How do you get the grease tray out on the Bugg? Surely you're not having to pull out the U bolt every time? Mine locks in tight so you have to be a contortionist to lever the tabs to release it?
2 answers
Yep, that’s what you have to do alright. Apply firm pressure and try not to bang your hand when it pops out. Putting the U bolt back is easier - just line it up and give it a whack.
Bugger that. I just loosened the screws off so the tray sits a bit lower and will slide out.

Can the Bugg Beefeater BBQ be used without the stand. Ours is mounted on the stand, and just wondering if it can be used without.
2 answers
Yes, you can just use the top without the stand.
Before you separate the stand, make sure you hold the top securely. Then pull the locking pins at the back.
Failed to secure the top while pulling the stand locking pin will result in the top tipped over and damages.
Thankyou

My bugg is missing the screws for the handle. What sort do I need
2 answers
Ring Electrolux they are the ones that own Beefeater. They should send them to you or tell you where you can get them locally
If you're talking the top metal handle, the screw are stainless metric so you can take a sample to Bunnings or a boat shop to find equivalents.

The rubber seal on my Bugg keeps coming loose. Is it necessary to have it on or not?
2 answers
We had all sorts of trouble with ours, the handle fell off, not the one in the top but the one on the bottom. Got that fixed then it would not light properly. Ended up with a big flash of flame . Phoned Electrolux and they gave us a store voucher to be used where we bought it at Harvey Norman. Bought a completely different bbq and no problems since

Why has the rubber strip melted everywhere when my husband was cooking with the lid down? The temperature read 180 on the dial
1 answer
I am not sure if the thermometer is accurate, this bugger can get really hot in a short time.
The correct seal should be made of silicone and it can stands around 260C so if it gets overheated, it should just breaks down bu not melted.
Suggest to check the temperature with a second gauge and replace the seal. It's not cheap, over $30, but it does help cooking faster. There are also two little bumpers at the front of the lower housing. They are easily coming off and lost but they may help the seal on the top hood not to fully touch the lower body so less overheating? You can get them from Electrolux too.

can the stand be folded up on the bigg bugg ?
sorta flat so it will fit in the van when travelling
2 answers
No it doesn't fold, you can only remove the BBQ from the top via a u shaped lock pin
Hi, No mine is a fixed stand so it would need to be unassembled for travel. Bob

Does anyone else have a problem with the beefeater Bugg that when they open the dome kid to remove a roast that the fat and condensation roll down the inside of the dome lid onto the controls at the back and onto the gas bottle and onto the floor ?? If so, how did you combat this ??
1 answer
Clean the inside of the lid after every use, this will be old fat dripping down.

Is there an easy way to fix the rubber around the hood? Its a great Bbq but now the rubber is coming away.
5 answers
Nope. Mine ended up breaking and falling off altogether.
Thanks
It's tricky because bonding rubber to steel can be tricky at the best of times let alone when heats involved especially if that seals already been oily (likely), I've had mine Removed some time now and no issue as the lid gas breathers anyway. If determined go to an auto shop and try hy temp loctite or permatex gasket maker.

Any Bugg Beefeater owner having issue with the left burner?
Mine is making a hissing sound when temp is set at the lowest level. Once I turned it to a slightly higher temp, the sound is gone. However I do not have such issue with the right burner.
1 answer
Yep that happened to mine to the first time I used it. I took it back within 3 weeks of having it. It's terrible take it back and buy a webber. The Bugg is cheap mass produced Chinese junk.
raywstasked
Can someone please advise how to unlock the u bolt, so that I can access the grease tray?
Thank you
3 answers
I returned mine to the show because it was such poor quality and the design is terrible, hence the reason you are finding it difficult to release the grease tray. I think you have to undo bolts to remove it from what I can remember. If I was you return it, get your money back and buy a webber. You will not regret. Trust me.
Just slide it out !
Pull out thats all

I cant control the heat setting, its seems to be on full power all the time, and wont turn the gas off unless i turn it off at the bottle. The temperature control knobs do not seem to work at all. Hard to clean and the bottom try is rusting badly already, we have had it 3 months, what can i do?
1 answer
You turn it off by going to the high setting, pushing the knob in and turn it to off. I agree very strange knobs and the heat gauge on the knobs wears off very quickly. I have an old spray bottle with a strong mixture of dish washing liquid and water and use that along with newspaper to clean the inside. Always turn it off at the bottle as soon as you are thru with cooking.

I have cooked a leg of roast pork twice now and the fat from the roast runs down the inside of the lid and then drips all around where the lid closes on to the base which then drips onto the floor, has anyone else had the same problem ?
2 answers
Yes. Of more concern is that this fat also drips down into the control valves and hoses at the rear of the machine. At best it will clog these up. At worst it could catch fire. I was so disappointed with lots of problems with my Bugg that for the first time I have written a review on the machine on this forum. It comes down simply to bad design and the phone support from Beefeater is so below average that it is unacceptable these days.
I do larger roasts on a trivet sitting in a foil baking dish. Works really well

Deciding from the Ziegler & Brown bbq to the beefeater bbq.
Which one to get ?
2 answers
Never used the Ziegler & Brown bbq. I bought the Beefeater Bugg because of the Beefeater reputation HOWEVER the quality and customer service was a real let down.
Have not used the Z& B bbq, The Bug has been a delight to use. Suggest you look at both for Quality.
I found the Bug was stronger built. The only problem I've had, is that the lettering on the gas dials rubs off when you clean the unit. I scratched new ones into the paint and all was fine.
Have used this BBQ at least a hundred times if not more, as a bbq and as an oven. Love It.

Is the Beefeater Bugg made in Australia?
2 answers
Hi
I don't know! I had a look at the bbq and it isn't on there.
Mostly probably not...but the quality feel it could be as it's very solid.
The Bug is made in China, like everything these days. However it was made to Aussie specifications and as such, is well made.
It is much heavier casting than others of similar type.
My only fault that i could find was the lettering on the gas controls wears off when grease gets on it.
I scratched new ones in myself and it is just fine.
