Breville has rebranded their Cafe Venezia Espresso Machine to the Compact Café. The product remains otherwise the same.

Hi there,
I have just inherited this machine, and when trying to make coffee I get a fine strong jet of water spraying into the cup from the center hole instead of coming out of the two sides of the filter eject system. Sorry in advance if this is an ignorant question, but this is surely not normal. I have tried cleaning the filter but no change. What am I doing wrong?

It says you can use the spanner in the cleaning tool to take the end off the steamer to clean it. Which way does the end turn? Clockwise or anti-clockwise? It is quite tight, and I don't want to force it the wrong way!

Sorry can't help you there, I've only got the cleaning tool for the steamer wand not a spanner.

How to remove the tools from the storage?
1 answer
The milk steamer cleaning tool is to the left and under the canopy, where the start button is. Just pull the tool from the front and lift down.

What is the size of the steam wand, hole as I am looking to get a steam wand, cleaning brush and can't find size.

There is a cleaning tool on the left hand side of the machine, under the canopy. Check that out first. That will give you an idea of the size, but it's around 1.5cms. wide.
Thank you =)

See where the power button is, to the left, underneath that, keeps your spike for cleaning the milk frother. Hope this helps.

Where I find the serial number and batch code so I can register my Breville BES250
3 answers
Sorry that I don't know, I've got the manual and receipt, which is where you register your machine, via their website...as it says on your manual.
It might be on the box it came in? I don't have mine anymore, so can't be sure. Sorry, again.
You can always go to the Breville website and ask there.

Hi... I just bought a new BES250 unit. It worked fine until yesterday. When I turned the power ON. The red light is on but the loud sound was gone. Only small amount of water came out from the filter. I've tried to switch to steam, the result was the same. Is the pump not working? What should i do to fix the problem?
1 answer
get the little pin out from under the top and clean the bit where you put the coffie in by pushing the pin in to the tiny holes, sounds like coffie granules are blocking the filter.
With the steamer make sure it’s not blocked with milk also clean the end of the nozzlewith the other end of pin

Hi there, we have a Cafe Venezia and repeatedly have the same problem! The plastic section immediately behind the drip tray keeps melting in a v-shape and more water then seems to start collecting under the drip tray. We took the first one back to the store we bought it from, when we noticed this was happening. They gave us a replacement machine and after approx 8 times of using it, it has started to happen again!! We never leave it on, switch it off immediately after using and only use it twice a day anyway. Besides this, we really enjoy the machine but feel that this is a pretty serious problem. Anybody else have the same issue?

Same drama with our machine. Use once a day a few times a week, the drip tray is melting/bending and also the plastic behind in the same spot. Will be contacting Breville/Store to arrange something shortly.
Good to know we're not alone... we are on our 3rd replacement machine and it's starting to happen again!!

No water is coming through my machine.... Any ideas? Thanx ...

No water pressure? Try filling the tank with really hot water and leaving for a few mins to build up the pressure and switch the dial . Repeat a few times see if that works

My machine seems to be working, heats up ok and makes the right noises, water tank full but the water does not run through when I turn to esspresso or froth. How do I know if I need a replacement pump?

My machine has not stopped working so I do not know - sorry.
You will not unless you are a Breville technician obviously
Asked my other half - he is the barista in our family - he says that our old one Laggagia or some Italian one did the same thing and it was the pump. If not under warranty - might be a better option to get another as repairs maybe too expensive.

I tried to find the use of the cleaning tool stored under my Breville 250, but cannot find it anywhere. Could somebody please tell me what the use of this tool is and how I use it.
John Komaromiasked
Should it make loud noise and shaking?
1 answer
If shaking John then may be uneven on bench but yes it does make a rather loud pumping noise.

Hi,
My Breville BES250 started spitting coffee and stream out over the filter basket, a quick check showed the seal had torn. I have now replaced the seal solving the spitting coffee problem. However, i now have a second problem, the water no longer squirts through the shower screen like it used to leaving the coffee more like brown tasteless water! The water comes through the shower screen in 2 or 3 constant streams with no real pressure or purpose! its as if the pump is not providing enough force or pressure to drive the water through into a fine spray.
Any help, advice or suggestions are most welcome
