Hubby's purchase
My husband bought this membership a couple of months ago - I must admit I was a little skeptical at first -it sounded too good to be true.
We have used the card a few times now since his purchase, both in Melbourne and Sydney, and our bill was discounted every time without a fuss.
My children have also used it to book Balloon Fights and said they saved around $80 between them just by using the card.
So far so good, will continue to use it as the savings are definitely there to be had.
**Plus this way I get taken out a little more often :)

Great program!
The best part is that there are a number of restaurants with totally uncapped benefits allowing you to save literally 100s in just in single evening if you go as a group... and incredibly, you can keep going back as many times as you want. A genuinely good program.

Terrible
Since the day I unfortunately spend a fortune for a membership. disappointed and furious that I got sucked in to this membership! My first experience at one of their restaurants was closed at my arrival and ate there only to show my card after the meal as we were supposed to and the staff knew nothing about the card and the Connoiseur club. This same thing has happened to every other restaurant I have been to since. I spent over $1540 for a membership for nothing! Connoiseur club has not been easy to contact to express these issues as non one ever seems to pick up the phone. I want a full refund of my money as I have lost hope attempting to embarrass myself at every restaurant by flashing a useless card!

ALMOST EXCELLENT
Only negative I have to say is website needs to be updated, when my wife bought the card I was sceptical and some places were closed down and staff didn't know, but I found that if I called prior or asked before dining that helped a lot, saved wasting time, but I agree more of a internal communication issue there.. If they can work on getting more restaurants on board that would be great and updating the website apart from that, great savings..

the case then I'd suggest putting in a voicemail message that informs customers of this information as it just rings out to no end. I do apologize it's had to come to a forum such as this, but if you can imagine my frustrations from feeling as if I've given my part of the bargain and not received a single benefit yet from the membership. Stay clear of all Connoisseur Club representatives...a genuine warning to potential purchasers.

I got this card a few years ago. To be honest, I wouldn't normally splurge on something like this, but I was a bit naive and the sales people are very good at what they do.
It turned out to be quite disappointing. The restaurants you can choose from are quite limited and as has been mentioned before, some of them have no idea what the card is and refuse to honour it - even though they have the logo displayed on their front window. Overall, the restaurants don't seem all that excited about being part of the club for some reason.

found that once you sign up, even though it's a long-term thing, you don't really feel like you're part of a club. You get an email every now and then, and they share things on their Facebook page from time to time, but it's not all that exciting. As has been mentioned below, their website is very old and clunky and frustrating to use. Their sales process is very compelling, extremely manipulative and their sales people are very good at delivering it (in retrospect, the kid that signed me up was very dishonest and misleading). Be warned - once you engage them, it's hard to say no. Sure, you can get some good deals, but in my opinion the Entertainment book is far better value for money, and far better overall, and seems to be run by a much more ethical company.1 comment

Terrible!
The concept seems fantastic, however trying to cancel due to issues and the no longer need for this. Thinking this was a business about reviewing companies they would be ace and have set a good business standard they we're not apathetic in any way or form and only cared for the bottom dollar. When explaining the staff didn't highlight the termination fully to me they said I should have read all the terms myself and said I had to pay regardless. Poor form.

I've had my card for at least 5 years and have saved a heap of money
Only had one issue that was resolved after calling the club and the restaurant promptly offered me a complimentary meal to return. I would say this is more a internal restaurant communication/ staff issue than anything else
The only down side would be the website
Ideally if restaurants were put in suburbs not just restaurant name so that when we are out We can search by area not just by cities, just needs grouping and fine tuning on searches

Big savings on accommodation!!
I Just used the clubs accommodation link to book a family holiday to Thailand - I couldn't believe the prices I got, (saved a packet). I checked out all the usual websites before I booked, to double check the prices and Connoisseur was the best, even better prices than Wotif !!

Excellent Concept that works
I have now been with Connoisseur Club for over three years. I was very skeptical at first as it is a large sum of money for a Gold card. Never the less, I have easily made that money back through some of the great savings i have gained by using Hotels in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Not to mention the countless free or discounted meals I've had.

d Dining out (I haven't tried the car rentals yet) but i would love to see more services provided in the areas of Health and Fitness - ie. body therapy services and fitness club discounts or even cheaper/free parking options in the major cities...just a few ideas. Working out
I used my gold card to book my hotel accommodation on a recent trip to Bali. It Worked out cheaper than prices I could find on last minute . Com. I'm happy with my card and use it all the time. I'd say I paid of the $1000 investment in the first year easily.

If anyone gets approached to sign up Connoisseur Club dining card then you can kiss your money goodbye. Supposedly for signing up to this scheme and coughing up 1000 dollars +gst you are entitled to one free main meal at restaurants listed in the connoisseur club website. In return for the card you have the duty of rating the restaurant on the connoisseur website. What's in it for the restaurant?

r buying entree and desert and alcohol to make up the money. The problem arises when 9 out of 10 restaurants refuse to honor the card or even acknowledge being part of the scheme. Connoisseur rely on heavy handed sales marketing. Also your credit card details are not safe with this company. After doing a little research this company, i've found it has had many complaints placed against it. I've asked for my money back and currently in discussion with a TV show that exposes this sort of thing. Unfortunately this is the sort of measure I've had to take, but at least some good can come of it and others avoid being misled. It's misleading and fraudulent. Pure and simple.1 comment
