Looks good but cheap quality

published

Cooks well and has a thermometer but after a couple of years of very light use, the top has warped out of shape and the rubber seal has fallen off meaning the top bangs when closing. I would have expected better quality materials than this.

One of the plastic gas control knobs has always been loose meaning the gas is hard to turn off and on.

As others have said, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned after every use since food falls down under the burners and grease goes everywhere. But this might be standard for this type of BBQ.

Purchased in June 2021.

Expensive, but super sturdy

published

There are many other grills in the market that you can get for a cheaper price, but this grill has an exceptional quality to it. The rubber lining to contain the heat is really thick and does a great job. The iron plates are very sturdy, but can be difficult to clean. It is easily portable and can be taken on camping trips and fits easily in the trunk of cars.

Handy little BBQ.

published

We needed a bbq in an hurry and this one was a great price. It’s portable and looks good in our entertaining area. It’s mostly used for grilling, but has also worked well as an outdoor oven. Really good value for money. Cooks a surprising amount for such a compact unit.

Dangerous Design

published

I find the unit cooks well, Does a great Roast but after 12 months looks like a 5 year old unit. Rubber edging on lid fell off after half a dozen uses & lid enamel after several uses loses colour and has black streaks & Spots.
However main issue is design with location of Knobs requiring your arm to reach over or around hot lid to the back of unit. When concentrating on keeping hands clear of hot surface with domed shape lid I have on multiple times made contact with forearm and suffered burns. Note The higher the BBQ table surface is or the shorter the unit is the more likely this will occur when reaching over or around. Control Knobs should be located on front or side of unit as is Bigg Bugg design.

The best BBQ I have ever owned

published

I can't say enough good things about my BBQ, not only does it like great, it cooks meat to perfection! It is a great size also - not too big, not too small. Perfect for the weekend BBQ with family coming over. It is very easy to clean and easy to move around if needed.

Compact and easy to use

published

Very happy with our new BBQ. It's compact but is at the same time big enough for us to use (family of 4). The only issue we have with it is cleaning the plates afterwards. But other than this, we are very happy with our purchase. Will definitely recommend this for a small family.

Nothing short of wonderful.

published

I bought 3 of these a few years ago for a Holiday Park I ran and was so impressed by them when it came time to replace my own personal BBQ, there was only one choice.
It is compact but has enough height for stand up large chicken roasts, the controls are easy to work out and the finish quality is as good as the rest of the BeefEater range.
It is so easy to move around and/or put away. The removeable wing attachments make the whole thing so much easier to clean up, especially after a big, fatty and messy slow roast.

Great BBQ. Needs Improvement

published

The Bugg is a great little bbq.
Pros:
Plenty of heat compared to its major competitor. Comes half grill, half plate which is great. 2 seperate burners which allows me to only use half the bbq if need be, hence saving on gas. Very good ignition. Unusual with the controls at back of bbq, but got the hang of it. The bbq itself very solid and easy to clean.
Cons:
I found trolley easy to build compared to others experience however it is combersum to manoevre. Need to redesign trolley to move in sideways direction. Fat tray way too small, fills to quickly. A pain when wanting to remove fat tray. The plastic construct a little flimsy.

Overall probably the best bbq on the market, but needs some refinement particularly the trolley.

Disgusted with the dodgy trolley !

published

My husband purchased the Bugg a couple of months ago. We were excited to get rid of our big cumbersome bbq and downsize to a smaller more manoeuvrable BeefEater Bugg. Took ages to put together, and had to redrill screw holes which were out of alignment. Used it last night and moved it no more than 5 foot on the patio. The wheels fell off straight away. Dreadful design. He has now removed the wheels completely and I will be expected to help him lift it into positio every time we want to use it. We were more than happy with the bbq itself, but for the price ( separate to the bbq purchase) it's a total rip off.

Wire Shelf

published

Purchased (Bugg) out door model after 2 months the wire shelf has surface rust all over frame. The Bugg is the best BBQ I have ever had so disappointed that rust spoils the purchase. Not sure how to handle as I paid to get assembled and I am not in a position to dismantle and return to retailer due to health reasons.

Crappy wheels

published

Had the bugg for few days, the wheels fell off in a short 2m push. Called the vendor for replacement, got a new set of legs, tried not to over tighten at all. Same situation of wheels and bolts coming off. Basically just a bad design and not worth the $200 for the stand. At the end, have to resort to some bolts and nuts from Bunnings. Looks aweful but can do nothing much with a crappy design.

Bugg great.

Wow..my bug is unreal...did oysters in shell, prawns and finished off with whole snapper 3 kg. ..amazing...have cooked pork roasts and steaks, snags and skewers. Bought it from Harvey Norman in Busselton already assembled for 600 bucks...A bit more expensive than the webber but loads better. I used my m8s baby webber to cook chops and not hot enough... so looked at reviews and upgraded to the Bugg. So thanks To the great crew as well in busso Harvey Norman I'm cook n with gas....Yum yum.

Baby steps but we got there!

published

I love the look of my Bugg as I chose the bright yellow cover! On special at Bunnings. Found trolley very difficult to assemble - people who can construct IKEA with eyes closed couldn't do it! Contacted Beefeater to no avail. Ready to return until one more person persevered and put BBQ together (no mean task!). But since I have cooked with it I am rapt! Both open and shut to cook with it turns out perfectly every time. And it still looks sexier than a Weber Q!

So I brought a weber 2000, it's everything they say it is. Great cooking easy to clean, designed correctly and not a drop of fat anywhere after cooking a leg of lamb, chicken, steak.

Why has the rubber strip melted everywhere when my husband was cooking with the lid down? The temperature read 180 on the dial

I am not sure if the thermometer is accurate, this bugger can get really hot in a short time.

The correct seal should be made of silicone and it can stands around 260C so if it gets overheated, it should just breaks down bu not melted.

Suggest to check the temperature with a second gauge and replace the seal. It's not cheap, over $30, but it does help cooking faster. There are also two little bumpers at the front of the lower housing. They are easily coming off and lost but they may help the seal on the top hood not to fully touch the lower body so less overheating? You can get them from Electrolux too.
