Great little product
Purchased this for grinding spices. If you grind the spice long enough, it will eventually becomes powder. Used this to create powdery seaweed and it works very well. A little noisy, but that's normal for this kind of product. Haven't used it for coffee so I cannot comment on that

Perfect for spice grinding
Recently bought it for dry herb grinding: good( grinds dry herbs like cinnamon, cumin, pepper, well), easy to use n clean....Bad( doesn’t grind too fine)... however, price wise it’s ok... normal price is $ 49 in Sydney... I got it for $ 40 at bing lee..I recommend this product ( breville)rather than from other brand ...

Looks good and sturdy manufactured.
Nice stainless look and chops coffee beans Ok but may be better for other things that are already finer (seeds, spices, etc).
Not as noisy as I thought it would be.
Don't overload (over fill) the machine. Better to do two small grinds than one large one.
You get a better cut/mix that way and won't burn it out.

Just what I wanted
I've got into Indian and Malaysian cooking in a big way lately and was finding the old mortar and pestle hard going, This grinder is a dream with spices. Quick and easy easy. Does a great job and easy to clean. In the past I've had a similar device. This one is much superior although at $50 a bit overpriced.

so handy, and easy to use
I have been using this to grind coffee in the morning. Just use it for short pulses and grind it a little longer depending on your desired fineness. It is so handy and so easy to operate. I just leave this on the counter, since it does not consume much space.

Reliable quality, easy to clean.
Had it for about 5 months. Excellent quality and great price – other reviewers have mentioned motor burnouts, ineffective grinding. Just stick to the maximum quantities listed on the user manual for each spice & you won’t have any issues. Far more economical that similar options and very easy to clean too!

Love it
I bought this grinder when my brilliant Braun one died after only 15 years! lol Which is no longer available.
i use it for coffee beans - i need to do short pulses rather than continuous grind in order to get even sized particles for my plunger.
Also excellent for the other extreme - cardamom seeds, etc.
I have two issues - Same problem as Ristina W - in order to get all the cardamom out of the lid and the stainless steel bowl I use a skewer to loosen the bits around the base (especially with almonds etc)$47, and then a 1' paint/pastry brush...Read more

Good Spice Grinder
I've had this grinder for almost a year and use it about once a week to grind linseeds and spice mixes (cumin, coriander, pepper, fennel seeds). I like the fact that I can grind small amounts of spices, linseed, etc and would have liked it to grind my spices to a finer powder.
Press and release action works well. It's good to see spices grinding through the transparent cover. However food particles (spices, linseed) get stuck inside the transparent cover and difficult to clean and remove them totally.
Removable stainless steel bowl isn't...Read more
as easy to clean as little bits of food gets stuck, particularly around the plastic base of the grinding bowl. It would be great if "the Coffee & Spice" grinder had a higher, powerful motor and came with an extra stainless steel grinding bowl especially one for grinding aromatic spices and another one for less aromatic things. The price of this grinder is reasonable and even better when it is on sale. I would have given this grinder 4 stars if it was easier to remove food particles. Anyway, I hope this grinder lasts as this is my third spice grinder that I have tried (Breville Bar Vista Coffee & Spice grinder, Sunbeam Auto Grinder II and were horrible).Similar opinion? Lasted 2 months
Used it every day for 2 months, usually between 10-15 secs at a time, until yesterday morning when the motor started sounding odd and there was a plastic burning smell with some visible smoke. I will talk to the supplier and get a replacement. When it worked it worked quite well, so hopefully they fix the motor issues.

I received my replacement from the retailer and it hasn't skipped a beat since then, so pretty happy with the product all in all. I will put in another review of 4 stars

Broke after 4 months
Was given this grinder for Christmas. Was working ok until today when it stopped working suddenly and smoke was coming out of the motor. This is very unsafe and there was a smell of burning plastic. I rang Breville customer service and they could not offer any help except to say to take the receipt back to place of purchase. I explained was unsure if have receipt as Christmas present - they were uninterested, did not even take note it was burning.

Breville BCG200 Coffee Grinder it didn't last long
Purchased the Breville BCG200 coffee grinder only a couple of months ago, used it exactly 3 times all good. Well the fourth time it started grinding then stopped, then I saw smoke coming out of the motor area. Looking at other reviews its hit and miss. I will let you know what type of customer service I get from Breville.

Breville just sent me a new one and it's already breaking
So I used to have the older version of breville's spice grinder but after a year it broke so I bought this new one from Breville, BIG MISTAKE. After using it 3 times it broke so Breville gave me a new one. I have used the one they sent me 4 times and I can already hear it's breaking, it makes an awful grating noise, even when nothing is in it. I'm reckon it's going to last 2 more times before it kicks the bucket.

good grinder but had flaws
This is good for the price range however a few flaws.
1. It doesnt grinder to 'very fine' powder like the ones from the supermarket.
2 some powder gets stuck at the blade mechanism so you need to rinse it a few time and prey the bottom plastic cover open a bit to get the bits out.
Other than that it is a good simple grindet.
Have been using it for the last 2 month
Will buy again.

An Excellent Grinder
I recently purchased the Breville coffee and Spice grinder as a direct result of researching other people's reviews on Product Review. Thank you other contributors, saved me a lot of time. Previously had a Cuisinart which didn't last and twice the price.
The Breville was purchased at Myer, retail price $49.95, sold to me for $42.65 so very happy with the price.
It is quiet and grinds quickly . The best part is easy removal for washing and one hand operation. A very neat little unit.
Just one suggestion, don't put any parts in the dishwasher, I am quite convinced that this causes corrosion and as a result loosens the shaft for the blade.

Cheap and handy!
Totally worth of buying, especially during Boxing Day big sale. Got mine $40 plus 3 years warranty for $15. It's a handy tool, now I grind my coffee bean everyday, works fine so far. Easy to clean, easy to use ( just press and release) it says multi purpose, haven't try on any spices or seeds. It definitely a good tool for small kitchen and small family.

Amazing grinder!
Small and nifty grinder for everyday use. I have recommended this to my friends and whoever bought this had nothing but praise.
I grind spices everyday and its powerful motor can grind everything in an instant. It looks really good as well. Even though its a bit more expensive than other grinders, you wont be disappointed, its worth the money.

Does everything i need it to do.
Very simple, cheap, no frills grinder. It has a simple mechanism, a powerful motor and grinds quickly and finely.
I use it mainly for grinding spices, it chews through touch cinnamon quills no problem, and in my opinion fresh cinnamon tastes amazing compared with the pre-ground stuff.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a simple yet effective grinder.

So much easier and better than the basic coffee grinder for spices!
I go through these type of grinders doing a lot of spices for pickles, curries and other spice mixes. This one, with the detachable grinding bowl (which has a bigger capacity than others) is so much easier to use and especially to clean!
Emptying the ground items out into a bowl is so easy and there is no issue with turning a whole appliance up-side-down to get them out.
With a motor much powerful than the slightly cheaper models - I expect this grinder to last me so much longer than the others.

Can I make chutney with this? Like with fresh corriander, mint, green chillies with some water.

I am desperately looking for a stainless steel grinder.

It will certainly smash up coriander seeds (did you mean seeds?) very effectively - i use it for flax and sunflower seeds and it is amazing, just a few seconds! Don't know about the other ingredients you mentioned but can't see why it wouldn't be fine except (!) that the blade is at the bottom so it may require ingredients to fall to this level and possibly fresh leaves, mint etc may not. Maybe a "blender" would work better for you? Bear in mind too, the container is quite small so you'll have to use small quantities. The bowl is removable so quite easy to detach and wash out.
Thank you very much for your answer.
