I have minimal to no real road noise from my Continentals, so am surprised with yours. I have only driven about 16 klms on gravel with no problems whatsoever.

I never drove on anything other than normal roads, but had to replace tyres at 17000 km. But the tyres were alright for road noise, it wasn't too bad. These are not durable tyres at all.

On the side wall, just under where it says "ContiSportContact 5 SSR" you'll find the letters MOE. Golfmother is correct, they are not a true run-flat tyre, but offer similar characteristics (see the speel below). My understanding is that if you drive the entire 80 Km at 80 Km/h, the tyre is toast. You might be able to salvage it if you limit your driving distance to 30Km.

Thanks Peter. My review related to the Continental Tyres described for my BMW 328i. The world of tyres is very difficult. Many vehicles - for expense saving reasons, under tyre their cars - others do the run flat, no doubt to save the cost and space of a spare wheel. If your car is under tyred as I am told mine is, then the consequence is low kms's. I have had two sets of Continentals in 55,000kms which is shocking. I am now trying Perelli but mine have to be run flat (no spare) so limited choice. They will cost about $350 each. I can only suggest you ask a BIG tyre shop - Bob Jane - ask for the owner - have access to all brands? what they know about your car and be guided by them. Continental tyres come in a lot of upmarket continental vehicles from new but all that suggests is they won the bidding for supply and nothing for expected performance. Are they cheaper for a reason? Methinks in my case - yes - under tyred. You will find a sticker on your vehicle - door pillar, which designates the tyre sizes you should/can/advised by the manufacturer to fit and varying from this could have insurance implications ie modifications. Sorry I can't be more specific.

If your tyre shop doesn't know much about Continental tyres, I'd look for another tyre shop. Continental have been around for years and are one of the premium brands. It would be like saying they don't know much about Pirelli or Michelin tyres. Conti's are a good tyre, however can I suggest buying the tyre that was fitted when the vehicle was originally sold. My car came with Conti's as OEM (Contisportcontcat 2) and I am only looking to replace them now after 48,000 km's. That's a great run for a heavy SUV. My mechanic recommended replacing with the same as the tyres were made for this specific car and he said I would only get half the life out of another tyre. There are plenty who write on sites saying they are replacing tyres after 25,000 km's. Whilst you pay a little more for Cont's they handle, ride and last longer. I'm about to buy 4 more at $435 a corner. If they last 4 yrs and 50,000 km's again I think that's a good deal. You've read the reviews, now it's over to you.

Hi Ravi, unfortunately there is no real way to easily answer this question. For a starters, all of the tyres you mentioned are priced very differently, though no to say that they're technically any better. The tyres may perform better or worse depending on the model of car even with regards to size of the tyre may influence the result. The best bet is ask someone on a model specific forum who runs a similar size & go with their "guinea pig" assessment. Cheers.

I bought these tyer last year. I'm happy with that. Still a little bit noisy same as other tyer but its good.

The tyre walls on these are fairly soft say, compared to the stiff sidewalls on the Hankooks I had on my MINI Copper S. The suspension travel in the MINI is only about 3" so the variation in tyre construction is immediately noticeable. Though, therein lies the compromise. The turn in feels a little less direct. So I compensate by putting more air in the tyres. I run about 38 PSI.

I had this on last January 21,2017. The size is 235/50 R18, I put it on Mitsubishi ASX previously fitted with a Dunlop SP270 sport, 215/60 R17. Comparably YES, it has lessen the bumpy ride of my vehicle. It dampens a bit the slightest bump or uneven road surfaces. I dont know if it has to do with the tyre size or the tyre itself.
With the steering it improves dramatically, handling yes and ride as well.

280 on US sites. Just Google contisport 5 tread wear. The latest ss commodore are now running with them from factory. Only had contisport put on my Renault clio a few months ago. Awesome grip. But I'm prepared to expect 20k. My previous Michelins lasted 40k. Also have Michelin pilot sport 3 on my VE SS wagon. Still have them after 40k! But need replacing before rego in Nov. Good tyre but not as grippy as contisport. Quiet too.

The 6P's have just come out. I put them on the rear to replace the worn 5P's (that averaged 18,000km over 2 sets) and these have a much higher wear rating so will be interesting to see how they go. So far they dont seem quite as sticky as the 5P's but still have excellent grip. it may just be I need to wear them down a bit more to give a true assessment but so far so good. Waiting on the 6P's to become available for the front now.

VY2 Clubsport update! 2500 ks into the run on these Proxes T1 Sport and they are still great and wearing well on both inside & outside walls I have tested this tyre to the cars limits in the Wet and it still amazes me how good it is! A quiet tyre and just as good in the dry.For my money so fsr so great! I Love em!!
