Service availability
If you live in the Canberra area don't expect much in the way of sevice or repairs to the Fiat Ducato. It is currently a six week wait!! Next nearest service centre is Sydney - just what you need if you are broken down.

Automatic gearbox problems, longevity of Fiat components.
March2015 AT 77000KM,Fiat Chrysler dealer took 3 days to diagnose leaking clutch slave cylinder problem, with Fiat technical dept help.Took vehicle to an independent transmission repairer, who knew all about the fault,as they repair on a regular basis for the local Fiat dealer.Took a week to repair,at a cost of $5300,inc. replacement of clutch and master cyl.,engine and transmission had to be removed and replaced. So total cost inc. tilt tray$275,and accommodation, approx $7000.Replacement parts were the same as failed ones,so one can presume this...Read more
has to be done every 80,000km or so. 3 months previously transmission accumulator had failed, cost inc repair and tilt tray $2000.,a year before throttle control failed cost $1500.Rang Fiat commercial consumer line, professed no knowledge of the problem. If Fiat want to succeed in this country, they need to recognise and rectify their problems,as other manufacturers do,and also be better in dealing with customer complaint and problems. It should be noted that this vehicle travels from Cairns to Victoria once a year, and is not used as a car, ie the clutch part of the transmission has not been used extensively, so it can be presumed that it would not have lasted this long if being driven as some vehicles would. July 20th 2016 Update: Follow up to my previous experiences, automatic transmission problems I was eventually contacted by a very helpful person from Fiat head office, who eventually refunded approx. $2100 towards my costs. Aprox 12,000km later, at 90000km, the master cylinder for the cluch operating system, on the automatic transmission failed, putting me to further cost and inconvenience. So for a vehicle which has still not travelled 100,000km, I have to say this is a very poor performance.3 comments
Further follow up 92,000 km,Now transmission warning light comes on intermittently, when this happens all gears, are lost/unavailable,ie no drive. You have to coast to a stop, and hope that, at some time ... Read more
,after stopping and starting the engine, you can get drive back again!Fiat dealer, checked system with analiaser, and yes fault codes are shown, but nobody can say where the fault was!So one drives off,and hopes,it may have been due to,perhaps a faulty connection. I have to say this doesnt instill much confidence, or faith in the vehicle, wondering if this will occur,in a remote location, resulting in a very heavy bill for a tilt tray. All,of this, and the above for a vehicle, brought new,and with regular,Fiat sevicing, that has yet to cover 100,000km.Perhaps,its time for Fiat,to back its product, and maybe rework, this troublesome area.I should add, that Fiat did pick up,the last bill for the analysis.A further follow up to my saga of owning a Fiat Ducatto.I have now sold the vehicle after owing it from new, after exactly ten years. Please see the previous details i have written before.

Fiat Customer service is a joke
We have a 2013 fiat ducato. The oil filters has burst 3 times and all fiat will do to mask the problem is change the oil and filter and send us on our way. Each time this happens the vehicle is there for several weeks before they even look at it. Then fiat customer service just gives you the run around, saying that you need to take this up with your dealer, who no longer sells the vehicles anymore because the customer service is rubbish. The price of this car is attractive when buying, but stay away from them, as they will end up costing you much more then any other vans on the road with repair time and they try to hit you up for repair cost too. Fiat australia you should a shamed of your selves. Fix your problems properly

Fiat ducato servicing. What a joke
We have a Fiat Ducato 2013 model. Its a great size vehicle for a delivery van and drives well when its not in getting repaired. The big problem is that there is no one left in Sydney to fix it. We bought the vehicle new from Heartland Castle hill 14 months ago. They no longer repair Fiat and have wiped there hands from any resposibility. Windsor also are no longer Fiat dealers, also Nepean motor group don't want to touch them anymore either. We finally had it towed to Warren Landsvale. They are unable to even look at it for a week and are unab...Read more
le to loan a vehicle. Fiat customer service is a waste of time, they just give you the run around with never a solution. We have recently cancelled our order for anymore Ducato's and bought VW Crafter's. The VW doesn't drive as nice but the customer care couldn't be as bad. Fiat Australia you are shocking. Your Ceo Sergio said in a report, that he wants to fix the problem with Fiat in Australia. I don't think he would be too happy .Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

No need to fear.
When my 2010 Fiat Ducato suffered a leaking clutch slave cylinder I was expecting a difficult time with parts having to come from Italy. Cricks Auto at Noosa (a new Fiat Dealer) had the clutch rebuilt and on the road in 12 days. A big thumbs up for Cricks and Fiat.
The vehicle was still under warranty.
It's not under warranty now.

Never again.
Good looking van, very nice to drive and well equipped. I believe it is the only van that can carry 2T.
But, after 60 K ( 1 year old ) is the clutch gone, and fiat doesn't come to the party. Around 3.5 grant to replace the clutch. The tyres are very expensive to, 500 each.
Nice to drive.
Clutch gone after 60K

most everywhere. Replaced the switch for the ac 2 times, a new starter motor, new taillights( circuit burnt out ), a fuel leak above the fuel tank. A starter motor from fiat Au $980, got on send over from the UK in 3 days, $295. We get so ripped off by fiat for parts in AU. Never had any engine problems, all by all had a good run. Don't know if I buy a new one though.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I had a crash in my 2014 ducato van. The insurance company is now Investigating it because at some point a mechenic has drilled about 10 holes in the stainless intake pipe. Does anyone know what the reason for doing this is. Is it a cheap fix for a common problem in this model? Thanks Ben

I have 2015 Fiat Ducato lwb. After picking it up from a service/starter motor fix, screen showed 'use less gear changes'. Next morning, screen showed 'gear not available & was stuck in neutral. Gearstick could still move around, but screen always stays 'N'. Any help or advice?????

Sounds suspiciously like low auto transmission fluid. probably was not checkrd when they did the service. Reason for that is that it is an absolute mongrel to check
Is your van an AMT. if so check fluid level for the clutch. if that doesn't work you will have to go back to the dealership. unfortunately there are hundreds of fiat vans doing this. Its a dangerous issue when you loose gears and you need to report it, the more of us who do this will eventually get something done about theses vehicles

id,and had to be replaced.Luckily towing was not required this time, but i lost two days, and had 400km of extra travel. It should also be mentioned that the replacement transmission accumulator, failed at approx.80,000km,eventually after much dicussion with Fiat the total ammount was refunded! However, this episode caused me a further delay of approx 4 weeks,as the dealer was so so busy!!!The huge time delay was because the Fiat dealer thought that the whole engine/trasmission had to be removed again,to replace what they thought was components that had failed again,ie either the clutch or slave cylinder. At the last minute,as the transmission was about to be removed, the second failure of the accumulator was finally diagnosed! So my conclusion is that,Fiat dealers are lacking in training, with regard to diagnosing problems, and seem to lack the capacity, and resources to service warrenty and other problems,in these vehicles.I should add that i do not include the longer term Fiat dealers, who have been asociated with the Fiat product, prior to their involvement with Chrysler,These i have found very knowledgable, helpful, and go out of their way to get you mobile again.Unfortunatly it is not always possible to breakdown,or have the option of getting to these dealers.
