We purchased a MacBook Air 13" for our daughter to use at uni. After lots of research on whether to purchase windows or Mac for uni, our daughter decided this is what she needed.

She is doing a double degree, so has lots of assignments to do, plus all the usual social media requirements, Netflix viewing and lots of other applications.

We got the student deal, and were also able to put the purchase on our go card, meaning it was interest-free for 18 months too. We purchased it directly from the Apple Store Australia.

I'm a first time Mac user and I am not impressed at all. It is cumbersome to use when working on multiple word documents and pfds. This is probably a whole of Apple issue not just unique to the Macbook Air. It is incredibly slow when opening sub-folders in the Finder (it takes a while until all documents appear) or copying across multiple documents (e.g. from computer to USB). It took almost 10 minutes for about 10 Excel spreadsheets. Microsoft does this in a fraction of time.

I bought a Mac Pro 13 in 2008 and just last year replaced with the 2016 one. The old one is till working without any issues. The only drawback is the cost, however the device lasts forever. It as they pay, you get what you pay.
My old mac pro battery recently started performing poorly while the 2016 one is exceptional. So much better than the other Windows laptop, spend 700 on one and lasted only just > 1 year just after the warranty.

As the title suggests, it truly is a highly polished machine. After having a few windows devices that became contaminated with viruses, I made the switch. The saying is true, "once you go Mac, you never go back." No viruses, easy to use, and are timeless, they don't age. If you're someone who is reading this review looking to purchase one, all I can say is DO IT! Best thing you'll ever do.
