Christmas cruise very overpriced. Constant smokers haze.
Went on the Christmas Carnival Spirit cruise for 2015. Staff were fantastic. Smiling, happy, observant, fun, helpful. Cabin was great and very clean. I was happy with the space on empress deck. Other family members on deck 5 and their cabin was more shabby. Noticed the standard went downhill as the levels went down. Breakfast and lunch were really good. Dinner was quite poor in the lido. Don't recommend it unless you like either overcooked or undercooked or Pizza. Towards the end of the cruise some desserts and dinners were quite mishmashed, th...Read more
ere seemed a combination of several meals in one. Dinner was great at the Empire and Nouveau Restaurant until the last night where it was a bizarre mess of mixed orders, rushed service. The activities and performances were really good and fun but only done once and at odd times. I went as a group with 8 adults and 6 children under 10 and 2 children over 10. I had no problem with the children on board, only the bar staff serving the children and the adults chain smoking with the children at the pool. Now the bad. Kids were at EVERY bar, EVERY bingo. 14 and 15 year old kids were ordering cocktails NOT mocktails. Kids were at EVERY smokers table next to the pool. If you seriously don't like smokers, (I have lost 3 family members to lung and throat cancer) then possibly avoid this cruise as carnival have placed the smokers at the best pool near the doorways to the inside, so at the two best bars you are walking through the haze, you can't use one side of the pool or pool seating as it is horrible and your kids cop it for about 6 hours a day, then at the outdoor cinema at night as well. Absolutely Horrifically Disgusting.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Couldn't fault it.
Just come back off the Christmas cruise and we had a ball! Food was great and plentiful, heaps of kids aboard although we went as a couple, we weren't bothered by them.....they had their own pools and water slides. We chilled out in the adults only area at the back on the Serenity Deck where we took our breakfast and lunch but dined in the evening in the Empire Dining Room. Service was faultless and the staff were all friendly.....they work so hard, one said she worked ten hours a day seven days a week and still had a smile on her face. Only one day of rain but that can't be helped,...that's not the cruise ship's fault! Would definitely go again with Carnival.

Thankyou Carnival Cruise ship won't be cruising anymore
Did the October cruise What a miserable ship,Staff were not helpful the food was very poor, the weather stopped us from going on shore to the isle of pines, the rooms on level six were great, spa bath didn't work, got charged for drinks that we didn't use from our room.the ship had problems getting back to Sydney on time no organisation People stood for hours to get information, they sent us to the wrong motel and waited hrs again to find accom .the pool area was not good right next to smoking section and kids sitting around this .Had eleven f...Read more

Try once
Went on a 9 day Pacific islands cruise on 14 October 15. Boarding was delayed until 1030pm. Seeing as it was my birthday I couldn't celebrate as the day was over. Restaurants closed only average 24 hour pizza bar open. $100 on board credit given to each booking for delay. Balcony cabins rather small on level 8. On board activities rather plain ie throwing a bean bag into a hole, sales seminars that try to sell you products at the end, over priced photos to buy, overpriced spa, constantly trying to get money off you for sales everywhere you go...Read more
, average entertainment no more than a high school production, food lukewarm at lido and Empire Dining room, toilet kept blocking, had to ring guest services about incorrect items on our account, duplicate charges got charged for a drink that I did not purchase I was offshore on an island excursion, bed sheets not changed in 9 days, children sitting at bars with parents where alcohol served, kids playing bingo with parents, air conditioning hardly working, kids pool in smoker's area, one island stop cancelled due to bad weather, rude casino worker that hardly spoke English, food staff seemed constantly tired from long days, bottled water $4.50. Too many kids on board. Yes it was a carnival mad house needs more organization.

Fantastic way to travel
We did the 7 night cruise to New Caledonia (Oct). The food was great...best breakfast selection I've ever seen. Dinner was above average, waiters very friendly and great with kids. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I did not come across one rude staffmember and that's pretty rare! Fantastic club for kids with great activities and adults also have a good program daily. Balcony rooms highly recommended for the views and relaxation and they are safe enough for kids. Temperature comfortable in cabin and throughout most of the ship. Will definitely travel with them again!

Terrible food
My wife and I boarded 30/8/15 in singapore to Sydney. The ship had just come out of drydock at Singapore and was incomplete but had to commit to passenger timetable to cruise to Sydney. Some areas were inaccessible to passengers on cruise as work was vying completed at sea. To compensate 25 pc refund on cruise fee was put on card to collector spend. Our balcony room on deck 8 was good and also room staff excellent. However we will not be cruising with carnival again as the food was appalling. Buffet food was too fatty and salty. Watermelon frui...Read more
t good but rockmelons were never ripe. All hot food was never hot enough and tasted revolting to the point where we could only eat the most basic and even found that a turnoff. All coffee including purchase coffee also terrible. Our trip was ruined by this and rest of day could not be enjoyed after being revolted at every meal. It's a wonder nobody got food poisoning.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Never again
We travelled to Singapore on August 1st I don't know if they changed chefs in Darwin but from Darwin to Singapore I was unable to eat a main course in the dining room, tough meat was only the beginning, the staff tried to do their best but you can't fix bad food .

Cruise to Singapore
My husband and I decided to take the Spirit cruise to Singapore on 1 August. This was our second cruise, the first being HAL to the Pacific the previous year. Embarking OK as we had a Suite and had priority check-in. The cruise line took all passports off the passengers on boarding as visitor Visas were to be organised for Indonesia and Singapore. The cruise was booked out so there were big delays with part of our luggage. Our room was lovely with no problem apart from rattling air con ducts and shuddering (maybe engines??) through day and nigh...Read more
t. Cabin stewards were friendly and efficient as were most staff on the ship. The cruise itself was great value for money in comparison to other lines. Food in Buffet was often cold and not many choices, eating from plastic plates made it less enjoyable. Organisation at ports was severely lacking. Cruise director was not the easiest person to listen to with his LOUD voice - many held their ears. The ship was in need of refurbishment which was the purpose of this cruise. I hope all problems are rectified for passengers cruising back to Sydney. The best part was a VERY smooth sailing with seas quite calm and perfect weather every day. Would not cruise Carnival again though and would only recommend them for those who could not afford a cruise on a more expensive cruise line. Sixteen nights and we were glad to be off the ship!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

an excellent cruise from sydney
Last week my husband and i went on a 8 day cruise from sydney on carnival spirit. I must say that i give full credit to every member of the ship. They are all very polite, they remember your name, and they are quick to attend to your needs. The ship accommodates about 2700 people, but you can always find a nice window seat in the restaurants or lounges.
The food was surprisingly excellent, unlike some other cruise ships such as The Princes Cruises which I had been on twice and was very very disappointed.
Whats more amazing is that, y...Read more
ou are not obliged to pay tips to the staffs, unlike other cruise ships where you are obligated to pay a percentage to the members of the ship. However to show our appreciation we did give a fair amount of tips. all in all, its value for money. highly recommend.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Carnival Spirit Review 12 day to Fiji
Great first impression, tons of staff to help you find your way around on the first day. Reminded me of an apple shop!
We checked in at 1.30 and didn't get our baggage until after dinner, so be sure to pack a change of clothes in your carry on for the first sit down dinner as you will most likely not receive your luggage before (unless you check in early)
Rooms are great, we stayed in a basic room, and it was spacious and well designed. Plenty of cupboard space and room under the bed to hide your ...Read more
suitcases away. The room attendants were really quite amazing. They did our rooms twice a day at least and every time we came back to the room it was clean. We made some friends who had a deluxe balcony room and I must admit it was a nice change from our interior room, but considering how much time you spend out if your room I don't think it was worth the extra $1500 pp that they paid. Gym- Considering it's on a boat, the gym is quite adequate. There is a small range of free weights up to 35kg and a wide range of resistance machines. The free weight area is tiny, so it can be a little frustrating. Gym enthusiasts may be a little disappointed at first as there in no bench, squat rack etc., but you can get creative and tweak things to still do your usual workout. And once the swell get a little bumpy you can fully understand why they are not on the ship. Heaps of cardio equipment, I didn't have to wait once for a treadmill the whole cruise. There is also a sauna, spa and luxury locker rooms where you can shower off if need be. All in all, a rather well-organised gym section in my opinion. Almost impossible to do a circuit if your into the cross fit scene due to lack of space.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Carnival Spirit 3 night cruise
Not my favourite cruise line, but still good value for money and plenty to do. Evening shows disappointing and most of the food only warm. Family friendly which is why I would go on it again.

Just returned from 12 days to the islands Mystery island The isle of pines & such on the Carnival Spirit, only hot food was the nouveau restaurant where we paid $40-00 a head the food was incredible though I must admit not so the Empire room luke warm breakfast lunch & dinner, & most of the Lido counters closed at 7-15 at night Pizza was the only one open most nights after 7-15 good Pizza though.
The live shows were fair except for one night where most people walked out due to a very bad male singer & excessive overbearing noise from the band ...Read more

Nice holiday
For a first cruise this was a good selection. It was a 9 day sail with 3 island stopover. We had suite 789 with balcony. Nice clean rooms with plenty of space. Meals in the empire restaurant was above average as was the service. On board shows were good. Drinks were between 300 and 400 per cent mark up ( one particular bottle of australian wine we could have bought in australia including tax was $15 on the boat tax free it cost $60 doesnt figure) .Tours were well organised and boat staff were beyond reproach. For nice relaxing holiday would recommend

Carnival Spirit
This was our 2nd cruise (the first being Pacific Jewel November 2012.
Travelling with 13 other family members was certainly an experience to remember. It was fantastic having the time away with them all although being on a huge ship we werent in each others pockets'.
Last cruise we had a window room.. this time we decided seeing we'd hardly be in there to have an inside stateroom. Not a good idea for us. Yes it was cheaper but we kept waking up all night wondering if we'd slept in..even though we had an alarm clock. Also we had to turn on t...Read more

An Experience to Treasure
I went on a cruise for the first time this past December with family, and was a bit skeptical on the whole thing at first. I had absolutely nothing to worry about, by the time I boarded! I could not say a bad thing about my experience.
There were plenty of available food options 24/7, and the food itself was absolutely delicious!
My teenagers were very hesitant on going to the kids clubs, but in the end said that it was easily on of the best parts of the cruise.
All around there are so many things to do on the ship that you'll be going non...Read more

Been twice and was not disappointed.
Ive been on the spirit twice this year, once with a friend and once with family.
The first one was 11 nights to the south pacific, unfortunately there was a tsunami in Vanuatu so we bypassed it and went Fiji instead. Great surprise. Absolutely amazing! They managed to alter everything to suit and even though there was one less island to visit and a much rougher trip, the crew managed to make it amazing and worthwhile. While on the topic of the crew, ohmy were they amazing. Our waiters, our room steward, out bartender who became our best friend...Read more

Best Honeymoon!!
My husband took me on a surprise honeymoon at the end of June this year on the Carnival Spirit. We did the 8 night New Caledonia trip that stopped at Noumea, Mare, and the Isle of Pines.
It was our honeymoon, but it was also the best holiday I have EVER been on. Everything was amazing. The ship itself, the food, the entertainment, the staff - just can't speak highly enough about the amazing experience! The room was incredible and it was so wonderful sitting on the balcony having a glass of champagne while we sailed the day away! The islands we...Read more

Best holiday ever!
Just got back from 9 nights cruising to New Caledonia aboard the Carnival Spirit. I couldn't recommend this as a family holiday more - it's fun from start to finish and the staff are excellent - 950 crew to 2200 passengers = platinum service. The ship has everything and the island stopovers are a nice distraction but it's really all about the onboard activities. When my fussy 15 yo daughter says it was the best 2 weeks of her life, you know you're on a winner!
Food/activities/facilities/organisation.
Drinks bill can get a bit steep.

Do it....
12 Days around Fiji and New Caledonia in comfort and style. Great price for a balcony suite that P&O could not compete with. Staff eager to please and converse with that ran the ship with efficently, no tipping as it was included in the pricing. Beautiful ship could not fault our fantasic spacious cabin (balcony stateroom 80% of rooms) that are air conditioned, quiet minimal engine vibration and cruise speed a little faster than pacific dawn (overtook her on route to Noumea!!). Beautiful casino and main restaurant with what seemed a bar in ever...Read more
y corner. $9.50 for a ornate cocktail served to your deck chair while overlooking a tropical island sunset is not to be missed. All sevice and entertainment crew celebrated Austraila day with passengers in an exciting day at sea and went on into the night. Not enough time in the day to experience all that was going on. Stage performances were brilliant with a new show every night. Staff went above and beyond to see you had a great time even on shore excursions and disembarkation. Lost my camera on a remote island beach a staff member then found it and returned it to the ship - thanks. Sydney harbour has to be the best in the world for cruising in and out of so you have to DO THIS at least once in your life its ausome. Price/value, sevice, food, casino payouts, staff, ......Everything Had to get off when we got back!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
