Happy with cabinet paint but have black fibres in clear coat
I have just used the satin cabinet paint on my laminate vanity and was very happy with the paint result. I’m just reading these reviews now and I’m having the same issue with black fibres in the satin clear coat. I have wiped it off with clean, damp white cotton cloth, changed rollers 4 time, changed tray liner twice and still black fibres! I’ll be returning this tin to Bunnings tomorrow to see if I can source an alternative clear product. Disappointed as I have purchased the tile paint to paint the tiles in my en-suite, which would need a clear coat but don’t want to go to the effort of painting them if the clear coat is going to have black fibres in it.
Purchased in June 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$180.00.

Hi Renee, I have called and spoken to Goren this morning and he advised, as they’re new rollers, and even though I had washed it, to run them out over paper to get the fibres out. I did this, which re... Read more
duced them a bit, but still have the fibres in my clear coat. Suppose this would be a roller issue not a Dulux product issue. Will review my review once I have finished final clear coat. Thanks, Josie.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Would recommended extreme caution if considering using this product
After doing weeks of planning which included a number of discussions with Bunnings staff, following all the preparation direction and being very excited by the prospect of rejuvenating our kitchen benches and tiles from the moment I started applying the top coat it was drying, so fast that it did not allow appropriate time for any lay off, this resulted in streaks and different textures. I applied the two coats 8 hours minimum apart as directed but it did not help and now I am worried because I had to apply the clear coat as we need our kitchen but some of the reviews are saying the clear coat presents with the same problem.
Purchased in May 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$240.00.

Happy with result
Used Renovator paint to spruce up a 30 year old kitchen which was looking dirty and dated. Rather than spending thousands on a new kitchen decided to paint the lot. What attracted me to this product is that you have the option of not having to apply an undercoat and or a final clear coat. I rang the Dulux support line and asked a lot of questions and they were helpful. I tried to clean 30 years of grease build up with sugar soap but ended up using something stronger. Afterwards I washed everything with mild soap and then a light sand and ...Read more
dust. I used the best nap felt roller I could get and application and clean up was easy. For the tiles I applied two coats of untinted paint straight out of the can which gave me a tin glace look and later applied some Delft Blue stickers to break it up. The cupboards were USA Antique and bench tops Gum Forest gray. Very little if any noticeable streaking but unlike some other reviewers I didn't use a clear final coat and frankly I don't think I needed it. But beware total preparation and drying/curing for multiple coats (even with hardener) may take longer than indicated. Its been some six months now and as a hack painter I am happy with the result and visitors are surprised when I tell them I painted the lot. I also painted the vanity cupboards (not tops) in the bathroom and ensuite and they look great (I dipped some pink plastic knobs in the paint to match). The surface is wearing well but you have to be careful not to put hot or abrasive items on the benches as the paint can be scratched but in fairness Dulux does warn against that. If I have to do an occasional touch up, so be it. Total cost $350 including Renovator paint, blind, chrome knobs and handles, four replacement hinges and ceiling paint. l have just bought the Dulux Renovation Range to paint my Tiles and bench top, but seeing all these negative reviews will prob be taking it back and giving it a miss. There are more negative reviews than positive. The Dulux person told me it was a NEW product and the best and easy to use.
