Amendment to previous review: still not as good as previous model but better than I thought!
My old single DishDrawer got a fault in the electrics. I got a new one from David Jones in February 2014 and had problems with it but it was replaced by Fisher & Paykel and I was still dissatisfied. However, I only have room in my kitchen for a small dishwasher so had to suck it up. I left an unfavourable review but would now like to amend it slightly.
In the first review, I noted the manufacturer recommended I use Finish dish powder. I bought Finish dishgel instead because it was on special. That bottle of dishwashing gel lasted me until ab...Read more
out October 2014 (7 months!). I then purchased Finish Dishpowder and I've got to say, suddenly the dishwasher is washing the cups properly and they no longer have stains. I can't believe the powder can make this much difference! The dishwasher is still not quite so good as the previous model because the cups/glasses don't stack so well. Apart from that, very pleased that it is now cleaning the cups properly without my having to bleach or scrub them after every wash!1 comment

Purchased two of them even...
Original double draw purchased in 2003. 2nd generation. Two years ago renovated kitchen and purchased two single units (4th generation) and have then sitting each side of the kitchen sink bowls. Look great. Latest generation has been improved considerably. Live them. Too marks for F&P persevering with the patent over the years. Recommended.

Very happy with my machine
I chose this model as I live alone in a small unit with small kitchen. I decided to pay more for this one and I'm glad I did, as it's a reputable brand and suits me nicely. Very quiet, efficient, convenient and cleans superbly. Size is perfect for me or if I have a guest. It's been trouble free and performs brilliantly. As my first dishwasher, it taught me the advantages. When cooking I prefer to use more dishes during prep, but before, I'd avoid that, or re-use dishes with just a rinse to reduce washing up, so it's helpful and has improved hyg...Read more
iene too. It washes much hotter than I could by hand, so the dishes are more sterile. It saves space by providing a place for used dishes. The choice of wash programmes is ideal and it's the quietest I've seen, too. My mother has a double drawer model and that has also been superb and completely reliable for 4 years. Happily recommended, especially for small kitchens. Performance, water & energy efficiency, quietness, space efficient design. Great features. Some programmes are slow. Child lock engages with drawer open. A little expensive.

PS - as recommended by Choice mag, I've been using Coles dishwasher powder since the 3rd month I had the machine. It's the cheapest by miles, and for me it's far more effective than even the expensive... Read more
brands (Finish tabs or powder, etc). Just as Choice says, and I find it so. The one thing I've found nothing cleans 100% is tea stains in mugs, but this stuff comes closest, and on the long cycle it's getting it mostly off (I put the mugs on bottom rack, at the side, but it seems a tad better in the middle). Just a quick rub with a sponge or scourer takes off the rest if you're fussy. I get a little streaking on cutlery, but I notice it's less so if I use a little less powder, and always use the rinse aid (a bottle lasts me about a year). Anyway a quick wipe gets that off. I don't know why some people have so much trouble with theirs, mine is still working perfectly after 2 years and so's my mother's after 5. Maybe if you don't get good power supply where you are it causes problems, I've seen that with some appliances, and that sounds right for the ones reporting damaged circuit boards. I do know the power in my flats is actually pretty good. But I'm glad I haven't had to test F & P for service, from the sound of things.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

How long is a normal general cycle?

I don't know probably 1 he 20. I always use fast cycle for stuff that's been rinsed and it's about 40 minutes.
Rudi K.Fisher & Paykel
Normal cycle is approximately 128 minutes.
Wash times can vary depending on the incoming water temperature, ambient conditions, type of dish load and whether the drawer has been opened during the wash. Wash times are only APPROXIMATE on the electronic display and based on 20oC (New Zealand and Australia),

Having bought a house which has a De Longhi dishwasher (standard size) I take back all the criticism of the Dishdrawer. The Dishdrawers are so stable in the way they operate. Whereas this old thing, e... Read more
verything rattles when you pull it out and half the things fall over. The cutlery falls through the basket and gets caught on the bottom of the dishwasher so when you pull the rack out to load more stuff, half the time it gets caught on one side and everything crashes around. Nightmare! WHen I renovate I will be getting dishdrawers!!!
