Why I specifically like this cot:...
Read more HEIGHT It is wonderfully tall. I watched a promo video and was a bit concerned it would be higher than most cots but we would still have to bend down. There is lifting over the rail but not bending down. As per the specs it measures 850mm to the top of mattress. The height is quite literally life changing. It took one weekend at our in-laws using a regular cot to cement our purchase as the best decision we made. Also, the lower the cot base the greater the distance you have to lower your baby and in my opinion, the greater the risk of them waking on the way down ;-p I searched for at least a month and there is nothing like this cot on the market. I love how tall this cot is. STORAGE The drawer, whilst not the smoothest, is so large and useful. It is the icing on the cake. We live in an old Queenslander with virtually no built in storage so it is really beneficial. SIZE AND MANEUVERABILITY Speaking of old Queenslanders – this cot is one of the only ones I came across that could fit through smaller doorways. It is more compact than most but we will reasonably still get years out of it. I can potentially see us bypassing a bassinet next time around. Comes with lockable castors for ease of moving. TEETHING PROTECTION This cot comes with plastic rails pre-attached to the long sides. They are very streamlined and are barely noticeable. The majority of cots available secondhand all have teeth marks. I am really glad these are included in the design so we didn't have to find an alternative solution. It also means that should we come to pass on or sell the cot it will be in a good condition. DROP SIDE MECHANISM My research revealed that this is both a very convenient attribute but also a dangerous one (drop side cots are banned in the USA). The mechanism has been skillfully engineered to be like an inverted J – this ensures that once in the closed position no amount of downward pressure can open the cot. This is very reassuring. Due to the inbuilt catches in the mechanism you do need two hands to lower it and it feels a bit stiff but I don't see this as a problem. Experience: - Week delivery (to metropolitan Queensland). - Mattress is really nice and firm. - My partner put this together in an evening and I only had to hold a component twice. Note: - Buy direct from Grocare!!! I found a number of distributors online and they were charging $150 to $200 more. It was by chance that I was rechecking specs that I realised I could buy from them and it was much more affordable. Approx. $700 including cot, mattress, fitted sheet and delivery. I would much rather my dollars actually went to the creator. One annoyance is that GST is not included in their listed prices so be mindful of that. I was happy to buy second-hand and kept tabs on Facebook marketplace, Ebay and Gumtree and this cot only came up twice, both of which were interstate so we bought new. I'm actually really glad we did as there is definitely peace-of-mind, especially with a new mattress. - I am about 173cm tall and my partner is about 182cm tall. If I were much shorter I would possibly struggle with the height. The mattress recommendation on the back page of the instruction booklet had incorrect measurements and I was concerned we had bought the wrong mattress but a quick call to Grocare and it was confirmed this was a printing error. - This does not convert into a toddler bed. I would much rather save my back than purchase a lower cot just so it converts. Grocare sell a trundle transitional bed that fits under the cot for storage and expands when rolled out. I'll consider this option when the time comes but there are tons of toddler beds available second-hand. - Due to the custom size you will need specific sheets. These are available from Grocare. Other sites sell them as well.Purchased in for $708.

I purchased this cot for my second baby after having terrible back issues after birth of my first and it has been amazing. Instead of having to bend as you lower the baby into the cot, you can just stand with a straight back in correct lifting posture and place the baby in the cot, no bending required. I am only 5"1/ 155cm and have no issues operating it at all, so I think the previous reviewer who had issues may have had the v1 version where the dropside didn't go as low. The dropside is quiet, smooth and easy to use - much better than on our ...
Read moreBoori. The look and quality of the cot is lovely (we have it in white) and the storage drawer is great for storing baby linen and sleeping bags. I bought the sheet set from the grotime website to go with the non-standard mattress size (the flat sheet is sewn into the bottom of the fitted sheet but you can just tuck it under if you don't want to use it). However, I haven't been able to find the non-standard size matteress protector. I am just using one for a larger cot tucked underneath, but it would be great if grotime sold a bespoke one. Overall, I am extremely happy with this cot and credit it in large part for my back being in much better shape this time, thanks to avoiding the repeated bending. I'm so grateful this product exists! Wish I had known about it with my first. Highly recommend to any parents with a fragile back that you wish to protect. This Cot is great for small spaces. we have used it since bringing out Bub home. She is one now. Our only issue with the cot is that the door (the side that goes up and down) is so incredibly noisy it wakes our Bub and my sleeping partner up.
We've had several people take a look hoping to find a solution but one year on and it's still as noisy as it was on day one.

We recently bought the Grotime petite cot (4 in 1 Backsaver). This cot has two advantages over the standard cots. While standard cots are about 140 cm long, the Grotime 4 in 1 Backsaver is only 106 cm. This is quite a big plus, if your nursery, or like in our case the master bedroom, has limited space. The second big advantage, which gives the cot its name, is the position of the mattress. The position of the mattress of the Grotime Backsaver cot is significantly higher compared to other cots, which makes it easier to lift the baby out of the c...
Read moreot. This small detail can be a big plus for this cot, if you suffer from back issues. The built quality of the cot is very good. Everything fits neatly, and the final product is assembled in less than an hour. The drawer under the mattress is a very smart detail, providing significant storage space for sheets as well as other items. Again a big plus if you have limited space. We had a bit of an issue with the mattress, which needs to be bought separately. The type of mattress that we were interested in wasn't available at the time of purchase. After the shop failed to organise the mattress, we contacted Grotime directly, and received a very friendly, and timely customer support, which sorted out our problems. Overall we would recommend Grotime in general as well as the 4 in 1 Backsaver cot. Build quality, dimensions, friendly and timely customer serviceHello aa27

Questions & Answers
I just bought this cot and it’s soooo incredibly noisy to open/close. It wakes the baby. How do you make it not clunk so loud at the end of putting it up?
It’s horrible if I can’t find a solution to the noise on closing/opening I will have to dump it.
Hi Panella,
It is noisy to close - I think that is because of the parts of the locking mechanism that ensure it cannot drop down without doing the inverted J manoeuvre, that is, the bits that keep it ...
Hi
Is the mattress for a Grotime Backsaver still available for purchase?
Thanks
Hello. We have a grow time back saver 2 and I love the cot and used it from the start with our newborn. Given it has just the one level I am wondering if it is safe to use once out little man can stand up? I am concerned he might climb out and take a bit of a plunge?
Thank you!
We had never that problem because our son was not the explorer type. When he woke, he cried and we took him out of the cot. Even when he was standing in ours he never tried to get out himself. I guess it depends on the child.
Hello MJ, The base level on the backsaver 2 is positioned at an optium height to reduce strain on the carers back, also eliminating the need for two base heights. More importantly it passes the Austra...

Just FYI - I also loved this cot but I am 5'2" and it was actually dangerous for me to use - I had to get on tip toes to get baby in and out. We bought the Turin cot instead which is exactly the same ...
