Blenders Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of blender would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Breville is just gone down with its quality
I bought this blender in DJ and it failed after its first use, the seal leaked all over the bottom part where the motor is, so I had a receipt and went to buy another one, the same problem, I will never trust Breville again. Breville used to be trusted and recommended by many here in Oz, but is it really? So to be honest, I will stick with cheaper brands in order myself money, time and nerves. No more Breville in my kitchen.

Works really well the blades miss nothing so always smooth quality results.
I finally managed to kill it after ~10 years of making frozen smoothie drinks, pancake batter, chopped nuts, vegetable soup etc.
It's broke due to a fracture of the motor coupling on the base of the jug.
The failure was due to corrosion caused over time by the liquid contents leaking from the shaft seal onto the coupling which also left unsightly residue around the coupling.
The switch also burnt out - I bypassed it as the motor was still working fine. So it now turns on off at the wall switch and only one speed but worked fine like that s...Read more
o i kept using it. It made perfect smoothies with ice and stuff the blade tree on this blender is very efficient and sharp and nothing gets missed - absolutely nothing. It churned through ingredients fast dragging them down and mauling them with the blades very effectively. I found the my older Kambrook 500Watt (which also suffered a motor coupling failure trying to do the same as the breville) and new Bellini 500Watt blender both leave large chunks even when operated for 3 times as long. These other blenders did not get close to the result i got from the Breville and had to be continually pulsed and stopped to get traction to blend the contents and still not close no matter how long i seemed to operate them.Similar opinion? I can't break it so I can buy "The Boss"
I've had this blender for ten years. I punish it, I crush ice, smoothies, food hard and soft and try as I might I just can't kill it. I really want the new "the boss".
I leave things in big pieces too, so maybe the construction has changed, but mine is freakin bullet proof. This machine has inspired me to buy many other Brevilley things. If something soooooo cheap can be this good then I'm in for a real treat.
Seriously, this unit was so cheap at $89 I feel guilty that It's still kicking on ten years after. Love it.

The Perfect Blender
This has to be one of the best blenders i have purchased. The jug sits on the base perfectly and does not wobble. It cruses ice amazingly. Its a product that will be used every day.
I highly recommend this product.

2 years still going
Love this thing! I hope it lasts longer .. I dropped the jug and broke it and jug was easy to find replace .. It crushes ice and can do hot stuff but being glass I avoid that ..
Oh unlike some others, the jug does not move around or wobble in the base for what I use it for .. making milkshakes, smoothies, iced coffee and slushies, I cant fault it at all

Dust collector
I bought this thinking it would be great for making soups & blending smoothies. Seems to only work if I cut things into really tiny pieces otherwise it just seems to get the blades bogged. Very disappointed.
Looks nice ..
Blades / motor isn't very strong.

Terrible
I use blender quite often for juicing, smoothies and to make ice cream mixtures. When I say I do blending quite often, I mean weekly not daily so the blender did not die soon due to heavy using. I returned the product and got a Sunbeam Multiblender Platinum square glass jug model that works really well. I like Breville products, my ice cream maker Crazy Scoops worked really well and I used it regularly until I lost the freezing canister, but the Optiva blender I do not recommend as the blending system was quite poor and it did not last.
Nice lo...Read more

Excellent
Good appliance. Glass unit is great for hot and cold. The structure is tough and looks like it won't break easily. Very happy with this product.
Some appliances always work. This is one Breville unit that just keeps doing a good job after many years of use.
Nothing negative to say.

We've had this blender for around 2 years and love it! It makes the nicest banana smoothies! It's quieter than our last blender which was a tiffany one I beleve. We paid around $69 for it!
The colour, beautiful heavy and sturdy jug, fast and durable blades
The plastic measuring cup thingy on the top has small cracks in it from everyday wear and tear

I can blend better with a spoon as I can hardly blend anything without using a spatula to push down the sides and whatever you do, don't expect it to blend anything that is not runny to start with, or don't expect it to work for you if you fill it to more than half-way.
glass jug with handle and measure on the side
The pulse is not worth having and it doesn't cope well a with anything has a greater consistency than water.

OK
will be interesting to see how long this one lasts, if you check out the later models they have changed the cog on the upper section, under the blades to a stronger black plastic one, pretty robust simple machine.
solid glass jug and good blades, easy to clean, powerful enough, especially good for fruit smoothies
very noisey, sounds like a jet plane taking off at times, and grinds like a coffee bean grinder, after about a year, from just making smoothies with frozen bananas, soy milk, and cold water, it is now producing white plastic snow from whe...Read more

Cleaning the machine makes easier/quicker when you twist open the bottom where the blades are. Open it like any other jar--there you can wash the blade and all the rest of the food/milk residues.
This is an awesome machine. Just do things in seconds!
easy to clean as oppose to previous posts :)

Bad
I was impressed with this blender until it started to leak, which occurred only after using it for the second time. I thought I hadn't screwed on the base tight enough, but after screwing it as tight as it would go, it continued to leak. I was disappointed because it is an attractive blender and it's fairly easy to clean. Maybe mine was just faulty, but I won't be buying the same blender again.
Attractive stainless steel base. Quite easy to clean.
It leaked.

We were in the market for a blender and this one caught our eye because of the unique ice-crushing feature. It really works, great for cocktails, smoothies and slushies as well as everthing else. We even mix up our pancake mix in here! We have had several other blenders from various other brands and none have lasted us over 1 year. We have had this one now for 5 years (YES 5!) and it is still working perfectly and looks as great as when we bought it. My parents blender blew up the socket at their house so when they went to buy a new one they as...Read more
ked us what brand and model ours was, as they knew how well it has served us! Now we both have the same great blender! Plus, the stainless steal base matches great with any kitchen! Ice crushing feature really works a treat! Attractive stainless steal base. Goes and goes and goes, never had one problem!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

After this one blew up I've decided to stop buying Breville stuff. They tend to break within a year or two and you have to buy a new one. They are not really built to be fixed either. Nowadays I would rather spend more money at the beginning and have something that lasts for 10 years plus and is easy to repair.
Nice looking - looks like it should last longer than it does :P
It caught on fire.

Good
A good device that is quite powerful and works a treat to make smoothies and other drinks. I have used it to make baby food with much success as well. Inexpensive but can be hard to clean.
This has been a handy blender to have around as it blends quite quickly and is perfect for making baby food or smoothies in a rush.It looks nice and the colours will match most kitchen decors.
Very hard to clean at times and after a while the appliance does not look that nice and shiny. It can get quite noisy while you are blending if you have anything in there that is not really soft.

OK
In general I like these blenders, they are easy to use and do a good job making things like smoothies. They are very noisy and that can be a bit of a turn off but other than that, they look good and suit most kitchens. The only problem I have with them is that they are very difficult to clean and after a while bits of food get stuck deep below that are almost impossible to clean out. If they did not do this I would really love the blender.
Look good, do a good basic job.
Very hard to clean as food gets stuck down below.

This product looks attractive! but the jug and it blade base is too weak! They need to stop using fragile plastic materials!
just happened 15 days after i bought it, my wife was trying to make a smoothie, then the blades wont move! it is just so fragile blade base plastic! i replaced it, my wife filled the jug with yogurt, banana, Ice creme, and some milk. She pressed the button! OPS it broke again ! I think this stock is broken!
I don't think i will go again for any Breville!
I am goning to refund and buy another one!
If you are paying 80AUD like me, just go for something that lasts
1- Strong 700 Wat.
2- Attractive stainless look.( broke 2 times!)
1-Very weak plastic base.
2-The glass jug is heavy.

I have bought ths blender twice over the years. I bought one many years ago and the glass jug was broken when moving house so I replaced it with exactly the same model, I guess that is a sign of a good product, if you'll buy it again. I use it to make pesto, smoothies and to blend pumpkin soup. I highly recommend it.
The jug is glass so it doesn't get smelly from spicey things like a plastic one does. It is powerful so great for crushing ice and the like. It is so styling so it looks great in any kitchen.
It is quike heavy bit I guess this is also a sign of good quality parts.

OK
it's an okay blender looks great on the bench, if it ever breaks down however not sure i would rush out and buy the same blender, i probably get something that still looks good but is a little cheaper.
glass contaier makes it easy to clean, dishwasher safe, works well for milkshakes and smoothies.
says on box blades can crush ice, great for cocktails, not true it just turns them to slush, had to go out and buy a kids avalanch machine that crush's ice for snow cone, found this works alot better for cockatails and half the price. it is rather bulky great for the bench top but hard to store in other places.

The glass jug was broken inadvertently, could we buy a new one and what price we have to pay?

This is a really old product. I doubt Breville would still stock them. You could always email Breville and ask.

Hi, Sorry i cant give you a definite answer as we have not tried it. But i presume it would blend vegetables the same as it would fruit.
