Almost indestructible

published

After 10 years of hard work it finally stopped working. I spent half hour removing the gunk, epoxy resin and paint just to get to the screws but after that it was easy. A quick clean with the airgun to remove the fiberglass and saw dust and a squirt of Inox lubricant and my driver should be good for at least 10 more years.

Purchased in June 2021.

Bosch GDR 18V-EC BB

Expensive but worth every dollar, more power than you need with great battery life. So well made you can throw it on the concrete & not damage it, the three speed settings are indispensable & provide great control. The grip is unbelievably comfortable. Built for professionals & will probably last forever, they are however slightly heavier than say makita but for me this is no issue.

New version even better

Have the latest brushless version of this excellent driver . 3 torque settings and even smaller . Run time is better, not that the original was bad .The torque setting is the reason I bought the new one, and it makes it more versatile for the difference in price . Worth every cent .

Used other brands [ hitachi ] the Bosch runs a very long time on one battery even screwing roofs down and installing purlin/ batten screws, good all round for weight and balance and have dropped it of ladders a couple of times with out any damage. Small enough to handle small screwing jobs and getting into tight spaces.
excellent battery run time, light weight

Top pro unit.

This is the first impact driver I have owned, wish I had bought one earlier, driving long heavy screws into thick timber or steel roofing screws thru corrugated iron an absolute breeze, no longer have to drill first then drive. Huge amount of torque, compact in size, rugged construction and the batteries x2 only take 10-15 mins to fully charge, buy a 3/8" keyless chuck (reduces to 1/4" driver) so you can use your old existing drill bits ect, (the Hitachi chuck is the better one) and you have a powerfull Driver and a powerfull Drill as well.
Heavy duty, tough with fast charging battery system.

Hello! Great review! I have this tool and I completely agree with you. I always trust tools of this brand! But I have a question about Bosch laser measurer, I'm going to buy this model http://hardware.nl/bosch/0601072300.html and it is very important for me this model to have ability of calculating the square footage of the room. Does it have this opportunity?

I also don't know this particular laser measurer but would assume that the calculation of the 2 distances would give you some idea. For simple dimensions this would be easy but for rooms of different shapes it will be a lot harder. Best of luck!

I'm going to get one of these but not sure if I should get the kit with the 1.3 Ah batteru and the 1820 charger or spend the extra to get the 3 Ah battery with the more powerful 1860 charger. Which one did you get and how is battery life?

Having 2 x 1.3 Ah batteries it has never been a real problem even on building a very large deck, use one charge one, depends if you will use it for hours on end every other day, or just handyman use. I considered the larger battery but found my setup with the 2 fine for general handyman use, otherwise go for the bigger one. I use the standard charger, fine most of the time but on the big deck a little slow at times. Hope this helps.
