Yes BUT I would not recommend this machine to anyone - it is extremely difficult to thread, the instructions are woeful - if you are going to buy it insist that they demonstrate how to thread all four needles. I found I needed special wire loops to get the thread around the machinery - which were not supplied and not even available in the store (I got them online). Find a better machine that's easier to thread.

I would go back a double check the threading of the machine . I had to watch a YouTube clip to find out I was missing one hole that is difficult to get to and easily missed

Hi all. I am totally new to sewing. What numbers do I use on my dials to sew activewear/Lycra .... I want to be able to do a flat seam join thing. Oh gosh I don’t know what you call it . Also can you do regular stretch stitch without the cutter for the hems? ... I purchased second hand to save money and no manual .... argh

The flat seam is called a flatlock. It is a special machine. You can do a faux one with an overlocker but it does not have much strength, so you would have to overlocker first, then do it as a decorative topstitch

I would take it back to where you bought it and ask them to help you. I bought mine at Spotlight. They were quite helpful with after sale service. I also contacted the manufacture themselves but they didn’t want to know me. My advice, buy a new one but not the same brand. I’ve moved to Bernini. Lots of help and friendly service.

I brought this over locker a few years back but never needed to use it. Got it out to use it the other day, did the first seam no problem but the thread snapped on the second seam. I rethreaded it as per the manual but now i have no chain. How can i fix this?

All I can say is follow the threading instructions thoroughly . There are a few sections I was missing that are hard to get to . You need to go through the side with one of the threads

Hi Rosemary, it's one of the reasons I got a refund as I could not get the setting right either, no matter what I tried. After breaking 8 needles I gave up so unfortunately I can't advise you what settings are right. Good luck with it!

I'm so over this machine. I have re threaded step by step watched the DVD, read the manual but every time i go to sew the lower looper thread somehow unthreads itself. I want a refund to purchase a better machine but Spotlight insist it is a warranty issue so I have no chance of that happening . Also I have broken 8 needles and that was before i started having issues with the threading. I have not been able to use this machine to sew anything as yet. If anyone can tell me what i'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated?

Hi, it's not you.....it's the machine. I too had exaxtly the same problems and Spotlight told me the same thing. I offered extra $400 to purchase a better machine and after 3 months they finally let me purchase a new machine. I got the worst customer service ever. I now own a Singer 14SH654 and it's 10 times better than the Elna. Stand your ground and insist they give you the option of purchasing a better machine

Thankyou for your response. I will keep on Spotlights back and continue to demand a refund . It's really not good enough that so many people are having issues and they know about the problem but continue to sell defective products :(

The lowerlooper is the worst to thread and should be last. Follow the green colours then there is 1 green going from right to left through the opening under. There is another green slot going from left to right. Watch video again and pause at each step. I had same problem. Had to wait til I was calm otherwise might have thrown through window lol.

Thanks for that. Ive had mine for awhile so doubt I have a receipt. I'm a beginner so thought the problems were mine. I've tried everything but no luck. Bought it from Spotlight so don't like my chances.

Hi Carol, open the front cover and to the left of the machine you'll see S & R and a sliding tab. I found the tab very hard to push from one to the other.

Sandi

Hi Carol, You need to open both the side and front covers, push in the back smaller knob and twist down the upper cutting knife to deactivate it, then push in the front knob with the spring on it while you pull the lever from S to R or back again. Then release this spring knob and push in and twist up the cutting knife back to its normal position. Hope this helps.

Turn the little screw above the needle ( leave it threaded In case you drop it) and pull out. Pop in a new one, screw it in and thrn rethread it.

Thread keeps breaking on the underlooper I've had the machine for a few years, this is the first problem, any suggestions?

Always check every step of the threading especially underneath. Sometimes it looks perfectly threaded but can be looped around something that doesn't show up until you hand wheel it slowly and observe. If the threading is correct the other problem can be a burr on any of the metal parts (upper or underneath)if you have ever broken a needle.
Hope this helps.
