A square watch for a square guy
It looks fairly geeky for a sports watch but it has so many options and being able to change the watch face from the large collection it would the envy of anyone seeing it. I bought it for the vibrating alarm so I can wake up early without disturbing my partner's sleep, and for the steps tracker. But it has apps to control your music, tell you the sunrise/sunset times, keep tennis scores, and many others. It has value for the price.

Great product
Had my Vivoactive for 12 months and found it to be excellent. A few bugs in earlier firmware but very stable for sometime. Accurate steps, quick finding GPS and ability to customise watch face is nice. Battery life isn't the 3 weeks they claim but 2 weeks is possible (if no GPS used)

Good product but armband is of poor quality
I have been using the watch for over a year on a daily basis for running and cycling. The watch does a great job but the plastic armband broke due to wear and tear just after the 12 month warranty run out which was annoying. I expected an activity watch designed for every day use to last longer than that. Also a call to support didn't help which i got referred to order a new wristband for$30. Overall good product but the wristbands are a letdown due to poor quality.

Great to keep rough track of activities.
Helps keep rough record of my daily activities. Probably even makes me move a bit more than usual.
Sleep function has been helpful to see when I get my best sleep and the rest of my sleep pattern all recorded.
Easy to check all my activities straight on my iPhone.

Best Smartwatch I've had so far
I started of with a basic monochrome Pebble watch 2 years ago and after just on 12 months a button popped off leaving a spring sticking out (still worked but looked odd!) Time for an update! Next I got a Moto 360 watch which looked heaps nicer (colour screen etc..) but after sending it away to have a cracked back repaired (known issue) it promptly happened again a few months later.. So decided I'd give number 3 a try.
Got the Garmin Vivoactive for a good price as sort of superceded by Vivoactive HR (I didn't need the extra features) Styling ...Read more
wise it is somewhere between the Pebble and Moto 360. Screen isn't as attractive or vivid as the Moto 360, but still colour and functional. The Garmin is thinner and lighter than the Moto 360 so although quite plasticy less prone to bumps and knocks and so far (3 months) standing up well to wear and tear (despite 24 hours a day use) Garmin only needs charging about every 3 weeks which is a bonus. The Garmin also seems the best of the 3 for keeping connected to my LG G4 smartphone. The Garmin Connect Android App also works well. I have sleep issues so have found the sleep tracking very interesting. Probably the biggest negative for me is the dull screen which is much less vibrant and attractive than the Moto 360, but the better battery life makes it worth the tradeoff. Overall, very happy with it so far.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Garmin VivoActive Best Smartwatch Independently Tested.
During the last three years I tested the following Smartwatches: Sony, Nike, all models by Samsung, Garmin Forerunner and Vivoactive and some lesser known products. The outcome of the tests were similar. Most of the before named brands had difficulties with the power consumption. The exception was the Garmin Vivoactive needing to be recharged only after three to four weeks depending on the usage of various apps. This model allows to see the time and other facilities permanently.
There is another aspect: the design of most products in regards...Read more

Screen designed to crack!
The touchscreen glass is raised above the plastic surrounds, making it openly vulnerable to damage. I do not know any kind of watch or device where the edge of the glass face is not protected completely. Their other watches are protected, so why this one isn't indicates poor design.
The watch promises a lot of different functions which sounds fun but delivers poorly like indoor cycling that actually requires another purchase not usually sold in stores. The step counter is inaccurate and known to be compared to Garmin's Fitbit.
There is no screen protector or replacement service, so be ware!

expensive but fun toy
It's a fun toy but I don't think step count is accurate and I think it gives you about 10-15% more than you actually walked.
Garmin connect portal site has a link saying that the device is to motivate user to be active rather than used like a medical device so they may be doing this intentionally.
Swim lap counter gives little weird result as well most probably from same reason.

or the moment and I had opened a case with Garmin. The frustrating part is when opening a case with Garmin in Australia and they seem just reply back to call the toll free number when reporting an issue through their web site. I needed to be in the waiting queue for 10min to report the issue and to have another person to investigate the issue. It catches the GPS quicker than I thought but uses the battery when using GPS as the catalog says.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
