I have received my super king mattress 2 weeks ago and its the latest Ecosa 2 mattress does this have the levels of firmness ie medium/medium to firm and firm or just medium firm to medium, also is it natural latex or is it synthetic latex, also even after 2 weeks of letting the mattress breath it still smells very strong.

Cheers

Hi Derek,

Thanks for your question !

The current mattress has three levels of firmness- medium, medium-firm and firm :)

We no longer use latex, we now use our proprietary Eco-Tex Foam, made using open-Cell technology, this layer contours to your body shape and has the same bouncy feel as latex but is lighter and cooler than latex. It also has a longer lifespan and is safer for individuals with allergies to latex..

Sorry to hear you are noticing a scent with your mattress. Contrary to the above comment, this is NOT a common occurrence. Unlike most other competing brands, our foams are certified by CertiPUR as safe and non-toxic. This means our foams are free from ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants, mercury, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates and are tested to be of low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million). Of course as with any new product, there may be a mild scent for a few days(although as mentioned above it is completely non-toxic), but it should fade away quickly. We recommend you take off the bedding during the day and leave your door and window open to air it out. You can also wash the mattress cover to get rid of the new mattress smell faster :)

Hope this helps! If not, please feel free to reach out to our customer service team :)

Right, the smell has now gone, was there Friday but Sunday has gone completely, found the firm side too firm so using the medium to firm side and already getting use to it after 4 days and now feels comfy, on the firm side had very bad back pain and was only sleeping 4 hours per night and now lower back pain has decreased by 75% using the medium to firm side, hopefully after a few more weeks of my body getting use to the new mattress it will be ZZZZZZZZZZ every night.

Is it true that Ecosa mattresses are mad in China?

2 answers

Rj1

Yes, Anna, it is true that if an Ecosa Mattress crosses the border into mainland china, it becomes rabid and deranged - which is often a risk for local livestock (this is the preferred diet of a mad ecosa mattress).

My suggestion would be to ensure that the Ecosa Mattresses' passport is kept under lock and key at all times.

Ecosa

Hi Anna,

All Ecosa products are manufactured in our very own factory in China from local and imported raw materials. Specifically for our mattress, our raw materials are sourced from Germany (90%), Japan (5%), and China (5%) :)

Is the Ecosa returns policy genuine? I have now spent three days waiting at home for a courier to arrive and each day Ecosa has promised a courier will come, no one has arrived.

That's pretty bad. It was genuine for me but the pickup was done by the salvation army for donation so it wouldnt have been their fault if the salvation army failed to turn up.

Can’t speak from personal experience, however I know of two people who returned theirs with no problem.

Hi Lynzi, We do apologise for the inconvenience caused to you. As we have advised via email this is a case of the courier not following collection instructions and we do apologise that you have been impacted by this. I can see we have reached a resolution and escalated the concern to management within our warehouse(whom booked the courier) as well as the courier service. Here's hoping this will be resolved smoothly moving forward

Hi, I am almost ready to order a queen size Ecosa mattress but would love to hear from someone that has had one for five years or even ten years. Just to check that this product really does maintain its structure like promised. It sounds too good to be true.

Hello, I don't personally know about longevity but just to reassure you, somewhat - these mattresses aren't even remotely light. They are 30-40kg worth of foam. They are horrible to move around (for one person). I have slept on crappy foam mattresses for years and done barely any damage to them. I have seen people talking about the mattress in a box foam mattresses 3-5 years on, saying they are fine - so you're probably okay - but definitely seek other opinions. Hope that slightly helps.

Being over 130kgs sleeping can be a pain. Would you recommend this mattress for a heavier person?

3 answers

Hi Chris :)

Our mattress is designed to cater for sleepers up to 150kg within comprising support or comfort :)

penegeau

the heavier the better for this mattress. If you're less than about 90kgs you'll get bruises and severe shoulder and back pain. They're essentially pieces of rock hard foam and don't soften...which is good for not getting the holes you sleep in into the foam lol But terrible if you plan on losing weight or sleeping on your side.

Chenoa
Chenoa

I agree. Horrible to sleep on. I woke up feeling like I'd been sleeping on a rock! I spent $280 on a memory foam mattress topper from a mattress store and it's helped. I would ever buy a mattress again without trying it in store. Lesson learnt.

Could you confirm if the ecosa mattress has natural latex? Reading some of the Q&A it appears this has changed to a synthetic product?

The Ecosa mattress previously contained natural latex however we have recently removed this completely.

We have replaced this layer with our proprietary Eco-Tex Foam, made using open-Cell technology, this layer contours to your body shape and has the same bouncy feel as latex but is lighter and cooler than latex and also has a longer lifespan and is safer for individuals with allergies to latex.

Im not sure if this question has been asked before but can you please provide me with a breakdown of all the components and chemicals used in the Ecosa mattress? I’ve had a bad allergic reaction to a tempurpedic/memory foam mattress purchased from a big brand company and really do not want to risk this occurring again. Also, are your mattresses ‘breathable’ and do you use any organic/natural components or are the mattresses all synthetic? Thanks

Ecosa
Ecosa JEcosa

Health factors are what matter the most for us, we have made several improvements to this current version:

1. We do not use any flame retardant chemicals instead our flame retardant element is a woven silica sock that sits just under the cover. In a fire, the sock melts on itself and suffocates the oxygen needed to fuel the fire.

2. Though our water-based adhesive is more expensive, it eliminates unnecessary chemicals in your bed.

3. We only use natural latex which is ethically sourced from rubber trees. Our top latex layer is Class 1 OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.

4. The waterproof inner protector is a very high-quality cover made of German microfilament fabric. It is a perfect durable protective barrier against dust mite allergens. Ensures your mattress last long and hygienic.

Ecosa mattress has environmental certifications that ensure they are safe and non-toxic. Our gel memory foam and base support foam are SGS certified. The highest standard that guarantees the foam is safe for use by babies and children.

My mattress came with blue side up (U.S order) which it says is medium. I thought they normally came medium firm up? My question is, after a week it still feels rock hard (and I always buy medium firm) but this is really hard, hurting my and my husbands back (and he NEVER hurts, he sleeps anywhere). Is there a recommendation of what to put on this too help soften it? I would hate to send back, ( I spent 4 months looking for the right mattress and thought this was it). Help!

Hello

We usually recommend to allow 2-4 weeks for your body to adjust to a new mattress and for the foams to soften to your body.

If after this time you are still unhappy, please email our team for further advice

The mattress should take no more than 24 hours to expand fully although it usually expands to full size instantly.

Hi Nick

The mattress topper just sits atop the mattress (does not have to be an Ecosa mattress), it is then secured with elastic loops on each corner

i have had my ecossa mattress for a week and the medium setting (so after it has been flipped) is still very firm. how is this a medium setting compared to other medium mattresses? feels like a plank.

3 answers
Ecosa
Ecosa JEcosa

Hello

There is a difference between the two settings, especially as the foams themselves have different effects. The medium-firm setting is latex on top so has a little more bounce. The medium setting is the gel memory foam on top so will soften and adapt to your body.

We suggest trialling each new setting for 2-4 weeks to allow time for your body to adjust and the foam to soften to your body slightly.

If you have any further questions please feel free to email our support team :)

I'm finding mine the same. I was told I have received their new version which is not advertised on their website. The mattress measures 22cm in depth not 25cm as advertised. I'm trying to return mine.

Hi, I've just been told by your support staff on the NZ site chat, only after asking a question about the fact that my mattress arrived with the blue gel layer on top, that i received an updated version of the mattress that contains synthetic latex instead of natural latex. I cannot find anywhere online that states this, your FAQs on your NZ website that say it is made with natural latex. How come this change has been made with no announcement on your website? Everything I've since been researching about synthetic vs natural latex says that synthetic is cheaper, and not as durable. There don't seem to be any advantages to it. People need to know this fact before they buy it! I wonder how many other people out there bought their mattress thinking it's made with natural latex but they received the same version as me and have no idea? Can you please confirm the certifications of the new type of latex being used also?

Hi Cesar,

Tammy contacted us privately and her query was responded to. The product received both by Tammy in NZ and yourself in AUS were meant to be quarantined until the products release date but errors have been made in these cases by the warehouse by shipping these goods early.
Our management team have responded to your email too to provide full information of this.

I have been told I was sent it in error, but not really received any kind of apology or any resolution or explanation for the error. I am still waiting to hear about results of the investigation and that other people have been informed of the error?

Hi, I'm in New Zealand and am just about to purchase the Queen mattress but cannot find any fitted sheets with a 25cm wall depth. Please can you supply me with a link or an exact store where you know for certain I can get fitted sheets for this mattress? I don't want a loose or flat sheet. I have been told by Ecosa on facebook that the 'standard' sheets for nz will fit this mattress. Can i please have a link to where i can buy the 'standard' sheets as the only depths i can seem to find online for a queen is 35cm or 40cm dept?. Thanks in advance. Gill

1 answer
Ecosa
Ecosa JEcosa

Hi Gill

That is correct, standard sheet sets will suit our mattress. The mattress is 25cm in height but you need a sheet with a slightly deeper wall to allow room for it to be tucked under(and stay tucked under) as a wall that is too shallow will just cause the sheet to become easily untucked. Any sheet with a depth of 35-45cm will be suitable and is what is used by the majority of our customers.

Ecosa Australia sell bamboo sheet sets(which are unfortunately not yet available in New Zealand), the Queen size has a depth of 43.2cm and this is suitable and intended for use with our mattress so anything within the range of 35-45cm will be perfectly fine
.

We just bought this mattress an it has a strong smell, what is it? My wife is sleeping on the couch tonight because of the smell. She says it's because of chemicals. Is that true? Thank you.

Hi Jeremy

Like with any new product, there may be a mild scent for a few days, but it should fade away quickly. Most people do not notice a smell at all but if you do we recommend you take off the bedding during the day and leave your door and window open to air it out. You can also wash the mattress cover to get rid of the new mattress smell faster.

All the foams in the Ecosa mattress have environmental certifications that ensure they are safe and non-toxic. Our gel memory foam and base support foam are SGS certified. I just want to say it wasn't a mild smell, it's so strong it gave us a headache. Not happy with these mattress. Now trying to send them back is another challenge. I bought 2 twin xl for making a king bed because we have individual adjustable bed frames. They stipulate that the return policy is 1 mattress per household. Not very happy with how this is being handled.

Ecosa
Ecosa JEcosa

Hi Jeremy,

Sorry to hear this, as you are in the US, the information provided in my previous response is slightly incorrect as the mattress in the US is actually certified by CertiPUR US as well as Oeko-Tex- but not SGS. This means that our mattress is made without ozone depleters, made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (”Tris”) flame retardants, made without mercury, lead, and other heavy metals, made without formaldehyde, made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and ***low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)***.

Our return policy does state "This policy is limited to one (1) mattress to be returned or exchanged per household"

We apologise for any inconvenience
