Incompetent and careless with belongings.

Interstate move, Melbourne to Sydney.
Booked an interstate move, insisted on the date being the 31st or 1st of Feb as i'd be in Melbourne anyway.
I received a confirmation call confirming pickup for Monday (No date mentioned just the day).
The Saturday before (the 24th) I got a call from the driver saying he was on his way much to my surprise. Obviously I was not in Melbourne.

We moved to a 1 bedroom apartment from a 3 bedroom share house, but have A LOT of stuff, even we under estimated how much we had...This included a monstrous 150kg fishtank, a balcony garden that resembled the set of Jurassic park with at least 6 large plants (2 in heavy terra cotta/stone plantars)! add to this all the standard apartment furniture including a 550ltr fridge, heavy queen bed frame with inbuilt drawers, a large L shaped leather couch, heavy mahogany tv cabinet, front load washi
... Read moreng machine, these were not easy items to move. All this packed the 4T truck to the brim which the guys filled like a game of Tetris, but unbelievably secure. Due to the amount of stuff not everything could fit, but was happy to deal with that myself, there was not an inch of space left. Throw in a 5 level, 35 stair obstacle with only a 2.5 by 1.5 space at each level to move in and you can just imagine how difficult this was... While I'll say that I feel the boys were under prepared for the job, this wasn't their fault (citymove you could at least supply some moving straps to save their backs - about $20 at bunnings). Thiago battled the stair case single handedly with the washing machine as no trolleys could fit, valiant effort. I have no idea how they got the cabinet, fish tank and fridge through that stair case, but they did and did it well. Even after 3 and a half hours of grueling torture, the boys started running at the end to get the final boxes in before the storm hit! Only one issue with payment and that was your app can't take AMEX, it won't let you put in a 4 digit CVN thing or whatever it is, had to call head office to process the payment. While it did get sorted in end, it just meant Ivan and Thiago had to hang around for an unneeded 20 mins, which I'm sure they didn't need after all their efforts, fix your app citymove. All in all, blown away, can't thank Ivan and Thiago enough.

Awful experience - stay away!
Citymove RemovalsI have no idea how there are positive reviews for this company. Our experience was horrendous. All our furniture was damaged (yes, every single piece has dents/scratches). The only things that survived the trip intact were the boxes we packed ourselves. The removalists had nowhere near enough blankets to protect our furniture (despite me providing a detailed list of what we needed moved) and their furniture trolley was broken. When we pointed out the damage, the removalists shrugged - that was it! I asked to speak to their manager, who politely

When I told him I simply wanted the account dealt with by head office (because as it turns out, the damage bill to our furniture is more than the cost of the move), he said they would stay in my house all night unless I gave them my credit card details (which they were also offering no receipt for). After 2 hours of this back and forward, I called the police - who removed the two men for trespassing. Head office have been just as bad to deal with since, with Victoria (who apparently works in "customer solutions") telling me that unless the removalists were physically threatening me, they had every right to stay in my house all night. It seems that Qld police don't share Victoria's view. In addition, to claim damages for their movers negligence, you need to show proof of purchase for all your furniture. Funnily enough we didn't have a tax invoice for the table we've owned for 10 years (which was still a beautiful piece of furniture that was undamaged until we hired citymove). From the reviews on here, citymove obviously has some good removalists but why risk getting the movers we did and having to deal with the shocking service provided by head office. They are meant to be an accredited company who provide "experienced professionals" and yet, one of our removalists openly admitted it was the second time he'd ever moved furniture. We're now having to apply to small claims court for damages and submit a complaint to Fair Trading Australia - the whole thing has been a nightmare and not something I would want anyone else to experience.

Removalists were punctual and respectful of beloved items, and we appreciate the care and attention given even though the move was only about five kilometres! -- all in all, would recommend. Stay Away
NSW, MarrickvilleBooked my 2 bedroom move with these clowns, they gave me "earliest and best slot" 7:30AM. These guys appeared after 1:30 hours. In the meantime, I made numerous calls to their numbers, not a single person called me back and told me any reasons for the delay, etc.
I had to step in by looking at their speed, still took 4 hours to complete the move, charged me $530 and gave $30 discount.
This was my second move with them so thought they will treat me good but now will never repeat the mistake and just leaving this review so people can also learn by my mistake.

Big move by the guys who were with us for 10 hours. On time, polite and obliging. Happy to accommodate all requests. Very hard working. Took no break despite heat and size of job. We were very impressed and would come back to Citymove.
Only slight negative. We asked for all utilities to be disconnected at the house we were moving out of and despite a request did not get the follow up and as a result this was not done. Other than that all consultants very good. Knew what they were doing, professional etc.
We will recommend the service.
Awesome Quick Work
NSWOn short notice we booked Citymove on a recommendation from website. For our 4br move we really needed a 10tn truck but Citymove offered 2x4tn tricks instead with 2+2 crew. This worked perfectly. Ivan and his team Felipe, Bruno and Andre were a pleasure to deal with and worked quickly, carefully and professionally in a difficult access situation with lots of large heavy pieces. Big job, big effort, no fuss

They went above and beyond at every turn, including fitting everything carefully into the truck even though we half way too much stuff. We've been lucky to have Ivan as the primary driver on both occasions and he is very professional and skilled in removals. He usually has a less skilled offsides but he instructs them well and the moves are seemed and stress free. We also had Sergio this move (we had 2 trucks for 2 locations) and he was wonderful also.
There was a couple of breakages on the moves, but honestly, I don't think I've ever moves without a couple of glasses or bowls being collateral damage.
Reasonably priced and an above reasonable job.
Would recommend (and have) to anyone needing the job done (especially in the inner west, they are great in the tricky skinny spaces).

You completed our move from Tirrabella Street, Carina Heights, Brisbane, to 7 Bread Street, Mansfield, Brisbane, on Friday, 13th November 2015.
We booked a 10 ton truck to arrive at 10.30 on Friday. Your man [name removed] said he would send an email verifying it. He didn't send any email apart from the dollar saying our credit card was ok.
I specifically stated in my initial booking email that I did not want removalists in the afternoon because they would be tired. I even made a joke about it to underline my point.
We then discovered with your email a couple of days before our move that you were only going to send one 4 ton truck at anything up until 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

That's right: we used another "reputable company" (your words). Not you of course. That company managed to use those big blankets which removal companies tend to have in the back of the van. Oddly enough they use them with no extra charge with not a hint of your health and safety so-called justification. 3. OH THIS ONE IS BRILLIANT: "I know that it is sometimes difficult to understand the rates compared to the truck size, however on a move like yours where you are going such a short distance, it is really not worth paying a higher rate for 2 trucks with only two men, or even 1x10T truck, when you only have 2 men working, and they can only together to load one truck at a time, whilst the other would parked at the side. These products are much for economical for customers when the driving time is longer than working time loading and unloading. On a short distance move, when you have 2 trucks, 4 men would always be more economical. DID YOU RE-READ THAT UTTERLY CONDESCENDING PARAGRAPH CityMove? WE DIDN'T GET 4 MEN. WE GOT THE SAME 2 MEN WHO CAME BACK IN THE SAME TRUCK WITH THE SAME DRIVER. These poor blokes had been working since 7.00am that morning. You sent us the same people to work until 2000 hours and one of them had a bad back! THAT'S 13 HOURS ON THE TROT. This is a year later but I have just discovered your reply. We are still as incensed about CityMove as we were a year ago. I know people will still use your company because there aren't all that many moving companies in Brisbane who advertise. I'm assuming also that CityMove is a Franchise. If so then with a bit of luck the old owners will sell out because the new owners will make a packet if they treat their customers with responsible care.

Citymove RemovalsI was so impressed by the service - Ivan and Vinicius arrived on time and were friendly, helpful and efficient. My move ran so smoothly, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again ! They were happy to help reassemble furniture and did an excellent job. I really appreciated that they kept me informed throughout the process - for example, texting beforehand to let me know their exact arrival time and advising costing for additional items. Everything was spot on time, and flexibly arranged with me.
One of those "too good to be true" experiences, which squeeked into the "but it was" basket.

NSWWe were moving a large 2 bedroom unit with study, large outdoor courtyard and storage cage approximately 30km requiring a 10T truck. The 10T truck broke down prior to the moving day so customer service contacted me and notified me it would be replaced with 2 x 4T trucks for the same price. The guys text me in the morning to tell me they were on their way. The 3 guys I had (Ivan, Vinicius & Zuo) could not have been better. Even when they were rushing off to the next job, they were happy to stay back and ensure everything was exactly where we wanted it. The only negative I would have is that the cost of plastic wrapping and bubble wrapping is excessive in my opinion ($198 for 9 items).

Citymove RemovalsIt took the gentlemen from Citymove 5hrs to complete my move yesterday. The drive was under 2kms and it was only a two bedroom apartment. Really disappointed. I still can not fathom why it took them so long. it ended up costing me $675.. Unbelievable considering we left behind all the big items including: fridge, washing machine, and both beds.

Make sure your stuff is well boxed.
Citymove RemovalsWe had 2 guys moving our 2 bedroom house. Friendly people, but not the most efficient at stacking things. Some of the plastic boxes had broken lids. They placed a wooden table on its side in the street. In hind sight, I wish I had secured all my belongings myself, and not relied on their common sense on how to handle and store goods. Prepare well and you should be fine.

We shifted from a cramped one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment about 50kms away starting on a second floor and finishing on another second floor and they made it look easy, I couldn't be happier with them!

Great moving experience last week
VIC, BrunswickThese guys were fantastic. Came in with very short notice to pack my things up on the Wednesday and move Friday morning. They were all done by lunch including dropping a few things on the way to another address and moved other furniture around at new address. All fragile items bubble wrapped then blankets then shrink wrapped.
Still not sure how they did it so quick. Would have taken me a week to do what they did in 6 hours.

NSWI moved house from Randwick to Waterloo on 14th August this year, and having never used a removalist before I can honestly say I won't be moving without CityMove again! They turned up on time, had everything into the van really quickly, were so lovely to deal with (honestly fantastic customer service!) and dispite being slightly concerned if anything may get damaged in the van I had no issues what so ever. ... Read more few things organised that day and needed to get an spanner on the way home to finish taking my bed down but the tool I picked up didn't work. I'm not great at DIY, and wasn't sure what I needed so the lead removalist Cleber even came to Bunnings with me, helped me with what I needed and was kind enough to take the bed down within a couple of minutes. He was really great to deal with, was so helpful and really went over and beyond to help me out when I was stressing about getting my bed down. I've heard before that removalists can take ages to get the job done and end up costing a fortune but this simply wasn't the case with CityMove. They had everything packed in the van (including coming to bunnings and taking my bed down), got me to Waterloo and had all my things in the new place within 2 hours almost exactly. There is no way that I could have moved all the stuff I had, within that space of time, and with that much ease without having CityMove, Cleber and his colleague, there to help me do this. I had really heavy furniture and 3 or 4 (I can't even remember now) flights of stairs to get up and down. Asking friends to help move is always a massive inconvenience for them, and then trying to get hold of a van to move things is a nightmare. For anyone who wants to move I would highly recommend speaking to CityMove first, it was a really great price - less than half of what I thought it might be - and was so easy to book and I had nothing to worry about. It made the whole moving process so much easier. In addition to all of this, they are also running a promotion at the moment on 2DayFM, and I was able to pick up boxes to use free of charge which was another massive help and saved time and money having to go any buy new ones to use. I can just drop them back when I'm done with them so I don't have to worry about shifting all the cardboard after either. A massive thanks to Cleber, his colleague and to CityMove for the fantastic service, I will be recommending you to all my friends and family and will not be moving without you again.
Moved 1.2 Km From Raceview To Flinders View. 18/6/15

They had been notified before that I had extremely heavy furniture as was solid timber. Overcharged and also stole items from the move. I have emailed them and still waiting for their reply. With a total inventory of 42 cubic meters and a completion time of 6 hours, I can't fault the men on their performance time, however I will discuss your concerns regarding the missing bed cover with your driver and be in touch this afternoon to see if we can identify when it was last seen. Please note that I have checked the photos from the day of your move, and the 10T truck provided did have a ramp which was utilised loading and unloading your furniture. With heavy items that can not be wheeled up the ramp, it is often easier for the items to be lifted by the men into the truck with out the ramp. I can see that during your booking it was discussed if a 4T truck with a hydraulic lift would be needed on your move as a piano was listed on your inventory, however following confirmation it was stated that it was only an electric organ and that the lift would not be required.You are incorrect as they told me that they don't like to use the ramp it was quicker lifting the items on and off the truck. Booking was simple and details explained over the phone and followed up on email.
We had to move 2 apartments to 1 and it took an entire day. The 2 guys we had were amazing, took time to ensure that items were not damaged and recommended items that should be wrapped.
The apartment moving in had a small lift and they managed everything so well and even managed to take our couch up 8 flights of stairs which took almost an hour!
Very detailed in explaining the process, cost, timing and explaining the breakdown of the final invoice.
Would highly recommend Citymove if you are looking to move.

The co-ordinators made it easy for me to arrange the move, and the driver Dennis kept in touch while he was on the road so I knew exactly when to expect pick-up and delivery.
