HS always on ‘sale’
I’m wary of stores who always have sales like HS. But are they really sales? With HS I highly doubt it because they heavily inflate the prices then put a 50% off sign above it. Even with the discount, the price is much higher than it’s worth. Sometimes you can prove this by looking at the same brand in Big W. HS stock their own brands too like Westcape, so it’s harder to check, but this brand is still overpriced even when it’s on sale. I only buy from HS now if I am desperate.

Great collection
Multiple brands at one shop so it’s convenient to do shopping there and also saves time. Customer service is great. Mostly it’s my go to shop for brands at ryde.

It's a rip off
My husband bought me a Tramontina coffee plunger and he was pleased to be told it was marked down from $69.95 to a price of $39.95. I have had previous issues before at Harris Scarfe having items supposedly marked down so I checked the price on line and discovered that they were priced at $35 at Big W and was not on sale. It is dishonest and misleading to make you believe it is a bargain, it is just deceitful! I won't be buying from HS again unless I check out the correct retail price first.

Well used bathroom scales
Just bought a set of weightwatchers bathroom scales - they have clearly been used with the rubber footings actually worn at the bottom. Plus they don’t work - now I have to got back in and get a new set - not happy - surely they check returns before they put them back in circulation.

Thank you Andrew, Area Manager for the fantastic help you gave me at the Forest Hill store.
Today, (10th Jan) I rang Forest Hill Vic store to see if they had Baccarat saucepans... Yes they do, I was told. So made the special trip (11 kms each way) to buy 1 Baccarat saucepan and another item. I met two staff at the saucepan section and asked where these saucepans were..Haven't stocked them for FIVE years. The 2 people were Michelle..equally nice and helpful and Andrew. After my initial disapoinment, we decided Scan pans were fairly equal and apart from the 40% off he gave me a manager's discount. (Michelle told me he was the Area Mana...Read more
ger) After asking what kind of mattress protector I wanted, Andrew came with me to the bedding section and advised me what I should get...great quality...and again gave me a special deal. He didn't need to do this, but he did and he was just so-o helpful and cheerful. I loved the Harris Scarfe store at The Glen and was (and still am) so sad when it closed permanently, prior to the re-build. Over the years, I have got LOTS of great products at affordable prices at this shop. So thank you again Andrew for giving me a very positive shopping experience!!!Similar opinion? Never trust the price reductions!!
On Boxing Day I saw VS Sasson Mens grooming style kit reduced from $79.95 to $55. I asked my nephew to if he liked it and he checked online and said Myers were selling for $45. We took that to the counter and when we said that they price matched. However I found out from VS Sasson website RRP is $59.95. Harris Scarfe increased the price and drop it a bit. I also found out that Harveynorman sells it for $44. Never ever i shall trust their price reductions and sales.

Bad customer service
The cashier ‘[name removed]’ said these 2 words to me “that’s $186.95”. No hello, no thank you, no goodbye. Probably because she was too busy talking to her co worker about taking boxes home. Very disappointing.

Bought a set of bluestone pans for $79.95
Product is ok, but it was advertised as being $79.95 reduced from $499. I believe that’s a lie. Where would you pay $499 and when did they have them for $499?

They inflate prices to offer discounts
Prices are faked and nobody would buy anything for those prices ....they sell them whilst telling you they are giving you 50% off their inflated prices.

New Bronson Polos terrible
The new big men’s range of Bronson Polo shirts Is terrible. Harris Scarfe changed them from Cotton polyester to plain cotton last season. These have always been a fantastic shirt up until recently. They now shrink in the length and stretch in the width making them look awful after one wash. Please change them back.

Disappointed
Bought a set of Salter dual pour kitchen scales reduced from 79.95 to 34.95 only to discover the same product is offered full price at the Good Guys for 29.95. I will never trust pricing at Harris Scarf again.

Hassle free exchange-without receipt
I nervously went to exchange sheets at Tarneit store, knowing I had no receipt. No problem! The operator was so friendly and polite. I knew the purchase date from a bank statement, and she found it on their system immediately. She even offered a refund. Lovely experience.

Advertised products not available I.
We went to the the Marion store today to buy a kettle advertised on their website. We could not find it and we made enquiries about the product and then told us that we must have been mistaken. I took out my phone and showed the advertised product and its price. The woman just told us that they did not have the prod for ages and we possibly could get it online and pay freight. We walked out as the lady was not interested to help at all. It will be a very long time until we visit the store again as we hate trap advertisements.

Rubbish return policy
I accidentally purchased the wrong pillows, I was supposed to buy classic dunlop pillows but instead grabbed the high profile one, I purchased two at $79 each. I used them that night with a pillow case and was very uncomfortable as they are for larger people, my wife also complained. We took them out of the pillow cases and back into the plastic covers. When I tried to take them back a few days later I was refused to exchange. I can understand why but as a male I don’t buy bedding very often and was surprised at the lack of communication around...Read more
their return policy regarding pillows. I feel their policy could be communicated in the pillow area but it isn’t, perhaps tell customers at the counter, but I wasnt. When I complained to the store manager [name removed] at the Southland store he was rude and pointed to their return policy which says I have 28 days to return items, I’ll leave a photo if I can. I would like to help Harris Scarfe to improve this experience but I have to e mail them and I’m off overseas today. Anyway for all those pillow buyers, put a pillow case over the plastic bag and try it for one night first. I just wasted 160 bucks at Harris Scarfe but at least I can donate the pillows to a good charity I suppose.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

10 customers in the queue with 1 staff on register who was rude
Waiting in a queue of about ten customer with ONE checkout person. Took her 5 minutes to make an announcement asking for help. When a customer in the queue said “I was just going to ask you to call for help” the service woman looked disgusted with no response. Unacceptable unprofessional and unnecessary. On the receipt it said [name removed] 2082 at forest hill Victoria. I expect a response to this.

Just to follow up, I did return the item to Harris Scarfe and found another brand for a fraction of the reduced price in another store.
