I have over 3k in hitachi/hikoki power tools and this was a great impact driver for the first 10 months or so then the front bearing and hammer collapsed. Hikoki refused warranty and gave no reason for refusal. Also done this to me with the circular saw whose brushed motor caught fire and a rotary hammer drill which the sds bit keeps falling out of
Purchased in December 2022 at Toolshed for $329.

It's a Great Tool
I purchased this impact driver as part of a Hitachi kit and its performance has proved impressive for such a compact unit. It's comfortable to use. It has a range of settings including 3 speed settings, though I mainly only use fast or slow. It has a triple hammer function which makes driving screws fast (much faster than my old driver, which had served me well). I use a 6ah battery which does not weigh the tool down and provides hours of output (note that Hitachi batteries don't have charge indicators). Some much improved industrial design on ...
Read morethis unit which can be seen on other Hitachi tools too - I reckon that makes a difference with the choice of tools you buy. This tool is definitely trade worthy especially combined with that fast charger of theirs - that charger is fast. There's good input coming from owners KKR. I have had no issues with this tool so cannot comment on Hitachi's warranty service here and warranty is something you need to weigh-up in the equation.

Cannot fault it.
Lots of torque. With the 6AH batteries you would struggle to flatten 1 battery per day. Comes with a fast charger, approximately 30 to 40 mins to full charge at the most, if not less. Comfortable to use. Good compact design. Those Japanese sure know how to make good tools.
