Electric Blankets Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of electric blanket would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.

Worst electric blanket I’ve ever had
Being in a cold are we always have an electric blanket. After our last breville one wore out we looked no further than another breville and paid a bit more too. BIG mistake. It might have multiple heat settings but any higher than 1 and you are being cooked alive (and I feel the cold and love to be toasty but not that hot). 1.2m cord dangling off the bed means you have to fish for the controller and have a mass of cables beside the bed. And the connection is right near your head and very uncomfortable. I didn’t think it possible to get an electric blanket so very wrong.
Purchased in July 2021 at David Jones Retail Stores for A$200.00.

Flashing F
First blanket had t.o be returned when controls failed now second blanket flashing F after just 5 minutes. Tired of having to return whole item so will not be purchasing this brand again. Previous reviewer is correct, no mention of Fflashing in directions!

Awesome never get hot feet again
This is one of my best purchases.
Have you ever had the trouble of hot feet at night? This solves it ... you are able to just have the top half of your bed warm or bottom half.
very nice heat too

Bad choice
We bought this blanket because it has dual zone heating. It was not the cheapest one, but I love to have my feet a little longer heated than the rest of my body. Well, so far ... it worked. But the heating is so weak. Compared with my old heating blanket it is probably 30% of what I'm used to. I rejected my old blanket because the wires started to stain through the fabric, but I happily took it back from the attic. Even with his patchy looks, it heats way better than the Breville Body Zone BZB537WHT.

Perfect can't live without it
I love this. Love you can have hotter on part of your body than the other. Very easy to use and adjust. Bought it from myer who were very helpful

This is perfect
I like this blanket. For me, its little bit too hot to use as the blanket. So I just use as the quilt cover on my body. It can be warm very quickly after I turn it on. The only problem is if the blanket get wet, it will have a bad smell.

Only worked for 1 day.
Bought this at myer with the recommendation of staff. It only worked for 1 day, then one of the controller didnt work anymore. I took that overseas, so end up having to bring it back to Australia. Took the controller back, hopping they can swap it. Then advised by myer they can only swap the entire blanket. Had to take the whole thing back, and end up just returning it. My target electric blanket works much better and i had it for 3 years.

Defected
Left side works perfectly, right side only half of it heats up. Will take it back after winter is over.
Other than that, heats up quickly, 6 levels of heat is a bit overkill for me — Can't really distinguish the difference between 1&2, 3&4 and 5&6 to be honest.

Ok
I purchased the Breville Bodyzone recently after my Kambrook electric blanket was loyal to me for nine years. This blanket was more expensive. It displayed an F error when I only had it for a week. It is also harder to use.

Was awesome until it stopped working
Loved the 2 zones and the flexibility of the hourly timer. Then started to get the F fault on one of the controllers meaning it would shop heating. Turned off unplugged etc. sometimes this would work but other nights it repeatedly faulted. Ended up returning and getting a sunbeam as it seems this a common fault for the product. Very disappointed for the price.

Fantastic Electric Blanket - Many useful features!
We previously had a Sunbeam which we had endless problem with the controls needing constant replacing. This Breville is excellent and the features on the easy to use control are great. Very happy with this purchase.

Breville Body Zone BZB537WHT and the BIG F
Bought this 3rd July 2016 (today is the 11July 2016) - On the first night it started flashing F and went cold. So turned on the lights, got out of bed, pulled the sheets off and checked the electric blanket had been installed properly, checked the connections, all ok. Read the book but could not find any instructions about the flashing F error on the screen - this is at 2.00am in the morning! So turned it off and turned on again, re-set the temperatures and timer, and was ok for the rest of the night. Two nights later, same thing, so next day ...Read more
after checking the Breville website and finding nothing about electric blankets I telephoned Breville on 1300139798 (number was in instruction booklet). Fellow who answered seemed 'unconcerned' and said 'it was a just a connection failure' so to check the connections. I explained I had already done that several times and the controller was properly connected. Took a photo of the connections later (before and during flashing F). He offered no solution, didn't want to take my details. So a few more nights of this and now it is doing this flashing F routine on both sides of the bed and the only solution is to wake up and re-set the heat settings and timers again in the programme on two controllers! I will be taking it back. September 9th 2016 Update: these have serious inbuilt design faults with the controllers - flashes "F" and disconnects several times every night meaning you have to wake up and check it and reset the settings August 7th 2017 Update: Gave Breville the flick after two faulty blankets and changed to a jason fitted Australian 100% wool So if you are following this saga, let me tell you the solution. Winter 2017 arrived and we needed a reliable electric blanket. So after researching the market I bought a JASON Fitted Australian 100% Wool with detachable 10 hour AutoOff Controller Model: WOFTW2C-PS5 H/1 from Spotlight. It is GREAT! It is lovely and warm, easy to operate and hasn't missed a beat from day one. I highly recommend this blanket which, incidentally is half the price of the Breville Body Zone BZB537WHT. Congratulations JASON you actually make a product that does what it is meant to do!6 comments
Just in case anyone is following this saga of the malfunctioning electric blanket - Breville Body Zone BZB537WHT and the BIG F: On 13 July 2016 I took the 10 day old blanket back to Myer who very hap... Read more
pily replaced the faulty electric blanket with another, same make and model. So here we are 6 nights in and guess what? same problem occurring from day one! Bright blue flashing F and the blanket goes cold. Then the trick is to turn the control off and then re-set the control temperature and timer, then it warms up and then after a few hours it occurs again with bright blue flashing F and the blanket goes cold. We've all double, triple and more checked the connections and it is absolutely installed properly. Have photos to prove it. Breville, it's not rocket science or new technology and no moving parts, so why is seemingly impossible to manufacture a simple electric blanket for the princely sum of $269.95 that actually works to specifications?????? Breville should contact me to discuss.BrevilleBreville

act them by email at: [email protected] - so we did this same day. Here we are 16 days later and Breville have not responded to my email. FYI: the blanket continues to malfunction with the bright blue BIG F- with bright blue flashing F and then the blanket goes cold. FRANKLY I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED they did not return my email. So whereto from here? I guess it will have to be returned and this time for a refund as the product does not perform to expectations. Unfortunately, this means I will need to take yet more time out of my office to address this problem. It is turning into a very expensive exercise in my time and patience.Similar opinion? Faulty & scary
I purchased one of the most expensive electric blankets that I ever have from David Jones thinking it would be the safest option to warm my bed this winter. I even paid that little bit extra for the comfort of the quilted version. I set it all up as per instructions, turned it on and left it on auto on the highest temperature. After 5 minutes I came back to my bed and the remote was flashing FF constantly. I thought that was weird. I turned the power off and unplugged, It from the wall, and disconnect the remotes, and reattached them. I connect...Read more
ed to the power again, and this time the bed stayed on for about an hour. There was no heat, and then the remote started flashing FF. I looked through the manual and nothing to be found. I googled the Breville website and electric blankets weren't even listed there. I ended up returning to DJ's and exchanging it for the exact same one. Biggest mistake ever. This new one now stays on and actually heats the bed, but for only 15 minutes, no matter what setting it is on. Then the remote starts flashing a single F. I have never felt so unsafe using an electric blanket. I'm going to try and contact Breville to try and find out what this error code is, as the FF clearly meant it was faulty as it wouldn't even heat. David Jones have been amazing through all this but it's been the worst purchase I've made in a very long time. I think I'm going to have to buy a Dyson heat fan instead to get through this winter.2 comments

Breville blanket: controller flashes "F" and no heating happens. Quite a new blanket. No mention of this in the manual. The flashing has happened at earlier times but seemed to have fixed itself. This time it is remaining cold. Any help? e-mail [email address removed]

Sadly this review is no longer true. We have had endless problems with F (fault) on the dual controllers which renders it useless.
