Bought vehicle new. Long term Ford customer as family involved ln Ford.
Great highway cruiser and good tow vehicle. High fuel consumption in city around 11l/100km.
Poor ride for rear seat passengers as bouncy on country road making kids sick.

Build quality poor. Panel fit not great. Many Everest have had same issues as Rangers.
Have had rear engine oil seal leak (very common) and possibly recurring.
Multiple glow plug failure which has no dash warning. Recognised as a fault by Ford and common.
Failure to recognise leads to tip breaking and head cylinder damage as attested by the poor Ranger owner at Bayfords the same day mine was in for repair.

I have been encountering a ‘thump’ noise when the automatic transmission shifts from fifth to sixth gear (the 5-6 shift) on my MY18 Everest Trend.
This occurs at speeds of 75-80 km/h.

I asked my Ford dealer to investigate at the recent 3k service but they said they could not find a problem.

The ‘thump’ noise seems to always happen between 75 and 80km/hr in auto mode.
I have since found an article that mentions Ford Australia has an updated transmission calibration
(software upgrade) which fixes this problem.

A great car but just a heads up on anyone buying an Everest Ambiente, be aware it only comes with ONE remote access key (Flip key) with the second key it is a normal key so if you want to lift the tail gate to put something in the back with the second key when it is raining you have to put your key in the Drivers door to open any other door. I found out after I signed and paid for it. As I said it is a great car but for a $50,000 plus car (4x4 model) in this day & age it is penny pinching to have to open doors with a conventional key. I would say good 4wd/suv built by ford,sturdy body,spacious interior(not enough head room for tall peoples),engine noise is high compared with rival products,good ground clearance that enable you to take car anywhere without any concern of scraping underbody,park assist/self parking and panoramic moonroof are awesome,20” alloy wheels gives a sporty look.Much more features needs to be mentioned.

As a japanese car buyer historically I didn't expect much from a Ford but it was way better to drive than Prado and technology, infotainment, interior and overall look were way better so took a punt and bought instead of Prado. Overall fit and finish are slightly below Prado and it has a bit more plastic under it where Toyota use steel but I took a chance on this as well.

Hi. Our previous tow vehicles were Mitsubishi Pajero's x 3. The Pajero spare wheel made it awkward to fit the caravan connecting bits, the Grandchildren became to large for the seats in the back and our new caravan was over the tow bar weight limits for the hitch weights (Pajero, over 2500 kg the ball weight limit is 180 kg). However liked the Pajero very much.

Car is great, comfortable, goes well and the tech is great when it works. The problem we've found with such a high tech car is that if you're unlucky enough to get a software glitch the mechanics at the dealer are simply not equipped to handle it. We have had two problems with our Everest.

The first one was an "adblue malfunction" (this is not the same as getting low on adBlue). It claimed to be a malfunction in the adBlue system and informed the driver that the car itself would stop working within a certain number of kilometres (e.g 897km)....Read more

Purchased our Everest in November 2015 and have clocked up 60K KM. A lot of this has been towing our 2.7 tonne caravan. Had no issue and it fuel consumption, towing is 14/15 Ltrs per 100KM, well below my previous 4WD (Pajero) We live in a City and it is car like when driving around town. Steering is light and is way quieter in side than any other 4WD. Road holding is excellent for a large 4WD. Dashboard layout could be better with minor controls hard to reach.
