Does what it says on the box.
This is a really good sandwich press. It is solidly built, well designed and makes a great toastie.
Its best feature is the variable height adjustment, you set the slide at the right to the thickness you want, and the top half of the press can't drop any lower than your set height. It means your toastie is "pressed" but not "squashed." I used to have a cheap Aldi press that worked OK but had no height control, the darker it toasted, the flatter your sandwich. The Breville Toast & Met makes it "just right" every time.
The other advantage is, a...Read more
s it has a higher power heating element, you don't need to butter the outside of the sandwich. Just make the sandwich and put it in the toaster, the hotplates are hot enough to brown the bread without needing to butter the bread. This means lower fat sandwiches and less mess to clean up. I occasionally use it to cook other things, it does great salmon fillets - place a piece of baking paper on the lower plate, add your salmon fillets, then another piece of baking paper over the top. Set the height adjustment so the top plate is resting on the fish fillet but not squashing it down. The result is perfectly cooked salmon fillets. I highly recommend this product.Purchased in December 2021 at The Good Guys for $67.50.

Wonderful sandwich maker
Had one of these sandwich makers before and I wore it out so good. It is also great for reheating pizzas, crisps up the base and heats the topping, wonderful well worth the money. Have not tried the melting cheese yet, but will do so in the future. I have the 2 slice model big enough for the two of us.

Cafe-style lunches at home!
I'd accrued a load of Qantas points and decided to treat myself. Now I would be lost without my Breville. I don't like the triangle toastie makers because I don't like double-buttering, and I prefer wraps. With this sandwich press, you don't have to butter the outside of the bread/wrap, and you can pop any kind of bread/wrap/tortilla in there.
I know this isn't Masterchef, but to prove my point about its versatility, I made a wrap with apple slices and cinnamon, and it came out like a little strudel. Add a dash of cream, and you've got a lov...Read more
ely dessert in 5 minutes. I use this every day, and haven't had any faults or scratches in the 8 months I've had it. UPDATE - it's now April 2017 and I've had this sandwich press over 5 years. I use it in the morning to toast banana bread/waffles and on weekends for toasties, so it has had a fair amount of use. The non-stick still looks like new and I've never had a problem. We also have the same appliance at work, which gets a real hammering. It's been in service for over 2 years and also looks like new. Highly recommended.
