I use the timer to set up the coffee at night to be automatically turned on at 6 AM. The red light comes on, the coffee is brewed, and when we have breakfast there is no delay. The red light, and the warming coil, remain on for two hours, and then automatically turns off. This routine works pretty well, but after about a year the whole thing burns out. The last three units have been within warranty period, so we got a new unit from the retailer.
Overall, we're happy.

Does anyone know how to disable the 2 hour turnoff feature?. I like to make a carafe of coffee in the morning and have the coffee "on tap" for the rest of the day, 3 hours between mugs means a cold cup of coffee. Breville Customer Service were unable to help.

You can't turn it off, it's a safety issue

If it is programmed to turn off after 2 hrs why can't the user re-program it to turn off in 4, 6 or 8 hrs? If it was a serious safety issue the user would not be able to turn it back on for a specific period. One second after it turns itself off, the user is able to turn it back on.

Does anybody know how to increase the temp of the hot plate, that keeps the coffee hot through the day?

The machine cannot keep the coffee hot through the day because after 2 hours it turns off. A better question should be can this 2 hr turnoff feature be disabled or at least extended to say 12 hrs

You should probably make fresh coffee after 2 hrs as the coffee is burned & tastes old by this time

It keeps it pretty hot but not as hot as if you made it from the kettle
