 45 minute wait times on calls. Useless service over all. Unbelievably sick of them. Today they tried billing be for services not provided.... Here I go again....more phone calls and hours of on hold waiting

Crap response to questions in tickets
6 weeks back we suffered a major fault in Esk with over 1100 lines out of action. My home phone was back on within 10 days and internet 4 days later. But despite many complaints about my business line (which uses the same physical line as the internet) they now tell me it is scheduled for reconnection on May6th. They just do not respond to questions about the three prior fault reports on the same line over the last 6 weeks. Service and response used to be great but now they expect me to wait up to an hour or more for a callback and when they do call the report the fault has been fixed. It as though they do not understand that I have two phone lines.

Can't complain
After having continual issues with Telstra I signed up with Westnet, they have always assisted me with any issues, have given me free upgrades without me asking. Have always had Australian support staff. Only issue I have is they use Optus as a carrier and reception can be an issue in certain places

Nice part of IINET
My boyfriend had their postpaid mobile. It's pretty decent.
I never had probless with IINET. The one time did the I managed to connect to the tech support in less than 2 mins. That's pretty sweet for a big company like this. Vodafone or optus would sure have left me hanging on the phone for a couple of hours while they got for lunch or who knows even a little vacation.
The new postpaid mobiles look good too but they don't have NOTE EDGE so I had to to Telstra.

Absolutely TERRIBLE!! Used to be good years ago but now RUBBISH
1 hour wait hold times, they changed from all Australian call centers to India & south Africa, clueless staff, noisy call centers make it hard to hear what the heavily accented phone staff are saying.
Westnet WAS the best internet company I had ever used... but now their service has dropped 90%... I have no other way to describe them as utterly terrible.
I have been a customer for over 10 years and their service has dropped off a cliff. Westnet and IInet are the same company.

now they have merged with iinet they have become dishonest
We received a bundle deal which "were" happy with. I few hiccups to start off with but ran smooth most of the time. We moved house a few months ago though into their "adsl zone" which they said would be cheaper and also downgrade our internet plan to save a few dollars but was a bit perplexed a couple of months later when our bills seemed to be unchanged only by about $5 so I ring them up to find that yes they've down graded our internet plan only to find the bundle deal no longer exists and we are just paying for everything individually. l a bit ripped off that we are now paying more for less. Westnet are pretty much iinet by the way. when they were just westnet before the merge they had the honest thing going were youre paying what the bundle says with no surprises but now they have merged with iinet they seem to be dishonest like all the other internet/phone providers. When we changed address they also started our 24month locked in period from the start again so now we are trapped. Will be definately be looking at changing when our time runs out.Similar opinion? Westnet shapes their customers and then denies the fact, total rip off to their customers
Westnet consistently shapes our account and for the 24 month contract we had, we could never send photographs and images. If you want a reputable honest Australian company do not go with westnet. They use overseas call centres and are happy to rip you off in any way they can. They also fob you off when you have a legitimate complaint.
Everything, poor customer service, paying for what you don't receive, trying to get it fixed is a frustrating issue that I havent found a resolution for yet

Westnet was an unhappy experience for me
Westnet - I can't send photos via email and they consistently slow my internet. I have had to go to ombudsman as 3 service operators stated I was getting shaped and did fix my speed again through working together with me to resolve the issue. When seeking compensation for this (12 mths of shaping) case manager stated the operators were wrong, I never got shaped apart from when I went over allowance. get any information correct but are willing to keep taking your money. Whatever you do stay clear of Westnet - if you want straightforward customer service this is not the place to look. They will even attempt to justify why they use overseas call centres while claiming they are still all Australian. Worst ISP Ever!!!!
They do not care about their customers. They only care about taking your money. They refuse to give credit back for an internet connection that was lucky to last for 5 seconds over 3 months. To call a tech out they threaten to charge you $130 call out fee. Do not waste your time!!!!

reliable and easy to talk to a real prson
After terrible service with Telstra big pond, I went with westnet. Although I have had very few problems, when I do they answer the phone quickly and fix my problem very quickly. When I moved house I was without service for 3 weeks. The problem was not westnet but Telstra took 3 weeks to flip the switch to make the lines active. Within 30 minutes of that happening, my internet was active
reliable and friendly servicen
ot always the cheapest but not too far out of market prices

They actually care about you
Have been with Westnet for as long as I remember for an isp and they have always tried to do the right thing, it hasn't always worked out but the effort and intent to assist can never be faulted. Quite the polar opposite to what Telstra offers. Good on you Westnet.
Reliable, relatively inexpensive, customer service!!!!
Still have to rely upon Telstra lines and equipment :-(

I was with Westnet for years and had no problems at all with their tech support apart from maybe having to wait as they were busy. I always talked to an australian that knew how to resolve the problem and they would always talk me through to fix it. They even sent a rep to my house once to see if everything was ok, or they will call back in a few days if they haven't heard from you, just to see if the problem was resolved.The only reason I went with another company was that I wanted to reduce my monthly bills, what a mistake that was..now i have to suffer for 2 years until my contract finishes lol..more fool me.....

Terrible
Though it seems they are trying to provide better customer service than others (and let's be honest, the general standard is pretty appalling) they still don't really listen to you, don't pay attention to what it is you want.
Speak to a real person in Australia who understands English.
