Washing Machines Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of washing machine would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Quicksmart Washing Machine
You have got to be kidding Fisher & Paykel. Harvey Norman went out of their way to replace the first machine delivered because of the noise the machine emitted just before going into the spin cycle (which I recorded so that the salesman could hear, and who immediately agreed there was a problem).
The replacement machine is also not only noisy but on the Cotton wash, when it was at the 1.01 hr
mark it just continued to make a terrible noise. After recording this noise from different distances from the machine to emphasise the level of noise...Read more
I could hear at other parts of the house, the time showing on the machine was still 1.01 hrs after almost 5 minutes. I continued to record as I changed the cycle to different settings to see if the machine would perform differently and when I went to Spin Cycle which was automatically on 12 minutes: the machine stayed on 12 minutes continuously. I again stopped the machine and restarted on Rinse Cycle on cold with 1100 spin with rinse light flashing and light on spin, next minute water was coming out of the front of the machine through the detergent compartment. I switched off the machine and also disconnected the power because of the risk factor. Fisher & Paykel, if I do not receive a response from this review, I will be taking the matter to not only Consumer Affairs but also the media. Enough is enough.

Impressive washing machine
After only 5 yrs of operations with only 2 people in the house; our front load washing machine it started making strange bearing sounds. Repair person said it was shot. He stated that front load washers have bearing that go out sooner than most. Ask him what he has at home. Fisher & Paykel eco-smart. Says he's had it for about 5 yrs. So after researching all the major brands including Fisher & Paykel; I decided to buy one. After reading all the med to low reviews; I was a bit skeptical so I did buy an extended warranty from the store. Be...Read more
ginning to think that was a waste of money. It was installed and put 3 loads thru it the very 1st day. I'm amazed at how clean the clothes are plus how dry they are. It takes about 1/2 the time to dry them including towels. Yes they do come out a bit more wrinkled but shaking them out prior to putting them in the dryer works just fine. You have to pay attention to how you load the washer and check all the pockets - that's where you get unbalanced loads and problems with banging when in spin cycle. Also you don't want to "suck" anything into the pump which will cause you a service call because the exit flow will become blocked. You must make sure all the "stuff" is out of pockets and buttons on pants/jeans are buttoned and zippers closed per the manufacture instructions. Had to adjust to less soap. Left all the controls on auto except when I knew the load was lightly soiled then I shortened the wash cycle. You have to balance the load of dry clothes so I just press down after everything is loaded and move a few things so if all "feels" even. Have had the machine for 3 mo. and sure wish I had bought it years sooner to save more money. Yes it is a bit more expensive but it will out last any front loader on the market. I LOVE this machine - it is SO QUIET and the clothes come out SO clean & dry - it's amazing!!! Easy to understand control panel; energy efficient; QUIET running Has taken one button off of pants but didn't button it per Fisher & Paykel instructionsSimilar opinion? An outstanding washing machine.
I recently purchased a Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart washer after my Maytag Neptune died. The Fisher Paykel is an outstanding machine. No dispensers to get gross and crusty that you have to clean with toothpicks and q-tips. The clothes do not tie themselves into knots while being shoved around. The engineering is genius.
This morning I took off the cup for the fabric softener, put it in a sink of warm water while I showered, then rinsed it off and put it back in the machine. Also, I have never experienced such water extraction from clothes...Read more
in the spin cycle. The articles I move to the dryer are merely damp. Yes, the machine is expensive. I don't mind paying good money for a good machine - I just want my monies worth. I got with the Fisher & Paykel.1 comment

I would never buy another Fisher & Paykel anything.
Our 2 1/2 year old washing machine developed a burning smell on the spin cycle and shorted out the circut. I googled this and we were not on our own as suggestions were made to a faulty water pump. The "technician" confimred this and advised the smell was it overheating. Sevrice and replacement 193.00 thankyou very much as this was just out of warranty. This has been our second Fisher & Paykel washing machine and since being in our new home 1 1/2 years we have also had to replace F&P oven. Never again!!
It worked for just over 2 Years.
When I advised the technician I would never buy anoth F&P product, he replied. "they don'y make em like they use to. He had a busy day ahead of him and could not get out the door quick enough.

No. I would need to call a repairman myself.
My research here in the USA rates this company as too expensive for the product produced. I have tried calling customer service and never get through As soon as I can I'm buying a GE or Maytag. This company really is horrible. Zero stars
