Single Camera DR650S-1CH

Coming up to 3 years. No complaints, even when switching phones. I am disappointed though with it apparently not being able to utilise the cloud. The 2ch and above models apparently do, but if the 1ch does... I haven’t been able to get it to work. :(

Hi my dashcam doesn't keep accurate time after it has been shutdown for the night. When I set the time on first use its fine. When I restart the car the next day the time doesn't update. I have the magic power pro installed and portable Wi-Fi for upload to the cloud during park mode. I turn the dashcam off at night. Any suggestions would be appreciated? Thankyou

Hi Heath, This can be caused by a number of factors below is the best way to see if it is hardware or soft ware related. Either way we can get it resolved.
1. Ensure you have the latest firmware on your camera

2. Perform a GPS time sync. Wait for the blue GPS light to turn on, then hold the format button on the camera for 12 seconds until the camera beeps. (This will delete all file from the SD card)
If the camera continues to loose time when switched off, the RTC may need to be replaced.
To have this replaced, please follow the warranty/returns procedure on the link below:

Alternatively your retailer should be able to facilitate with the return.

I I just got my 650s swap, the old stopped working.
I connect the camera's wifi and it is connected to iPhone X, but Blackvue APP v 2.79. comes with a popup. Not connected to blackVue Wi-Fi Please connect BlackVue Wi-FI and try again. NO / YES.
press NO and nothing happens, press yes and i will be sent in blackvue iphone settings where i can change siri and mobile data settings.
During WI-FI, iPhone is still connected to the camera. Help.

Apparently there’s different software for different countries so take it back to where you bought it from. Also, only special micro SD cards work properly. Best to take it to the dealer and let them sort it as you’ll spend hours getting nowhere. Cheers.

Hi Rexen, this is a compatibility issue with the new iOS released a few days ago. BlackVue are currently working to resolve the issue and will release an app update soon. My car has the BlackVue DR650S 1CH fitted with Magic power Pro, recently there is an issue that after it worked for the day and parked overnight, it wont work after starting the car next day, there is no GPS nor Wifi lights on which means no power through, I have to unplug the wire connection and plug on again to reboot the Cam, then it works for the day and parking at night, but again the cam doesn't turn on itself when starting the car next day. I understand the magic pro may have stopped the power because of low battery level but shouldn't it will reinstate the power once I key start the car the next day? Please advise if there is a reason for the issue and what can I do to get it right. Thanks a lot! Raymond

Hi Raymond,
I would check how old the car battery is and all the wiring to the car and the camera. One other thing would be to check the timing of the how long you want the camera on parking mode on. It may vary from car to car, if you have done all of that I would contact support from Blackvue Australia for advice

My car Porsche Macan S is less than 8 months old, the Power Magic Pro setting is 24 hours and 12.5 volts, I am pretty sure that the wiring is correct as such issues only happened previously. Now I have to manually activate the cam by unplug and plug on the cam after key starting my car, then it works for the day and overnight parking, just it wont work the next day after key starting. I recently installed a blackvue DR650S-1CH together with the Power Magic Pro. All seems well but I heard a rumour that if involved in an accident this camera does not protect the relevant file from being recorded over. Can anybody confirm or deny this. If true, is switching off the camera the only way of retaining the image?

Hi Terry, I can confirm that the DR650S-1CH does not have 'Event Locking' so all files will be overwritten when the SD card is full. We have asked the manufacturer to include this feature in future firmware updates, we hope they add this handy feature :)

I want run my camera across two vehicles, one is 24volt supply and the other is 12 volt

Yes your camera will work between 12V-24V. You can use the same cigarette plug that came with your camera for power.

Hi to everybody,
I have bought the dr650s about 1 year and a half ago and now it doesn't turn on.
What happened was that I sent my car in for some repairs on the engine and left the camera connected. The garage had the car for almost 4 weeks and when I got it, they said they turned the camera off because of privacy rules.
The camera was working fine before I left the car with them but now when I connect it to the power supply the blue led for GPS turns on it stays on but doesn't record or anything else. No voice startup, wifi/card format button doesn't do anything and I can't connect to it so now I'm wondering if the camera is dead or there is a way to actually turn it on or off and I don't know.
The camera was always connected via PMP.
I tried connecting it to a friend's car who has a dr750s but the same thing happens ( blue led for GPS on and nothing else further).
I have no warranty left on it and any advice is more than welcome.

Is there a card in it?. If GPS light is coming on then you would think there is power. No card no recording. If not contact Autoblackbox in WA even though it is out of warranty there is a consumer warranty if it is a warranty issue.

The card is in and working, I've formated it with blackue windows app but still no luck. I've tried running without card as well but nothing, not even the voice of the camera doesn't start. As for power, yes, it does receive power because if I disconnect it from it's plug the gps led turns off after a few moments and when I connect it again it goes on but only that led, not the front or back for recording.

Did you ask "How" they turned it off...maybe they fiddled with or unplugged the Power Magic Supply

Is there anyway to have more than 3 seconds recording while moving? It’s really annoying to have a hundred 3 second clips from one drive.

Hi John, It doesn't sound like you have a BlackVue, as they do not record in 3 second segments. By default any BlackVue is set to 1 minute recordings, but you do have the option for 2 and 3 minute recordings as well.
Perhaps contact your retailer to find out what brand you have and see if they are able to offer some assistance?

I've had camera installed with Power magic pro by auto electrician. GPS will not work although light is on. When I go to BlackVue Wi-Fi settings and try to connect to firmware settings the app crashes repeatedly. I did a firmware update to v1.011 today but still no joy. Camera seems to get extremely hot. Unit is only about 5 days old ?? can I swap at Auto one for a replacement?

Gregory, could just be a factory defective item.
I would firstly contact Auto blackbox (08) 6267 5167 the Australia supplier. They are awesome.
They will be more than happy to help and will advise of the necessary course of action.

You can also contact the store where purchased and explain the issues. They should offer you a replacement in line with your rights under Australian consumer law, as the item does not function as it should therefore is not fit for the purpose it was purchased for. It is also under warranty.
I’d also be taking in your receipt for installation to prove it was installed professionally.

As you have everything hard wired, you may be able to just replace the camera itself and see if that makes a difference. If not, the issue may be in the wiring.

Either way, you will have your issue rectified.
They are great cameras and the Australian support team are customer focused and know their products well.

I recently bought a DR650S-1CH.
I do not want any recording once i park my car and switch off the engine. Is there a way to stop recording?
My car power outlet always has the power on, even after engine is off. So what do I do? Can I keep the camera connected all the time? Is it safe? I think if I keep it connected the camera will be on always and might drain my cars battery.

You can use either the Power Magic Pro, or simply unplug the camera from the power outlet. When you want to power the camera, just plug it back in.

DR650S-1CH and Samsung Galaxy S5 phone wifi problem.
When I try to connect through the app search wifi option I get a message that it is connected but then that is followed my a second message cannot connect and the blackvue wifi icon is greyed out.
If I connect to the cam through the phones own wifi connect option it connects and the cam blackvue wifi icon is no longer greyed out, However when I click It I get a wait message then nothing. I cannot see anything in files etc.
I have updated the firmware to the latest available to see if that helped but still the same.
Any ideas?

Sorry to hear your having issues with your camera. Have you tried power cycling the phone and camera? Also have you checked the phone OS is up to date? Finally have you tried connecting with a different smart phone?

Hi, purchased the 650S-1ch in June. All work fine, well it did. On playback in PC, used to show GPS with map on recordings. Playback now, the GPS/maps are not there. Even on the 1st cards recorded. Most of my cards have only been used once. Any help please?

For the maps to work on the PC player, please ensure the PC is connected to the internet and the Player is up to date.
Also can you confirm the blue LED is on when the camera is recording?

Hi, thanks for your reply but, yes the blue light on camera is on when recording. And PC is connected to the net.
I should have mentioned, looking at older sd's where the gps/maps were shown, but now don't show.
I have tried to download a newer version for my PC. It just downloads the same one.
Spoke to supplier, answer was, use card supplied and reformat. Done that. Used card today, no maps.

If there is no speed displayed on the video footage, you may have a faulty GPS in the camera. If this is the case please follow the link to return the camera for assessment.

If there is speed, I suspect there is an issue with the PC or Player. You can test this by saving a file to your smart phone and reviewing that file once the phone is connected to the internet again.

Hi Yarithssia,
Thanks for your enquiry. It sounds like the camera has been installed upside down. The easiest way to fix this is to remove the camera bracket and rotate it 180* and reapply using the spare adhesive pad in the box.
The 650S-1CH does not have a specific night view, however with the correct set up the footage is good quality.

Good day, i am using my new DR650S-1CH for about a week now and i have noticed that the settings are going back to factory default (SSID and password, timezone, etc) for 3 times now in a span of a week. Therefore, when i have to reconfigure again it will prompt to delete all the footage for the reason that the timestamps are incorrect as well. Do we have permanent fix for this? I have the latest firmware installed.

I have the Blackvue DR650S-1CH. The unit works great however it is interfering music streaming, Google Maps, and other apps. I have tried both connecting my iPhone via a USB cable or Bluetooth however am unable to run any other apps. I have tried running with & without wifi hot spot but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

I'm just trying to gain a better understanding of your issue. Is the music still streaming with interference or is the streaming not working at all? I have found that when connected to the camera via wifi, my iPhone is looking to that wifi connection (the camera) for an internet source. That means anything requiring internet to work will not. I have to manually go in and disconnect from the camera wifi connection (sometimes even 'forget' it) so my phone doesn't automatically connect to it. Then my phone works fine. Hope that helps.

Hi Blackvue,

I have DR650s-1ch .. I have had it only for 4-5 months. Now very frequently when I am driving and I am pretty much driving in my own and no one bothering the camera or any interference the camera says "audio recording on" and after sometime it says "audio recording off" on some instances it says the start up command " Blackvue for your safe driving" and like that.

Is it shutting down on it own. And is it sort of having dramas with recording function in the camera. It's just a new cam and I spent quiet a bit of money.

It is connected into the car charging port which is working fine becuse I can connect the other devices and it works fine.

Can you please help me getting the issue sorted. Thanks for your help in advance.

For faults such as this, we really need to get the camera back so we can completely test the camera and inspect the log files on the SD Card. Hi, I installed DR650 1ch and magic pro. It worked fine and went into parking mode, but after a few hours, I started the engine and camera didn't start. I switched the magic pro of and then on green light came on and the camera started to record. Unfortunately next time I started the engine same thing happened. Can you help me, please?

It seems you may have not wired the Power Magic correctly. Can you confirm the Red wire is to Ignition and Yellow is to Constant? If this is not the case you will experience the problem you have described.

It seems to me that I've some problem with my (DR650S-1CH). After switching it on, it say "Staring normal recording" orange light blinks, and than after a couple of minutes It says "Restarting" orange light stays solid, when I checked recording, there no recording on micro SD.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Dan,

Are you able to confirm that you are using a Genuine BlackVue SD card? Sometimes using 3rd party SD cards will cause the camera to restart due to slow SD card speeds.

If you are using the Genuine BlackVue SD card and this is happening, then I suggest emailing me your config and system file from the SD card.
