great product, short lifespan
we used this product at least a couple of times a week. It was really great. rice, steaming vegies, meats. its great. however, only 6 weeks after the 1 year warranty expired it died. it just stopped heating anything. it would look at sound like it was on however it no longer warmed up. so, no more breville appliances for this family!
cooked great
unreliable, short life span

I agree on the warranty side, but consumer law says it's the retailer who is responsible for sorting it out. They should fix, replace it or give you your money back. they should handle any correspond... Read more
ence with Breville if needed. don't let them tell you otherwise. I find many store staff are not aware of the law so you need to be nice but firm. I think it's called statutory warranty.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Enjoying cooking with this.
My primary purpose was the rice cooker, but when I saw this product I thought, perfect, it is a slow cooker with a saute function and can do risotto, what more could one ask? I have found the rice cooking aspect to be ideal for our household use. The risotto not bad, but I would need to experiment more. The slow cooker I have found excellent. It is easy to clean up and is really a nice no fuss appliance as far as I am concerned.
Saute function, easy to clean, does rice well.
Nothing as yet.

No problems so far, I find it useful for all sorts of cooking.
I haven't had it for too long but find it easy to use, and good for multiple cooking purposes. The only thing I can't say what it's good for is the steaming as I use a stove top based steamer for that. Also living on my own I like the size as the 3.7 litre capacity is just right for me rather than the big family ones. It also seems very easy to clean. I'm looking forward to making lots of things with this appliance.
Simple, easy to use, size for one person.
Nothing I can think of, it's just right for me

Not a real slow cooker, just an expensive rice cooker.
This slow cooker automatically shuts off to the Keep Warm setting after ~2.5 hours. Apparently this known by Breville, as the manual says you have to manually stop and reset the cooking time to keep going. The whole point of a slow cooker is so you can leave it all day to cook, not have to constantly watch to make sure it hasn't turned off!
Attempted to make chicken soup, after four hours the potatoes and carrots were still undercooked. Couldn't even get a fork in them.
My previous slow cooker had a stoneware bowl, this is a flimsy alumi...Read more
num rice cooker bowl that does not retain heat at all. If you want an expensive rice cooker, get this (which would be a waste of money, a $20 KMart rice cooker does the same job). Buy a real slow cooker if you want to make stews. Bad design1 comment
There are two slow cook settings Low and High, if you had selected LOW then it would not have switched over to keep warm after 3 hours as it appears you must have had it on "Slow Cook HIGH". The LOW ... Read more

Great Appliance.
Great product that I highly recommend! Have had a rice cooker for numerous years without a problem. It gets used all the time, and can be used for so many things.
One kitchen essential you must have or even a great gift for Christmas, everyone must have one.
It's bulky so storage is a little problem if you don't have a lot of space but you will get a lot of use out of it.

My best new kitchen toy
So far all meals have been fantastic. One appliance that does it all means clean bench space. Easy to use and clean. My family are enjoying all of the slow cooked meals, and rice that is cooked to perfection. My best kitchen purchase for a very long time. Risottos next ;)
Very easy to use and clean, consistent meal quality

I followed the directions and used 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water. The rice was sticky and undercooked. I called Breville and I am waiting to hear back about what I may have done wrong.

I just bought a new Breville Multi Chef BRC 600 from Domayne Two days ago . looks good. I have had a Breville Rice cooker before with a steam function . So thinking this New one would be a little better with stainless steel steam tray . But after one use i am so disappointed with it, it steams up ok, but the steam and all the Moisture comes out side of the lid and Runs down all over the side on to the Control Buttons,, do you have any suggestions how to stop this occurring, i thought i had to much water in the tray but not as its was only 30 mm depth of water in the bowl . i was cooking cut up Potatoes, i hope you can have some ideas to fix the problem, or just go back to my old Breville rice cooker Cheers Nigel

We are using the old one as well, (plain old rice cooking) and its still going strong. The Multi Chef BRC600 we only did risottos and rice - didnt tend to overflow but it still died on us after very little use,. Good luck...

Instructions say to add liquid between min. and max indicator on bowl for slow cooking. Can you cook a pot roast for example using just a small amount of liquid so that the roast is not stewing?

Hi May, I am not the Breville expert. I would suggest you contact Breville rather than me.
