Terrible
Terrible booking process, plane changed, so seat selection void. Sent us email with wrong details, can’t rebook seats online. Wanted to charge us $25 fee for ringing them to rebook seats!!! Very unimpressed!! Never travel Air New Zealand again!!

Delays
I have recently returned to live back in the home land, New Zealand. Thought I would start visiting different parts of New Zealand to once again enjoy our beautiful country. In the past I never found fault with Air New Zealand. But now. How many delayed flights can there possibly be? And none due to weather. It is almost impossible to arrange a quick weekend away without having one if not both flights delayed. What has happened? Feels as though Air New Zealand has lost that something special which I use to always highlight to others when living overseas. No more, feels like any other airline. Also, very disappointed in the whole rewards program. Very little reward for travel compared to overseas companies. Thanks

Bad service
Booked Singapore Auckland. Flight returned after one hour. Rescheduled numerous times. In total 30 hours delay. Almost no communication. Endless queues. Terrible.

Very disappointed
We booked through a travel agent, no issues there, flight left on time.
We flew premium economy Brisbane to Vancouver via Auckland, no issues what so ever. Seats were comfortable with very generous leg and elbow room, staff were lovely and food one step up from economy, we got what we expected and were not disappointed.
However, the flight home in business class was extremely disappointing. The plane was downright filthy to the point where staff had to clean the entertainment area as well as the tray table and seating area, not the best start...Read more

Loyalty challenged by
Like another reviewer it pains me to write a negative review about Air New Zealand, but over the last few years I have noticed a significant decline in the airline's charges, customer service and reliability.
I've been flying ANZ for 45 years.
I've always been proud of the airline, so it is sad to see its quality in all these areas decline at a consistent rate.
There have been a of myriad of challenges that I've met, from basic lack of compassion - heading to a funeral in North Island, but unable to get to airport because of only road closu...Read more

NO customer service - True Zero rating
I booked via airline partner Virgin Australia. 2 bags to Wellington from Australia and 1 bag return.
Arriving at Melbourne, Australia the service desk said I was not able to check 2 bags in, eventually after showing my online booking stating 2 bags, they allowed the 2 but told me 3 times that I should have checked my booking - even when they saw that it stated clearly 2 bags!
Then on return I arrived at Wellington at 4am to be told I had purchased a "Seat Only" and would have to pay $545 for my suitcase. Yet again I showed my online booking....Read more

Amazing service
We had the pleasure to travel to the Cook Islands last week with Air New Zealand, I have to say this airline was one of the most impressive I have flown with in years.
The air craft was absolutely spotless, the seats were extremely comfortable, though maybe a bit narrow, however the legroom made up for it. The inflight entertainment was extensive.
The cabin crew on our return journey had flow Auckland to Rarotonga then on the 8 plus hour flight to Sydney, at least a 12 hour day, on their feet, though you would never have known, they all had a...Read more

From the 1st to the last flight all were late.costing us extra money to rebook previous domestic flights and a nights accommodation. Not even my seat belt was functioning last flight !! I had to get that seen too, then no custom declaration forms, all this from the start of our holiday to the end.thanks for nothing.when i originally emailed about extra motel and change of flight costs their response was they take no responsibilty.Well what about the 3 other delayed flights? Today not having the forms was the last straw, after engine malfunctio...Read more
n, on flight number 1 i am really wondering how much inconvenience you expect to be acceptable for one couple? Hiding under the unscheduled maintenance and terms and conditions may be "legal" but it is no way ethical 4 times in on one holiday.NEVER AGAIN AIR NEW ZEALAND, after this experience, my husband is a kiwi and always raved about this airline, well even he is embarrassed by the level of poor service and no after sales customer service so far.Even one stewardess said we should have been madder than we were, but as the flight staff were all really nice during the flights i would never take it out on them. When a customer makes a complaint we should be considered worthy enough for adequate polite response, not the cold generic reply i received. I am taking this further as 4 times is totally unacceptable if i failed once or twice i would be ashamed in my profession, let alone such a service to the public like your airline i think you must be the most unethical airline of all these days.Looking at all the negative reviews on product review pages is very alarming. Have you taken any of the criticism on board or just going along, business as usual. Thanks for making the start and end of our holiday very upsetting.Poor people skills, you should be very ashamed causing so many errors on one person/s holiday all at once.SHAME.Similar opinion? Dishonest phone staff in relation to flight refunds!
Unclear policies on flight refund/credits. Different excuses from different staff and managers and never telling the full truth at any one time. Always trying to get rid of queries and questions with rebuffs.

Mother and babies left stranded by uncaring staff.
This review will have no impact because it will just get lost in the mountain of other unfavourable reviews and you as a company obviously don't care so I'm tossing up whether to bother. I will however write it in the hope that prospective clients will read it and realise what a shamefully uncaring bunch you are. A young mother with a 4 year old and a 4 month old is trying to get to the counter and finds when she gets there it is 2 minutes past the time. he airline. I should say used to spend that amount - because they will never fly internationally with the this pathetic bunch again, although they may be forced to fly internally because of the monopoly enjoyed by air nz. How many of us have waited on a plane for a late passenger to arrive!!! In this case they chose to leave a mother and young children ((who are good clients of theirs) stranded at the airport because someone couldn't be bothered sorting the almost miniscule problem out. I wonder if the CEO ever reads these reviews or is he another just worried about counting the money. In order to get on the next flight they were also charged an extra $200 the CEO will be pleased about that. Don't bother replying to me you have not heard the last of this.Similar opinion? Terrible Inexcusable flight changes, delays and no food/catering on plane
Booked direct Business Class flights Perth to Christchurch Business Class both cancelled and rescheduled on unacceptable flight times first through Auckland and finally after much consultation allocated a return flight on Virgin through Melbourne where the flight was delayed 2 1/2 hours . We were allocated on our boarding pass
Gate 12 but in the lounge told to go to gate 4 only to find that the 6.15 flight to Perth had not departed 2 1/2 hours late, sent to gate 12 only to be told to go back to the lounge as the plane was delayed 1 hour...Read more

Air NZ USED to be the best, they are now in the AIRASIA category
We just had the worst, most disappointing AIRNZ service. Unfortunately, this will totally affect how I used to view one of the best airlines in the world.
We searched via skyscanner and then were directed to book our flight on AIRNZ website. We booked- I even looked at their travel insurance and rental car options. We booked, but then we were shown the amount in AUS $. Odd because our search was in NZ and US $. But no worries. We booked AND our credit card was charged. We proceeded to book accommodation and rental cares. I did not receive an ...Read more

Not a good word to say!
Booked flights with air new Zealand as we are going to Auckland, as it was a direct flight. They didn't notify us of the cancelled flight, due to faulty engine. They booked us on to a different flight the next morning with qantas going via Brisbane first, missing a full day of our holiday! When we arrived at the hotel which they booked us in for the night was wrong, as they only booked us into one room for three adult people which was unacceptable. When we arrived to Qantas service desk air new Zealand the next morning, they had not booked us o...Read more

Horrible service
Booked a code shared flight with Virgin Australia operated by air nz. Bought works fare so I can get meals, upon requesting special meal I was told by Air NZ that they can't add it cuz it's codeshare and Virgin told me they can't access it cuz it's operated by Air NZ. I kept going in circles trying to get this sorted with both the airlines without success, meal was important for me as it was a late night flight and I wasn't gonna get dinner after landing. Worst service ever, specially after paying a fortune to get the ticket with meals.

2nd best airline
After booing my flight 12 months ago to have it cancelled last minute with no assistance for an alternative flight we got to walk past the selective seating we had paid for and reserved at $80 pper person so we could sit at the back of the plane. And to make things worse the plane was late Guess the extra money will be regarded as a donation.
Only upside was the cabin crew were excellent but thats not enough to recommend them.

If only i could always travel Air NZ Premium Economy
Booking process online was easy, compare to what other companies offer the phone service is very good (NZ based). Check in seamless, food and beverage is business class quality, entertainment screen is the best in the business (although the quantity of entertainment is less then some others - however there is more then enough to get you through and quantity of flights). Staff and service at the airport and during the flight are excellent and the planes are all up to date and clean.

o Rolls-Royce engine issues) but after a few conversations with the staff over the phone it was handled very professionally and honestly and i was more then happy with the outcome. This review could have gone the complete opposite if not for this. Unfortunately there is not enough people who feel the need to reward high quality service, but will be immediately on the keyboards the moment there is 1 grievance. I feel i speak for everyone on my flight in both premium economy and business class (30+ people), and think of the quantity of flights daily, who either dont have any issues, or recieved the award winning service they expected and didnt feel the need to add to it. If i could fly all my international flights Air NZ prem economy i would definitely entertain the option - and if price was right book.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Terrible airline
We had the meanest stewardess I have experienced in 45 years of flying...[name removed]! She needs to retire! Food was bad, not allowed to switch to empty seats in same class and poor service. Did not come by with water once in 9 hours trans- Pacific. Terrible, terrible.

What extra leg room?
I booked with Virgin but was on Air New Zealand from Auckland to the Gold Coast. This was an early morning flight and, not be young, I paid for extra leg room in an exit aisle. There was no extra leg room and I wouldn't like to see people trying to disembark that way if there was an emergency. I often travel on Virgin and always get a snack or a cheap meal..apparently on this flight I was supposed to order pre flight.
What's happened Air New Zealand? The only good thing now seems to be your advertising.

Air NZ I demand a response
Unfortunately AIR NZ you have left me no other option but to make my request publicly given I booked our air ticket with your Airline and your Airline refuses to take any accountability for our luggage going missing leaving us stranded in NZ for almost a month and my husband in hospital while you and your partner airline squabble over whos accountable the whole time.

ing returned over 3weeks later from Turkey of all countries today you advised I would need to take it up with Virgin Australia I am more than happy to do that but not until your Airline provides me the information I requested as follows: Did or did Air NZ not profit from any proceeds of the sale of my ticket? (I specifically booked a Air NZ flight) if I wanted to book ourselves on a Virgin Australia flight I most certainly would have and wouldn't have gone through all this this trouble. I have always selected Air NZ or Qantas as my prefered Airlines, Air NZ primarily because your our home brand NEVER AGAIN! what it profits are more important than duty of care for your customers? That certainly how it appears to me! Please pm me a response to my question please I have every right to know why your Airline has taken the decision you have ( WASHED YOUR HANDS OFF ANY RESPONSIBILITY) and denied me answer to my question again did your Airline profit from the proceeds of my ticket. NO I WILL NOT GO AWAY I WANT ANSWERS both your airlines cost me precious time with my mum and family and as a result of being handballed between airlines chasing my own damn luggage and my husband suffering almost life threatening seizures due to stress and his medication ending up in flipping Turkey with no offers of assistance or any offer to compensate for our out of pocket expenses/some form of goodwill or advice at all from every one of you YOU BETTER BELIEVE I am not going anywhere I will be taking our story to the media damn straight and I will also be posting all the information I gathered during our ordeal to prevent anyone else going through what we did! 3 weeks or so home and I'm still chasing you lot for a resolution Shame on you'sSimilar opinion? Recently flew Gold Coast to Houston premium economy. The first leg was Gold Coast to Auckland works delux. I was 1 D and 1F was an expectant mother with toddler who she promptly sat in the reserved spare seat between us.wondering what is airnz policy on this situation? I would not go works delux again if there was a chance of this happening again.

The free seat is fair game - airlines generally like to accomodate parents with lap toddlers by offering spare seats if they can. Trust me, your experience would've truly been absolutely awful if that baby was forces to stay in poor mum's arms the whole time (hello temper tantrums!) She didn't break any rules. In other words - get over yourself and have a little compassion, it's survival mode in the air. For goodness sakes the poor woman was pregnant and flying a toddler without help! She deserves a medal!

Emily is wrong. It is a guaranteed empty seat so that you have a bit more room. It is not for a toddler. It should never have been used and is not 'fair game'. You don't pay extra to have a toddler seated next to you. It is Emily who feels entitled and needs to get over herself.
