Is it possible to use a rotisseri with the lid down on the furnace?

Hi Samuel, the FURNACE is not fitted with a rotisserie and does not have any openings on the sides to allow a rotisserie to operate while the hood is closed. If you are after a product in the range that features built-in rotisserie, we would suggest looking at the HUB or FUSION

Hi Tony M I have cooked a large family chicken from Coles in the Furnace. You be surprised how much room its got. I use a low tray and baste with pan juices. It is a great oven on hot summer days. Happy cooking. Bev

Hi Tony, yes you can definitely roast a whole chicken on the FURNACE. The hood is also large enough to roast a 7kg turkey on our roasting rack. You can check out a short video with Heston's tips for roasting on the FURNACE/FORCE here:

Bought it yesterday. Very hard to buy/find the accessories. No one keeps stock - checked Bunnings, Bing Lee, Harvey Norman of Liverpool Area. Anyway, looking for advise on COnverting the LPG system to Natural Gas (Connect with my outdoor Gas outlet of NG). Anyone have done it? Is it Plug & Play or I need a plumber? Thanks.

Have used my Force for the first time (have sent a question about roasting). I've not had a bbq before and didn't know you needed to season the plates.
There is some burnt on marks that I am unable to remove. I don't believe I read anything in the instructions about seasoning. Should i do this everytime I cook?
Thank you

Hi Robyn, yes we recommend lightly seasoning the plates with some canola/vegetable oil before and after each use.
If roasting, we recommend using a roasting rack, like the one available in our range: http://bit.ly/2hT7pnR
You can also see our video about roasting on the FORCE, here: http://bit.ly/2iCYL9Z
For cleaning, we suggest using some baking soda with a dampcloth or sponge.

Hi there
We used our Furnace for the first time tonight and found that the steak and sausages were sticking to the plate and grills a lot. Should we have completed any pre treatment?
Thanks

Hey Heather,
I use coconut oil (you can use olive oil) on room temperature steaks with seasoning before I add them to the flat plate and move steak around slightly as you place it on the flat plate and then flip every 20 to 30 seconds until desired temperature is reached, I use a temperature probe and get perfect steak every time! I don’t have a problem with sausages sticking but I also cook these on the flat plate and finish both on the grill to give those wonderful scoring marks!
Don’t forget to light the grill and then put down the hood and heat for about 5mins before you cook, so those plates are searing!
Hope that helps but keep experimenting as it’s a great grill! I’m slow roasting a lamb shoulder tonight and smoking it in red gum wood chips soaked in bourbon!
Enjoy!

Hi Heather, as suggested over email we recommend lightly seasoning the grills with some canola / vegetable oil before and after use. I believe you are chatting further with our Executive Chef about this issue with cast iron plates - please let us know if there was anything else we could help you with

We have just purchased a Furnace. We are finding that so far we could not get it hot enough to cook steak properly. I have tried it once with the lid down then again with the lid up, and both times the steak cooked too slowly and was tough. I have tried it with some marinated chicken wings (lid down) and it worked ok but we need to be able to cook a steak on it otherwise why bother? Can you please provide some advice .

Hi NeetCookie,

The Furnace is the most powerful BBQ of its class in the world and is really great for open grilling. We will contact you directly and personally guide you through the technique.
Could you please private message us with a contact phone number or email address.

Thank you, the Everdure by Heston Team.

I would agree that it isn't very hot. Claims that it is the most powerful BBQ in it's class need to be taken with a grain of salt. The unit is DEFINITELY more powerful than any Weber Q but it isn't as powerful per area (which is what counts when searing a steak) as the Sunbeam Innovo I had previously. The BBQ also isn't as powerful as many (most?) old-school type BBQs. I would describe it as just acceptable for open grilling but to get a good sear on steak or skin on the salmon it struggles where the Innovo would do it easily. To get good results you must warm the BBQ up to ~200C before any grilling, then use the retained heat to sear the steak. Also the middle burner is noticeably hotter than the edges ;)
