Excellent Value Inverter Generator !
Unit was purchased on eBay for a great price, and delivered free within a few days . After reading the manual, purchasing the specified oil, making up the earthing lead then adding the oil and unleaded petrol, the generator happily started after only about half the pulls listed in the manual. I then ran the unit for nearly 2 hours in economy mode to power a set of light globes just to test the generator and to gently run it in . I am extremely satisfied with the ease of starting the unit, its cost and look forward to using it for years to come on our camping trips . Many thanks for a fabulous deal .

Very useful, great quality
We bought it a couple of weeks ago. Took it camping in our caravan. It did a great job. All our gadgets worked really well : fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. It's a bit on a heavy side, but well worth for what it does. Very happy with the purchase.

Great Value Generator
After adding oil and priming the fuel it started on the second pull. It runs the air conditioner and microwave at the same time, what more could you ask for. Fantastic value. Add to this the cover and tool kit and it is the complete package. A BIG Thank you.

Very good. Already used and works great
This is an amazing product. Very compact and works great. We had to use it today as we had a blackout and it worked so well. It will also be great when we go camping to areas without power.
Its the best decision we have made to buy this. I recommend people to buy one of these
Very cheap and works great. :-)

Very quiet.
It's a very quiet and powerful unit. It's very easy to start. And, it's easy to move around. I put it on a fold up trolley when I have to move it some distance and I can move it anywhere I like. It's the best value around for the price.

My second one
My original Gentrax was the 2.5KW used for 5 years in some very harsh conditions running up to 24hrs every day for four weeks at least three times a year with simple preventive maintenance clean air filter regularly and drop oil every 10 days clean spark plug and spark arrester on exhaust it never failed. Just upgraded to 3.5 to run air con expect the same quality and performance.

Looks good so far
Just delivered two days ago so not able to rate performance at this stage but very happy with build quality and price. Will look forward to using it for free camping or when we have one of our frequent black outs. Communication from Outbax Camping was excellent. Would buy again.

Great value for Money
Purchased one of these on ebay 2 years ago as an emergency backup when camping at free stays. At the price I paid I could buy 4 of these for the price they want for one of the well known brands. Have never had a reason to use it for the purpose we bought it (on the Caravan ) but it has run for days at a time at home when we get blackouts.
Never missed a beat at home. Hooked up 2 large fridges, 2 large freezers, lights, television. No problem.
It just did a 16,000 km trip around Australia. Still didn't get to use it.
Great little machine.
Maybe one day I'll get to use it camping.

3kw to 3.5 kw inverter generator.. Excellent so far.
Ordered through E Bay. Excellent service and generator delivered to the front door.. A bit of correspondance with Out Bax Camping re item and all inquiries responded to very quickly. Item only arrived yesterday. and is in perfect condition. Researched the numerous inverter generators on line pretty extensively and selected the gentrax brand 3 to 3.5 Kw model in the recoil start. The electric start model was about 10 kg heavier. Have'nt put it through its paces under load yet. but Outbax Campings allround customer service and old fashioned, nothings too much trouble, salesmanship was exceptional. I'm impressed.

Gentrax 3.5kW Generator
The service was great. Prompt delivery to my address. The generator started first go after oil and fuel was added. I am now on the Ivanhoe to Menindee Road on my way to Birdsville and on to North Queensland. Using every day to keep fridge and heater going in my caravan. So far I am happy with the purchase.

The generator was fantastic and far better than expected. Also the price was amazing, well reduced. It was easy to setup and get going and it was very quiet. Tracking information was given on every step and it arrived very quickly. I recommend your eBay service and would certainly use it again.

Works great, very happy
This Generator works well, it's quiet, and a very powerful machine. I used it with a 2000w electric chainsaw and it did the job well. Very fuel efficient, I have only had it a week so looking forward to using it on a few more occasions, but for now im happy.

Great generator for the price! Does everything it supposed to do..
Purchased the Gentrax as I didn’t fancy spending over $3000 on other brands. I wasn’t disappointed, does everything the other ones do. And if I only get a couple of years out of it can still buy another one & not be even close to spending 1000’s.
Very happy with my purchase.

Don't buy it.
18 months old, throw away. The tech just told me to throw it... It's cheap crap... His words. 700 bucks craps against the wall. Look at other generators, this one has just cost our trip to Uluru after travelling 7000 km. Would never purchase any product from them again. Bite the bullet and buy a reputable brand.

Disappointed
I purchased one of these Generators and found it to be faulty, it is not branded eg Gentrax, just a plain outer case with no branding, I think it is sold under many brand names.
My unit kept cutting out when put under a light load, so required a return which is a frustrating exercise as they wanted proof of the problem before allowing me to return it. The fit and finish is poor, but expected for the price. (surprised at the positive reviews).
My advice save your money and buy a second hand Honda ( which I have done) and you will find you will have a quality product which Honda is famous for, not forgetting good parts and service follow up.

Best value for money!
Before the Gentrax starts for the very first time it really does take over thirty pulls to charge the carburettor with fuel. After that it starts first pull when cold on full choke. When hot, it will start with half or full choke setting. I am almost 80 years old and of average fitness, but can pull the starting cord effortlessly. When I use my anglegrinder and put the load on with the sanding disk, it feels as if the Gentrax is digging in its heels and the power is there at my grinder without hesitation, even on "Economy" setting. I have not h...Read more
ad it for long enough to comment on long term reliability, but it appears well designed. It's a bit heavier than some other brands, and I have to strain a bit to get it into the boot of my car, but I guess that it is because the Gentrax is of sturdier construction than others and will therefore last longer; well, that is purely my oppinion. Searching the Internet I found similarly rated generators up to double the price of this one including postage.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Manual says it needs high detergent SAW 10W30 which I cannot find anywhere, is it a mis-print for SAE 10W30? any recommended oils as I'm struggling to find anything I feel safe putting in it to fire up, also cannot work out how to put oil in!!!!
3 answers
That is what I thought so I used a good quality Sae30 engine oil which is used in most 4 stroke stationary engines I live in WA so 10w30 is probably not so important
Most mineral oils are of reasonably high detergent content, so any quality 10/30 oil will do the job. The purpose of the instruction is to warn you against using any non-detergent synthetic oils, which while of higher quality, don't have the ability to prevent sludge build-up
Dave do you work, or own outback or another firm that sells this rubbish. you keep stating the owner of the genet must pay the freight I have stated this is not correct many times, but still you persist.
outback covered all freight at my insistence, to, and return of replacement unit from cairns Queensland to Sydney after I pointed out aust warrenty law, if they were in the right they would not of payed shurly.
still mucked me around cream deluxe, with not doing anything correct with freight company but long story short,... I didn't pay a dime and neither should any one else after seller concedes/ concludes, matter can not be fixed online or over the phone and unit requires return to base. and there total lack of service support for customer to drop unit off for repair. in there local area.
I now have a Honda 2.2 and kick myself for wasting time with Briggs and straiten, and other Chinese rubbish.... all though the Honda is now made in Thailand, not japan. but after 2 months is still perfect in every way.
and for anyone interested,.. can run a 1500 watt air fryer and 3... 25 amp battery chargers
all at the same time, with out any flickering of the overload light. chargers putting out around 60 to 65 amps at 12 volts.
anyway Dave thanks for helping people here... I use to as well,.... just don't know why the insistence on, they must pay the freight.

Hello. I wrote about the generator having problems..well it will not start or go at all, really needs to be sent back .... how do I do this .....need help...
3 answers
Judy, if you still have the packaging that the generator arrived in, then repack it and address it to the retailer you bought it from. Sadly, as was indicated, you'll have to pay the postage, but once it's fixed, then it's posted back to you at no charge. Check a local courier and see if they are cheaper than Aust Post. Alternatively,if you have a friend with the necessary know-how, then perhaps he/she can fire sort the problem for you, or even drop it in to a local car mechanic, they'll have the knowledge to get it going.
Was going to buy one but not if all these posts say they are no good
you arte a very smart fellow john say away from this rubbish.
