Hi
I have a Bosch Serie 6 wash & dry machine I was wondering when I wash my towels they always come out quiet hard even when I use fabric softener. If I put them in the wash & dry cycle which goes for four hours they are nice & fluffy. What cycle can I use that will be best to get them fluffy and not take so long?
Thank you.

Hi Donna, thanks for your question.
It has been found with front load washing machines across the market that towels can be found to be flat and hard to the touch. The wash quality in a front loader is of a very high standard and the high spin speed can cause the problem.

To solve this problem we would suggest a few things:

1. Reduce the amount of detergent in the wash, so for a full load of towels, only use a quarter of a scoop or cap. Overdosing detergent will also cause hard stiff clothes, not just towels.

2. Make sure you use front loading only powder.

3. Reduce the spin speed on the cycle to about 700 - 800 as a higher spin will squash the pile on the towel as they hit the drum.

4. When the towels are taken out of the machine, give them a good shake to fluff up the pile again before you put them on the line.

5. Try not to leave the towels in direct sunlight on the line as this can scorch the fibre and make the towels even harder.

6. If you have a Dryer at home, you can try putting them on a low temperature for a few minutes and that should bring them back to life.

These suggestions should improve the quality of the wash for your towels and there should be no need to use fabric softener.

Hi I have a WAW 28460AU Serie 8 front load machine. I usually use the MIX program and the default spin speed is 1400. I reduce it to 1200 but I would prefer a 1000 spin speed but apparently it is not an option since it goes directly to 800 from 1200. Is there a way to have a 1000 spin speed.
Also, is there a way to save the cycle you usually use so that you dont have to keep on changing the spin speed?
Please let me know. Thanks

Hi M Tina,
Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WAY32540AU Washing Machine.
The spin speeds for each cycle are automatically set as per the program, there is no option for a 1000rpm on the mix cycle.

I have a Bosch front loader with a cold water inlet only. Is it possible to buy an attachment to allow us to connect both hot and cold water faucets to the existing water inlet hose? All my other washing machines have had two water inlets and I prefer to be able to use our already heated solar hot water when it is available instead of heating cold water in the machine.

Why does the spin speed reduce from 1400 to 800 on the cotton cycle?

Bosch Home Appliances

Hi Jayvee,
Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WAY32540AU Washing Machine.
The spin speed will decrease during the cycle if the machine is unbalanced, it will keep dropping the spin speed in an attempt to level out the load.

Hi. just purchased a Bosch waw 28460au, how do I use cold only? I'm selecting cold wash but each wash is hot even the wool wash. Also can you do spin only? Thankyou Elizabeth

Bosch Home Appliances
Bosch Home Appliances ·

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WAW28460AU Washing Machine.
To select cold wash, please press the temperature button until the snowflake symbol appears. If you are doing this and the wash is still hot, please check that the washing machine is connected to the cold water tap only. The washing machine heats the water so a hot water connection is not necessary.
To select spin only use the Rinse/Spin program and press the RinsePlus button at the top of the screen to turn off the rinse. Instructions on setting the machine to spin only are on page 15 of your user manual.
If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss further.

I bought a Bosch washing machine in March & keep finding that the cycles take much longer than they should - especially the mix wash on speed perfect which is supposed to take 45 mins but seemed to take 90 mins instead. Sometimes I check the time & it says 32 mins to go then I go away & have a shower etc & come back & it's saying 42 mins to go. It's very frustrating never knowing how long it will take & seems to still be an issue even if I wash in cold water. Why is it doing this? Is my machine faulty? It seems to have been doing this since I bought it.

Regarding the Bosch WAY32790AU. Can you use the spin dry function ONLY..? If you can what speeds can you go up to...?

T1NT1N
T1NT1N ·

Yes you can - you need to select 'additional programs' on the selection dial and scroll through the options to 'spin'. I believe you can change the spin speed under the options to anything in the full range of what the product offers (800-1600rpm I think....I usually use 1200rpm so can't remember range off the top of my head).

I am disappointed with he performance of my new Bosch front loader washing machine. As I have a small B&B business I am always washing towels. Up until now I have always had clean white fluffy towels using my 20 yo top loader. Was encouraged by sales person to buy a Bosch and find it leaves towels rough and seems to twist the pile. I have tried all suggestions from Bi-carb and vinegar, reduce spin cycle, shake out towels etc etc. Even with the towels quite wet it is impossible to shake out the twisted pile. I can no longer offer fluffy towels as most people prefer and wonder if this is progress with an expensive Bosch machine. What is the answer ??

Is the 8.5kg weight capacity of these in 'wet weight' and therefore extrapolated from what the machine measures as dry weight when you're loading it? How many normal sized towels will it wash at one time?

Jum
Jum ·

I can't really answer about normal towels but it will do:

2 bath sheets
1 bath mat
1 face cloth
1 hand towel

The weight is calculated when loading the machine which can be a bit annoying as I will soak things in a bucket first as I don't want pre soakers sitting in the machine for hours. These soakers tend to loosen the dirt but the chemicals and dirt then clog the internal hoses etc.

I use the towel setting and set additional water level as I believe this helps condition of garments. Garments are still harder than they would be if a top loader was being used, no doubt in that after 1 year use now!

T1NT1N
T1NT1N ·

The product weighs the load as you load it - nothing to do with wet or dry as such because it weighs the load and obviously a soaking wet towel will weigh more than a dry towel. If you are really concerned at packing the washer to 100% loaded and are concerned the wet towels limit what you can put in why not spin the towels first (additional program - select spin) then reload weighing at the spun out weight. I have washed 10-20 towels of various sizes with the 8.5kg eco wash cycle - basically I load until the washer indicates it is 100% full and never been disappointed with the product. Love the ability to load and walk away especially as we are on tank water and although the eco cycle takes longer at full capacity I have other stuff to do rather than sit and watch it wash.

Hi. I just bought a Bosch front loader machine.
I am wondering which program I should select for washing towels?
For washing sports clothings, should I clean the fabric softener draw before washing or the fabric softner will not be used automatically in the sportswear program?
Thank you!

The Darley Llama
The Darley Llama ·

Hi Joan,

My comments are only from personal experience, but I wash towels on the mixed load cycle as the cottons cycle is way too long. Regarding sports wear, I would do the same. The short cycles, such as the Fast 15 seem never to drain and spin the clothes properly.

Hope that helps.
