Helps with Gingivitus

published

I was advised to use this due to severe gum disease and sensitive teeth due to a bit of bone loss in my gums. although, the mouthwash is pretty strong, it helped clean my gums and I could see my gums werent as red as they use to be. It left my mouth feeling clean. Its not recommended for long term use as the mouthwash tends to stain the teeth but yeah, It helped my gums to heal. Recommend it for anyone who suffers from Gingivitus.

Be cautious!!!

published

Took this as recommended by my dentist for severe inflamed gum And gave me a allergic reaction !
Couldn't breathe and lost my voice for an hour!! Very scary
Will now be throwing it down the drain!!!!!

Recommended By Dentist

published

The first time I did a rinse with this stuff, I thought it was laced with Wasabi - it burnt my tongue like you wouldn't believe.. however, I continued the treatment as requested by my dentist for gingivitis and I no longer have the burning sensation in my mouth (I am on day 2 of using it). It doesn't taste pleasant, but I have learned that if I keep it away from my taste buds and throat (by not swallowing until the stuff is well and truly out of my mouth) it isn't too bad at all. My gums are slowly getting better and I will continue to use it until they're healed. I recommend it as a treatment to help sore inflamed gums. I'd rather an hour of a burning tongue than losing my teeth! :)

Dilute it

published

I dilute it to about 6 water to 1 Savacol (I mix it in the lid). Works well and diluted has no problem with tastebuds (for me) after about 15 minutes, nor with sharpness.

Receeding Gums

published

I have recently started using this products as my gums are receding and painful, yes it burns my tongue, and yes it changes my taste buds, but I would rather that than no teeth! My gums are already looking less red after 3 days. Hopefully they continue healing!

An excellent way to lose weight

published

The product works fantastically to clear up mouth ulcers however it also almost completely removes your sense of taste. Would highly recommend to those trying to suppress their appetite in order to lose weight.

Tongue ulcers

published

I've been suffering with extremely painful and constant tongue ulcers for the past couple of years. Savacol cleared them up after 1 day of using the mouthwash. I am absolutely thrilled and would recommend anyone who has tongue ulcers to try this product. I have tried every other suggested remedy and nothing worked before.

Unpleasant and ineffective

published

Tried Colgate Savacol (Alcohol free) on recommendation from a dentist and found it to have an overpowering foulness which removed any sense of taste from my mouth for at least 8 hours after using it. I did not experience the same clean fresh sensation as I have from another brand of alcohol free mouthwash that I have been using for years with great success. I paid $10 for this bottle and all I can do with it now is pour it down the sink to unblock my drainpipe, that's all it's good for. Take it off the market Colgate...........
Great drain cleaner
Foul tasting, no fresh sensation after use, no warning on product about strong distaste.

Burns like hell, but feels so clean

published

Yeah it does burn, sometimes I can't hold it in my mouth long, but my mouth sure does feel clean after using it. I would recommend this to anyone that requires a "heavy duty" mouth wash. Man it sure is hard to fill up fifty words.
works well
can be painful at times

Stops "morning breath"

published

I wanted a mouthwash to help prevent that awful "morning breath" that develops overnight due to the lack of oxygen in the mouth when you're asleep (unless of course you sleep with your mouth open). So I tried Savacol because it contains chlorhexidine which acts as a bactericidal agent (meaning it kills bacteria) and a bacteriostatic agent (meaning it stops bacteria from reproducing). The results were excellent. I have tried some other mouthwashes (e.g. varieties of Listerine and some other Colgate products) but this is the only one which actually reduced my morning breath.
Helps prevent "morning breath" by killing bacteria and stopping it reproducing

Also there is a warning on the bottle, it was about the only thing I read on the bottle that stuck in my head!

I had the beginning of gum disease and this product was recommended to me. I used it for about 3-4 weeks and it fixed my problem. It does have a very strong taste, so I often diluted it 50% solution to 50% water. The strength of the taste does afftect your sense of taste for a while, so if this is an issue, I'd use it on the night time brush only. Overall I would recommend this above any other supermarket mouthwash as it has genuine medicinal properties, not just cosmetic breath freshning ones.
Does what it claims to do, reasonably priced, easily available, can be diluted.
Very strong taste

Works very well.

published

I had a tooth removed about a year ago and was advised by my dentist to use savacol to rinse out my mouth twice a day. Healed very well. Just had another tooth out a week ago and wasn't using it. I have since contracted tonsillitis and thought I should start using it again. Im so glad I did, it relieved the pain of the ulcers on my tonsils and has helped keep the germs out of my tooth hole. especially when it is very sensitive to brushing.

Good

published

My Dentist recommended this to me when I had inflamed, red gums around one of my wisdom teeth. She said the tooth did not need extracting but that rinsing with some Savacol for a few days would ease the pain. After one day, it completely healed and my whole mouth felt fine.
Fast, effective treatment for inflamed gums.
Price is expensive and it leaves a VERY strong, almost painfully strong minty taste in the mouth for quite a long time but it works.

Can highly recommend Savacol for relief of gum disease and plaque prevention. But wouldn't use it every day unless I needed to because of the lingering taste and sensation of having my tongue coated and unable to taste food properly.
Maybe once or twice a week as an ongoing thing would be useful.
A dental leaflet handed out at a kindergarten recommended Savacol for gum disease, so I tried it for a sore swollen area of my gums and this was cured within a couple of days. It also leaves my teeth constantly feeling like I've brushed and flossed through to the next day/s.
Bitter taste and it feels like it leaves a coating on my tongue so that I can't taste properly for the day.

The Savacol Mouth Wash would have to be one of my favourites, it is Anti Bacterial so I know my mouth is clean after brushing. Not only my mouth is clean but also my throat, I used to get a lot of tonsilitist problems before i started using Savacol, but since I use this one or Cepecol daily the throat has cleaned itself up and i am no longer suffering with those problems. I say this Anti bacterial mouth Wash has helped in keeping out the bugs from my throat, so imagine what it kills in my mouth all those nast germs that are about. Its rival brands seem to offer little compared to this one. I would recommend this one to to anyone who asked about it.
This Savacol Mouth Washes is my favourite, I put it as my favourite as it is anti bacterial.

If you could buy this product in a larger bottle, it would be a lot more affordable and worthwhile. It does not last long coming in the smaller size.
I like that this mouth wash has the antibacterial qualities to it, and I would definitely be purchasing this product if I needed a very hard working mouth wash, or if I had just had some dental work done.
This mouth wash can have quite a strong taste to it but other than that it does a good job. It is more expensive than other products and it would be better if you could buy it in a larger bottle.

I think that this mouth wash is one of the better ones on the market. There are so many to choose from these days but this one feels a bit better quality than many of the others. It does not have the greatest of tastes but I do feel that it does a good job in helping to curb plague and to keep your teeth in good condition.
This does seem to be a very good mouthwash that is different to a lot of others on the market.
It only comes in a smaller bottle and can be a bit expensive.
