You need eARC to work properly
This soundbar gets bad reviews but that is because people don't set up their TV properly to use it. When connecting this to a TV you must use a version 2.1 HDMI cord. The one that comes in the box is not version 2.1. You need this because the sound bar only works properly with eARC and for whatever reason if you try and use any other HDMI cord the sound is very low, there's hardly any bass and it seems to have a stutter in the audio. Connect the sound bar to your TV's HDMI eARC port. If your TV has eARC it will be labelled on the port. You then...
Read more need to find the setting for eARC in you TV's settings and manually turn it on. It won't be switched on by default. Once this is done, the sound is loud and crisp and the bass booms. Setting up this sound bar by normal ARC, an optical cable or a HDMI cord lower than version 2.1 doesn't work. The sound is very very low and the bass almost non existent. Do not buy this if your TV doesn't have eARC.

Could be better
This system took me almost an hour to set up and configure, even when just connected to a Hisense A7G TV, and still facing some sound/connection issues.
First set of soundbar+subwoofer had issues pairing with one another and the TV (inside cabinet) was louder than the soundbar. Second set faired better with subwoofer eventually pairing but the sound volume from the soundbar is only slightly better than the TV on its own. When you first turn the TV on, there is no sound for the first few seconds, as the ARC connection to soundbar disconnects fr...
Read moreom the TV before it automatically reconnects. Also, for some reason, the subwoofer is designed to emit sound from the back with vibrations coming from underneath so the bass is not really noticeable unless you either turn the subwoofer around and/or turn the sound volume up. Make sure that you select the the "PCM" sound setting, else you'll get either no sound or sound will only come out from the centre speaker of the soundbar.Purchased in .

Could not get it to work properly so returned it and got a JBL which is great!
We tried every combination of HDMI connections, different HDMI cables, playing music over Bluetooth, and even playing MP3 from a USB stick. It simply would not keep the Subwoofer on. The sub would cut in and out randomly, and was distracting and muffled. We tried all the bass settings etc. Ended up taking it back and spending a little more for a JBL Sound Bar which is fab. The Good Guys were great about it.

Good sound quality for the price
Got this one yesterday on sale from GoodGuys with a promocode. Unboxing was easy but for the person who is connecting the soundbar for the first time in life, it is missing some good instructions. Now I know that it is just HDMI into the eARC port but I had to google all that. HiSense could make the instructions more clearly. The other issue I'm experiencing atm is that when you switch off the TV and the Soundbar and then switch on the next day it doesn't get picked by my Samsung TV and I need to go to TV settings and turn OFF and ON the ARC feature. Not sure if it's a bug in the TV or SoundBar. Sometimes the soundbar takes a bit of time to initialise when you power it for the first time. Any I'm quite happy with it for the price paid.

Questions & Answers
Hi Just got a new HS312 sound bar with a 65U8HAU TV - using the eARC ports on both and have a ultra high speed HDMI cable, the TV speakers sound great at volume 15 but the soundbar needs to be on about 75 to be as loud.. and is unfortunately a bit delayed (with sound delay set to 0 on the tv) and sounds are "different" is this normal??
Nearly tempted to get my money back on the sound bar.
I purchased the hs312 a couple of weeks ago andi have it connected via hdmi arc and when I turn the TV on it takes about 30 seconds for the sound to come from the sound bar is this normal
I connected the HDMI cable to the ARC connections on both the HS312 Soundbar and my Hisense 65Q8 TV. Nothing is happening. No sound from the Bar at all.
What have I done wrong?
hi, on tv go to settings, system, hdmi CEC, you may have to pair there. on soundbar set to arc mode
also on tv go to settings, sound, speakers, audio output, ARC
hope this helps
