Hi, Im looking at changing my exhaust on my 1998 yamaha xvs 650. Does anyone know if the connection piece that holds the bottom muffler to the rear head pipe does anything other than support? does it have exhaust air going through it? If not i want to cut it off so i can re-use the rear head pipe with new mufflers.
Thanks

Hi, Ive replaced my standard bars with 10" ape hangers on my xvs650 custom. Ive removed cables from their guides but still having abit of trouble with my clutch and throttle cable. When I turn my wheel to far right or left they look so tight. Couldnt find anywhere else, really appreciate if anyone share their experiences. Cheers. Btw I live in Brisbane.

The best price That I could find was for a brand new 2020 Yamaha XVS650 Custom Cruiser motorcycle is
$9,948 Australian Dollars This is a ride away price. You pay the money and you can ride the motorcycle out of the show room. It was on the Bikesales Australia site.

suggest you get it sorted before it goes bang and or puts you on the road. Does it change when clutch lever is pulled in? Increase with engine revs? Need more info to assist.

1999 V Star 650 low end torque problem, starts and idles great but when taking off in first it wants to stall unless you rev it more than I think should be necessary. Any help?

How long have you owned the motorcycle
Purchased last October, problem existed with previous owner.
That is what I thought. It is a fairly old V Star. Mine is a 2006. I have never had this problem or any problems at all. In a previous motorcycle that I had that was doing the same as yours it was the idle jet blocked. When the idle jet is blocked you have to rev the bike harder so that the main jet starts to pass petrol and lets you take off. If I was you I would have the carbs cleaned out. I do not think that it has anything to do with the ignition. I think that a really good carb clean of all the jets and inside the carbs will help the situation. The other thing that can do this is, there are rubber diaphragms on top of the main jet slide one for each carb. Check them out with a really good strong light behind them and just see if there are ANY TINY holes in them. If there are any holes they can not be fixed and you can buy new rubber diaphragms they are not that expensive. I would say that it is either the jets or tiny holes in the diaphragms. Please write and tell me how you are going. From Harry

Got a V Star 2015 classic, has std exhaust, thinking of VH slip ons. Can you change just the std mufflers, or do you have to replace all the pipe?

“Slip ons”
So they slip in to the header pipe. We usually have used sets in parts. 1300115779
With the VH exhaust you only have to change the mufflers so the front header pipes that you already have stay on. I can tell you now that you may not be able to get a VH for your 2015 V Star. Yamaha slightly changed the frame of the V Star in 2006 where the exhaust bolts on at the back. You can buy the VH made BEFORE 2006 but they will NOT fit your 2015 bike so just be careful of that. For some reason it is very hard to buy any VH exhausts for the V Star 650 made AFTER 2005. I could not buy any for my V Star 650 at all. I ended up buying a Delkevic stainless steel exhaust system. They run a full system from the head right through to the mufflers. I payed about 650 dollars Australian for the full system from ebay. It sounds better than any VH system and fits right up onto the motorcycle. It came in a box with all the bolts and brackets and every thing that was needed to fit the system. It takes less than 1 hour to fit it on and being stainless steel it is there for life as it will never rust. With the Delkevic system you can run what mufflers that you want as the mufflers mount onto the headers as seperate items. You can google Delkevic exhaust systems and have a look. They make them for a lot of motorcycles. I have had mine for 9 months now and they are good. Any motorcycle shop could fit them on for you if you do not know how to do it. If this was helpful please give me a like. My Motorcycle is a 2006 XVS 650 Classic Cruiser.

It’s a personal choice based on which look you like. Both great bikes. Both can be customised.
Thank you. Thought that may be the case, just wondered if one was better than the other.
