Just what I wanted - not a good fishing kayak though
I was after a fast and efficient kayak for exploring and fitness paddling, and this sure didn't disappoint. It's definitely that. I think it carries my overweight body quite well (I'm over 110kg) and my whole family can paddle it easily, including my youngest who weighs 45kg. However; that means I have to share it when I go out for a family paddle because its now everyone's favourite kayak... It seems to do fine with my weight - with the scuppers out I only get a few inches of water in the footwell area (impressively I find it keeps my butt dry...Read more
). I bought the fishing model because I wanted the centre console - it holds an iphone in a waterproof case perfectly, and it gives something to grip onto with your thighs. I'm not sure I'll be using it much for fishing though. I've got a couple of cheap short/fat kayaks that are much better suited to that. I've been out in the Midway about 10 times now and its definitely a lot more unstable than my fishing kayaks. Having said that, it can lean over quite a way before tipping and the only times I've ever tipped it (so far) have been when I've done it deliberately. I've had it out in some decent swells and it was fine. The only things I don't like about it are the lack of a place to put a drink bottle (ironically, this drove me to discover the Camelback pouch in my lifejacket which is a much better option), and I think the centre console could be designed better. The build quality is very good otherwise.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

First in a long time
I recently purchasd the dag Angler midway with the rudder . After a few minutes setting up the rudder and rudder peddles went for a paddle, initially a little wobbly but if i had paddled a kayak in the last year instead of thirty im sure it would not have been . I love this kayak its a great all rounder . It moves forward into a headwind faster than i expected, steers well but much faster with the rudder which makes turning effortless . It sits well in the water does not try and roll over which i tested and found surprisingly hard to do. Over ...Read more

DAG Midway good all rounder.
I bought the fishing model with the rubber hatch, so far no leaks there. I am used to a sea kayak so whilst I didn't find it tippy, I would say it is a boat that would be better for someone over 80-90kg rather than under. I think this would only be an issue if you wanted to fish from it rather than just paddle.
It is fast for a SOT, I can keep up with Sea kayaks at touring pace without much more effort than in a Sea kayak. Good fit out and strong mounting point for thigh braces etc. (recommended). Handling seems pretty good, you could live wi...Read more

DAG Midway Angler Good
Collected this from the C Kayaks Taren Point shop 2 weeks ago watching [name removed] (the store manager) unwrap pandoras box was interesting my 1st thought was this is a new concept a sea kayak hull sandwiched to a S.O.T. deck & at 4.4M long & 0.65M wide it will be quick & tippy.
Decided on a cautious start so took it to the local river for its 1st trip & compared to what I have been paddling it felt allot more wobbly (I was expecting this) also being long without a rudder I had to remember some paddle strokes (wide, back, drag etc)but found t...Read more
hat it tracked well & turned acceptably for a yak of this size ow yes & it was fast .So a bit wobbly but after 20 minuets I had adapted to this after all it is not a "Barge" now for a secondary stability check [url removed] well that was interesting had to lean it along way to reach the point of no return & being a low centre of gravity re mounting was OK as well so far so good. Yesterday I took it for a fish on Botany Bay & in the more open waters this yak really shows its pedigree & without a back support after a few hours I found the deep seat recess to be reasonably comfortable. Not a lot of built in storage one hatch at the front gives access to a reasonable size compartment between the front tip & a bulkhead & webbing at the back(there are straps in place behind seating area to attach a plastic barrel (which I would go for)& a space between the knees for a small tackle box. This is a reasonably dry ride as long as you take care to fit the scupper plugs firmly which I did not on my 1st paddle (conveniently secured with chord to the deck) two external flush mounts behind the sitting area & also between the knees something that works very well indeed is the external rod holder which is supplied & ok it takes up a bit of deck space but is so convenient not having to stretch forward to reach the rod & also being able to set it at an angle that it does not interfere with paddle strokes. The front is sharp & good rocker have not surf launched it but from the wake of stink boats I'm sure it will perform well it accelerates well keeps up a good cruising speed [url removed] was initially concerned about the lack of a rudder but without it works (ok would be difficult if say you were 4Ks out hit by a strong cross wind)& if its not there you cant get your line wrapped around it (who can honestly say they have never done that. To summarise I enjoyed playing on this yak travelling light its fast & fun I think not really designed for being taken too far out wide but in the bays estuaries & playing in the surf it performed well. fast paddle no rudder
