Smelly and tracks throughout the house
This litter does nothing to control the smell of cat wee and it also sticks to our cat's paws so he walks it through the house. We've since changed to Ozpet which does an excellent job of odour control and the pellets are much bigger so no tracking.

Good product overall, but tracks a lot & doesnt clump the wee very well
I like the fact that it is made from recycled paper, so it is really non-toxic for the cat. It's good that a company cares enough for the environment and cats that they produce a product like this that is generally safer than a lot of other types that you can buy, so kudos to the manufacturer of this product.
I dont really like that it tracks all over the house and the wee doesnt clump together so I am removing clean pellets as well as the wet ones when I clean it. The tracking is annoying because there are little tiny bits of the paper (not...Read more
just the pellets) around my cat's kitty litter, which I have to basically clean every day (the tracking that is, her litter is always clean) and because those bits are tiny, it means I have to mop up around her litter every day. And when I am gathering up the pellets that are wet due to the cat's wee, I cant just get them only, I am also gathering up the clean ones, because the pellets dont clump together well. It's just a bit of a waste, as far as I am concerned. Overall it's pretty good, but it would be better if it (a) clumped the wee better and (b) didnt track so much. And in saying all this, I am still using the product, depsites the drawbacks outlined, as it is the only one which is the most natural and is my only choice really. I would give this product a 3.5/5, but as I cant give 1/2 scores, I've rounded it down to the lower score of 3/5. The product itself is okay, but there are some drawbacks.Similar opinion? Love the idea but quite smelly
I really wanted to love this product, and the breeder recommended it as well. However, I found that it was next to impossible to spot clean well because the wet paper pellets went everywhere, and despite cleaning it twice a day and disinfecting the tray regularly, we always had an unpleasant cat urine smell lingering around. We've now switched to Applaws which is also environmentally friendly, but works much better for us.
Having said that, I think I'll use this product in an outdoor tray once we get our cat enclosure built.
Environmentally friendly
Smelly

Environmentally & Kitty friendly!!!
Kittens have very sensitive paws, which is why its important not to use the crystal or chemical based cat litter. We use this product because its environmentally friendly, but also cat friendly. We remove the kittens stool regularly, and the smell has never been an issue for us (I'm especially sensitive to odors). We replace the whole tray weekly, and use an under-liner that makes it easy to dispose of neatly. We will continue using this product and will never resort to the crystal or chemical options; they really should not be made available on the shops shelves!
Environmentally friendly, cat safe

My Bengals love it, and I love it because it doesn't smell.
Having two male Bengals requires two deep litter trays, and I also add sand to make it more economical, and more natural for them to dig in.
They also have an outdoor but enclosed garden to use at any time but use the litter trays on a daily basis.
I clean the litter trays each morning and only have to remove the soil and wet patch of litter and sand. There is no smell once I've done that and I could easily leave it a month without emptying and cleaning the actual tray as the odour is completely gone. I tried may litters before settling on Breeders choice and have been using it for 8 years. It's the best.
Quality litter, really efficient at odour control, easy to separate from unused litter or tray.

My cat loves this, he seems to prefer it to all the other brands. He seems to enjoy scratching in it. The cat I had before him loved it too, it was the only one that didn't cause him to cough (he had asthma).
Soft on paws, recycled paper, doesn't have a harsh smell. Suitable for cats with asthma or breathing problems as there's no ashy cloud like most litters.
Bits do go around the house a bit even with a litter mat outside the box!

Easy to use but smelly!
We have been using this litter for a few years now. Because the grains are so large we have found it very easy to clean, most of the time it just slides out of the box, rarely sticking. However it does not appear to do much to control the smell, although this might just be our smelly cats.
Easy to clean.
Does not contain the smell very well.

We had two cats who were quite finicky about where they put their poop, and this was the only brand where they would actually use it. I think it must have felt nice under their feet. Most crystal type litters are so sharp and it even looks like glass - no wonder our cats would not use it! Overall good product and value for money. A huge bag would cost us $18 and last 2 cats 1-2 months.
Does not clump horribly like clay litters. Good odour control. Recycled product
I have no complaints - it does what it is meant to

Easy to handle and the cats love using it. I do however find they love to play in it, which makes a bit of a mess. Its a bit annoying to find bits of it all over the house, stuck to bottom of shoes etc. Otherwise a great litter thats great for the environment too. You can even recycle the packaging. Havent found the odour control great though, but maybe thats because a have four stinky kittens! Great litter overall, definitely worth a try.
The cats & kittens love it. Recycled & natural
They love it that much they flick it everywhere!

Great product, but tracks everywhere
This is a great product as it lasts awhile before you have to change it over, keeps smells at bay, is a safe litter to use (especially for kittens). However I had to stop using it because my cat kept getting it stuck in his fur & i'd find litter pieces all over the house. When i found some on my pillow it was the final straw!
Supermarkets stock it, good price, cat likes it
You'll find it all over your house!

Terrible
As I had a very old cat with kidney problems, I went through tons of litter each week. This brand was the easiest to use from my point of view and the cat liked it but preferred Dr Harry's brand (too expensive given the amount needed for this cat). Claims on the packaging stated it could be flushed down the toilet. I tried this for a short time, only scooping small, soiled patches out and disposing of them in the toilet. This resulted in blocked pipes so bad that nothing would dislodge them. A plumber finally managed to clear the blockage ...Read more
after more than 2 hours of trying everything including accessing the blocked pipes in the basement where they entered the mains sewer. His bill came to $262. I live in a brand new apartment so the blockage could not be blamed on age or corrosion of the pipes. I wrote to the manufacturer in Queensland (I live in NSW) informing them of the problems I'd had and suggesting they change their marketing as the product clearly was not suitable for disposal in domestic toilets. I sent a photocopy of the plumber's invoice and asked if they could reimburse me for at least some of the cost. The general manager actually rang the plumber (his phone number was on the invoice), got my home telephone number from the plumber's records (I have an unlisted number) and telephoned me at home early one morning before work. He must have had to get up with the chooks given the time difference. His only concern was to determine whether the product had caused the blockage or whether it was other factors. Apparently the plumber could not confirm that the blocked pipes were caused directly by flushing this product down. Subsequently the manufacturer never replied to my letter and further attempts to contact him by phone were unsuccessful. I would not recommend this product if your only disposal method is down the toilet. It will cost you a fortune in plumber's fees. Easy to use, cats seem to like it. Misleading marketing - product doesn't live up to its claims of being flushible down the toilet.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I changed to this kitty litter after using a clay kitty litter for a long time as I found out that the type of clay used could cause respiratory problems. The thing I really like about this product is there is no dust when you handle it or fill the tray, I used to hold my breath with the clay product as it made me cough. It is also made from recycled paper so this is a great use for it and I feel is very safe for my cat to use. My cat does seem to like this product as it is light and soft and being biodegradable I can just dig a hole in the garden to bury the used litter.
light and soft, recycled product

We were recommended this product by a very enthusiastic stranger in the supermarket and they were correct. It is reasonably priced yet very effective at doing 'the business'. It is especially good at containing odours. the litter can also be flushed down toilets although we haven't tried this out due to having an old septic system. We have stuck with this brand for years and have had no regrets at all. I would definitely recommend this product to others.
The litter and packaging are both made from recycled and natural materials. The litter is effective at providing good odour control and is economical.

I was amazed fromthe word go when I discovered this product.I have always kept cats and over the years have tried numerous types of cat litter. Most of them I found to be messy and smelt worse than the cats business! Also some of them were so harsh and granular I was concerned they might hurt my cats bottoms. This litter is eco-friendly which is a big plus to me - I always try to use products that are made from recycled materials and this is so good that after kitty has ised it it can be put on your garden beds to make a wonderful mulch. It just doesn't smell at all and you wouldn't know it was in my house.I like the variety of sizes too.
Absolutely brilliant!

I have no problem with this one. I used this brand since day one that I got my first cat as recommended by the breeder where we got our cats from. My breeder is against the clumping type because she said cats swallow the litter when they clean their paws that have clump stuck on and the litter swells in their tum and makes the cats feel sick. I never considered other brands because of the fact that this brand is made from recycled papers so it's chemical free for my cats. I never had a problem with the odour like other reviewers said. as a common sense you need to scoop out the dirty part of cat litter more than once a day though. I do that several times a day. You wouldn't leave your toilet un-flushed until the end of the day, would you? Cats are very specific when it comes to toilet. If it's dirty they won't go in, and they will hold it until they find a place they can go. I have two cats, they both use the same litter. No problem at all if you scoop the dirty litter more than once a day. And you'll find that you won't have to clean the whole litter tray that often :) Environmentally friendly, well absorbent. none.. except that sometimes pet warehouses didn't have the stock and I was forced to buy a smaller size from supermarket, which is of course sold at more expensive prices.Similar opinion? I used to use this litter alot due to being able to buy the large size bags at a good price, I didnt mind it but found it was very messy and the cats would kick it out of the tray and onto the floor. It would hurt your feet if you stepped on it without shoes on! I found though I was able to use a small amount if i layed newspaper down first so it would last for a while and it was easy to dispose of. I have since stopped using it though for another brand.

My vet also recommended this to me and my cats like it, but it doesn't seem to cover up the smell of urine at all. In fact, I've never had a litter that smelled so much. I scoop it daily like it says but I have to do a full change after only 2 days, not a week or the urine smell is overpowering.
I do like that it doesn't track much and that it's good for the environment.
Environmentally friendly.
Low tracking.
Expensive.
Doesn't stop smells.

I like the fact that this is a biodegradable product and is good for the environment but I have found it to be a lot more messy than other hardier cat litters out there. It is a bit more expensive as well and I found that it was a bit yucky to use after a while and you end up having to change the litter box a lot.
Expensive and can get messy after it has been in the litter tray too long. Not my favourite type of cat litter to use.
Good for the environment, comes in good sized bags.

How do you scoop out wet pellets? My kittens make sure to thoroughly mix it after they finish, and if I don't attend to the litter tray in first 30 minutes - it all dries off!
1 answer
I don't bother if it is all mixed in and dry. I scoop out what I can (wet pellets) and change it all mid-week. Obviously, I scoop the yukky stuff out daily; several times if I am home.
Faye E.asked
Is it safe to flush the kitty faeces down the toilet?
1 answer
Apparently not. The litter will block the toilet eventually and cats have something in their droppings (probably the thing that effects pregnant women if they come into contact with it) that is not able to be treated at the sewerage treatment facility and therefore will get into our sea and possibly impact on the wildlife ( I kid you not!!)
cat loverasked
My kittens are eating the litter. Will it cause harm or blockage?
3 answers
Sorry, I really don't know. Best to ask your vet!
Would you eat toilet paper ?
Its always best starting kittens off with sand based litter.
Sorry, I'm not an expert either but when I asked my vet and also vet nurse about using Paper base cat litters to train my puppy to go toliet on they both told me that if the cat litter is eaten it will swell up inside the stomach and could block in the intestines.
I used this BREEDER CHOICE CAT LITTER with all 3 of my cats when they were kittens (I was lucky as they never used to eat it) but I used to put a few sheets of newspaper at the bottom of the large size cat litter tray then put the BREEDER CHOICE CAT LITTER on the top of the newspaper, you don't have to use alot of cat litter as the newspaper will help. I also preferred this way as it was a very quick, clean way to clean the cat litter tray as I changed it every morning and all you have to do is pick up the cat litter with the newspaper and just throw it into a plastic bag and put it into the garbage bin and then just put some liquid soap or disinfectant in the litter tray and hose it out and then wipe with a paper towel to dry it or put out in the sun to dry and then put the newspaper and cat litter again.
You can maybe try and teach your kittens not to eat it by maybe when you see they are about to put it in their mouth maybe correct them by saying " No!" or something like that and if possible maybe try to take it out of their mouth as you will be amazed just how much a kitten or cat will understand and will learn that they doing the wrong thing.
