My Kettle is leaking externally from the water guage, Is there an easy fix for this or is it time 2 replace? I have only had this for 18 months & am a little upset and annoyed that this is happening now. My warranty is now out of date.

You could try a silicone sealant but in my experience, these kettles are designed to die just after their warranty period and I’ve been through 2 of them.

Thanx Daniel, I think ur right just safer 2 cut my losses & buy a new 1. Bit annoying tho, u would think that they would last longer...this time I think I will 'make sure' that I get another brand!

My kettle is leaking internally from the water guage...I am hesitant of applying some type of sealant 2 this as this is internal, is there an easy fix for this, or is it time for a new kettle?
Btw...I have only had this for approx 18months and am upset and a little annoyed that this has come 2 this & it hasnt lasted longer.

I wouldn't add sealant. My kettle is still going strong and is roughly 3yrs old. I would buy another one and swap them over for a refund.

Don't use sealant. I tried it... ie went down that road/path several times. Sealant won't work ... or at least, it's not going to fix it. The only way I managed to get a reliable kettle from one of these, was to remove the handle, then remove the water level indicator gauge, and used a blow-torch technique to weld round metal pieces over the holes where the indicator tubes normally go. In other words, using welding method to plug the holes. And that wasn't easy to do properly, as the kettle's stainless steel plate is rather thin, and it wasn't easy to get the filler metal material to bind to both the stainless steel and the metal plugging material. I managed it though --- once only. And using typical arc-welding techniques won't work, as it will just burn holes through the thin stainless steel.

So, I do have a single BTK615 kettle that really has the holes sealed properly by blow-torch welding. Wasn't straight forward. The result doesn't look fantastic, but it sure works.



Interestingly, at Target, they then introduced a BTGK19 Bellini Smart Tea Kettle, which is a glass kettle. Now, this glass kettle is absolutely fantastic. I purchased one of these. It is a winner. This one doesn't have a water level indicator (as glass kettles don't need a level indicator) and will not leak. Interestingly, the BTGK19 glass kettle works excellently with the BTK615 base (ie. you can put the glass kettle on the BTK615 round base, totally compatible with the base). The reason I chose to do this mix and match (ie. use glass kettle on old base), is because the base of the BTGK19 doesn't operate in the same way as the BTK615 base. Reason ----- they market the BTGK19 as a 'tea kettle', so the BTGK19 base has some annoying programmed features for 'tea' temperature control operations, which are fiddly and annoying, and are just there by default.

However, when the BTGK19 glass kettle is mated with the BTK615 base, the result is a perfect combination. A winner in fact. No leaks - and convenient to use. However, though, the BTGK19 glass kettle doesn't have a push button flip-lid. So you do have to manually remove the top in order to fill water. But this is no problem for me to do.

But ---- very surprisingly --- while the BTGK19 smart tea kettle has probably been on the shelves of Target for a few months or so only, I have noticed that it has been abruptly removed from shelves. Even online links to it appears to have been removed - not just from Target itself, but from everywhere on the internet. You can still maybe find 1 or 2 images of the BTGK19 on the internet. I don't know what the situation is on that one. An interesting development.

Also interestingly, it appears that the BTK615 may have come to the end of the road, as Target appears to have pulled this one off the shelves. This is probably to make way for the BDK20B kettle. This new BDK20B kettle appears to have a different type of plastic for the indicator. So it is highly likely that the BDK20B kettle won't suffer cracking in the indicator plastic (due to thermal expansion and contraction), as the BDK20B indicator plastic appears to be a more durable/flexible type of plastic, not the same type of plastic indicator seen in the BTK615 water level indicator.

So - what I am testing right now is - the combination of the kettle of the BDK20B and the BASE of the BTK615, which are working together excellently. The reason for myself not using the base of the BDK20B is because the BDK20B base doesn't have a digital temperature readout. But - for those that don't require a temperature readout, then I think that the base of the BDK20B will work just fine. There's no problem with it.

Unfortunately, because it looks like the BTK615 has probably come to the end of the road for sales - or so it seems - this means that it's going to be hard to get the nice-featured BTK615 base/stand. I have no problem with the beep feature of the BTK615. I also like the convenience of holding-down the right-most button for commencing a boiling cycle. But fortunately, I managed to stock up on a few BTK615 units, so I have some spare BTK615 bases to be used for spare parts.

So, now that it appears that the BTGK19 and BTK615 are gone - I can use the BTK615 base with the BDK20B kettle. I think this will be a neat combination - because the BDK20B kettle has a push-button flip-lid, and I also believe for the moment that the BDK20B plastic indicator is not going to leak (ie. they probably chose the right sort of plastic material to use this time, as compared with the flawed plastic of the BTK615 water level indicator).

I bought one around 2 hours ago. I got home, followed the instructions, and none of the buttons seem to do a thing. It turned on with the initial C, then displayed the temperature (14). After that, nothing.
The Program button did nothing; whether pressed for just a moment, or for a few seconds. I let it sit for at least the 2 minutes that the instructions say should have it going into standby, but it just sat there showing 14. I held the On/Off button in for at least a minute, and it stayed on, showing the temperature. I powered it off and back on, moved it to a different power point. Nothing.
I thought I'd try hot tap water, just to see. I was somewhat surprised it only reached the very low 40s when back on the base, but still, no buttons do a thing.
It does display the E when I remove the top half to empty/fill, etc., so the electronics seem to know things are happening, but even if the board with the 4 buttons wasn't connected to the rest of the circuit, I'm surprised it fails to go into standby also.
Maybe I'll just consider it a win that it's Thursday night and return it straight away, unless someone sees this in the very short term.

Probably due to the metal contacts of the base not connecting (contacting) properly with the contacts of the kettle. There are contacts that connect the temperature sensor to the electronics in the base (stand). If the springy metal contacts have developed a mechanical problem, or something has gone out of specs with the positioning of the contacts, then that can lead to intermittent issues like that. If under warranty, then it would be best to go for a replacement. These things can happen, but a replacement will usually have that sorted. But unfortunately, the issue is generally not with the base, but with the hard plastic water level indicator. They chose the wrong sort of plastic to use for their indicator --- which is the reason for so many people reporting of water leaks, which occurs when splitting/cracking occurs when the plastic eventually gives in due to thermal expansion contraction. It's likely that the new BDK20B kettle has this issue resolved ..... a more 'suitable/appropriate' plastic has been used for the water level indicator in the BDK20B.

Torx T10 driver, 5 screws and a piece of Blu tac. Makes it about 30% of the noise volume. Now bearable!

I use the kettle for two months now but it stopped working. When I plug in it gives a sound and C sign and 38 and on/off buton stops working. Any ideas?

I may not have the same kettle as you because this one does beep when boiled so that possibly if your not in the kitchen etc you can hear the beeping the one I have is the Bellini stainless steel BTK615 but thankyou any way

The right-most button .... assuming you have your kettle mounted on that round base, then push down the right-most button (and keep it pushed down) for at least 2 seconds. That starts the boiling process.

The digital numbers are showing, but the on/off button doesn't seem to work anymore. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Yep ..... the on/off button is based on those common computer mini switches. Ebay sells them in packs of like 50 or so for just 2 dollars for the whole lot. On ebay, search for something like "Mini Micro Momentary Tactile Push Button Switch 6*6*5mm 4pin". Anybody that likes to tinker with electronics should be able to replace the switch. But if the switch is slightly shorter or taller than the kettle's mini switch, then there may need to be some minor adjustments to be made (eg....sanding down the button to make it shorter). The on/off switch stops working eventually - which is not unusual - as the electrical contacts eventually accumulate some kind of grime or oxidation later. Replacing the switch (which sits underneath that silver round button) will fix everything nicely.

purchased 2 days ago and worked fine for that time but now today it keeps on going on and off and won't reach boiling point....sometimes it won't even turn on. Any help?

(Marshall) as per my review, I found that the problem with mine was in whatever circuitry it has to tell it the "current" temperature. This failed, producing wildly swinging results - and the kettle turned itself off as soon as the supposed temperature swung past whatever it had been set to.

Your description sounds like your kettle is already doing the same (mine took some months). In a way you are lucky it happened so soon after purchase so you can return it.

My (bad) experience suggests that the temperature tracking technology is immature and the product has been sold too early in its development cycle. It may well work in a year or so - but not yet.

Marshall is right. The issue might be with the circuit that is meant to monitor the water temperature. It may have failed. Or the spring loaded contacts (with the three very shiny silver things that can be seen when you peer into the concentric circle stand/base --- ie. the digital controller base) are not properly contacting the kettle's electrodes.
Obviously, it is absolutely important (for safety) to unplug the appliance from the wall ..... to remove electrical power before tinkering with any part of the digital controller base. I know that oxidation layer or grime can accumulate on those shiny contacts (that we see when we peer down into the concentric rings) of the digital base. I usually need to use a tooth-pick to lift one particular spring-loaded contact, and then use a tiny screw-driver to scrape away some accumulated dirty stuff ---- so that the contact looks nice and clean again...... which fixes my issue of wrong (or too low) temperature readings. Too low temperature readings due to extra electrical resistance caused by oxidation or residue on contacts can prevent the kettle from shutting down the boiling process ..... because the incorrect temperature never reaches 99 when there's too much electrical resistance. When I clean the shiny contacts ----- the kettle always works properly again (in terms of getting the correct temperature again).

Does anyone use the keep warm function on the Bellini Digital Kettle, and how long can you keep it on and warm. Does it work like a small urn?

My kettle doesn't have a keep warm function but it does tell you the water temperature at all times, even after standing for long periods of time . You can set it for whatever temperature you want, so if it said 26c and you wanted 40c or less you set it for 40c and lift it up when it reaches the desired temperature. The longer it stands the cooler it gets and isn't like an urn.

Our Bellini kettle has stopped working it tries to boil but has number on the screen like 111,222,333,444 when you press each button everything else works fine but this is stopping the kettle from boiling. Any ideas?

Sorry no idea. How old is it? If under 12 months take it back to the retailer, but if it is older you may have to consider binning it and buying a new one.

Yes its fairly quite the only load part is it chimes/beeps when boiled or gets to the temprature chosen

The noise when it is working is not much different to other kettles but the beep when temperature is reached is loud.

Not sure if this is the problem but the kettle turns itself off after a short time as an energy saver. The on/off button needs to be held down for 3 seconds to turn it back on.

Hi I also find that by holding the on/off button down you can put the kettle to sleep or wake it up from standby mode, also by switching the power off at the wall for a few second and back on again turns the display on again

There's no button for turning off the beep, but I'm pretty sure that the source of the beep (possibly on the circuit board inside the base of the kettle) could be physically removed by somebody that knows how to find and remove it.

We have just bought this kettle and it seems after about an hour of non use the kettle turns itself off and to boil water we have to turn the switch off at the power board take the kettle off its stand and then it is ready to start the program function to boil. It seems very long winded ... is there any way around this or do other people find this is the case?

Sorry but I always turn mine off at the switch after it has boiled.

Quite simply - it is faulty. The instructions do not warn you that it will turn itself off like this. Mine, which is going back today, is similar, but mine wont work again unless it has been UNPLUGGED. It seems this is not the lovers-of this-kettle's, same experience, so therefore ours are faulty. Faulty or not it is more than 'long winded' or annoyingly frustrating, it is simply "not fit for the purpose" Oh and for the record add me to the list of anti-beepers!

I am returning my #2 exch. -the same model today, for the same problem as before. I spoke to Bellini Tech. (1300 373199) who informed me it was shorting out and must be returned.... I have decided to test my Target branch whole stock if necessary - since at least others here don't have this problem. lol

Hi there Chrissybabe,you just tap the program button and enter - or + button for 40 50 60 70 80 90c and tap power button and your good to go.I think it last about 1hr.Regards ozmick.

For what’s it worth, I must say the good thing about the Jug is the temperature regulating facility which will keep the temperature at the setting one selects
