Run for 12 months flawlessly
Had the 4 station Pope model and took it back after 1 week. One station just kept flowing everytime it turned on. Spent more on the four outlet Holman and honestly they are light years apart. 12 months later and it still has full battery. No issues. Fingers crossed it continues.

Latest units unreliable
Had a unit for 12 months and was really happy until every time I tried a manual water the unit would lose the time and day. Continued doing this after battery change.
Fortunately the unit had a 2 year warranty and I returned it to Bunnings. I have have since exchanged 3 units over the last month all with the same issue of being very unreliable. After ringing Holman Tech support, I was advised that I must have a pressure issue.
This seems very unlikely as it is usually 1 out of the 2 zones that doesnt work . And this is random.
It appears there have been many people with the same issues. I just hope Holman do take note and fix this common problem .

Don't waste your money, should have read reviews .
Purchased at Bunnings 13/11/2019 for $105 . Seemed perfect for my needs .
Connected, tested, all good, set 2 zones 2 x 10 min. watering twice a day every 3rd day .
Headed off for work away for 2 weeks .
Arrived home to a dry unwatered garden with dried out & dead pot plants and garden.
Checked operation, switched to manual & yep it operated but the valve didn't open .
NO Watering at all .!!
Bunnings refunded money .
Why sell a known faulty product I asked ?

Fails to Operate
I bought this a couple of months ago thinking that it would be just what I needed as we regularly spend time away from home. What a dreadful mistake. I should have read all the reviews. It seems to operate OK when sitting on my kitchen table (ie the valves open and close as programed) but doesn't operate when attached to the garden tap. On manual control it only works about 25% of the time. My fruit trees are too precious to leave them to be watered by this device.

Absolute Rubbish
Bought this last weekend. After the initial testing, we set it up to turn on at 9pm at night. Zone 1 didn't turn on. Zone 2 and 3 did. The Water symbol appeared but the valve did not open. To make it work we had to unscrew the whole thing off the tap and then re-attach and then water zone 1 manually.
After 2 days of this, we return it to Bunnings to replace it, only to be told by a Bunnings staff member that they are a bit hit and miss.... for $170 they need to be hit not miss.
Second one.... worked great for 2 days. Zone 4 we kept free so we...Read more

Unreliable, seldom worked.
We have one of these timers and have had it for two years and it works faultlessly.
Needing a second timer, I bought another one exactly the same.
The second timer is useless. Doesnt come on when programmed. And having used the same timer previously, I know how to operate it!
Cost me my lemon tree, as it died while we were away over winter.
Bunnings were superb, offering first a change over, and it was faulty too, then my money back.
Purchase this timer at your peril.

Not rubbish....but close
I had a Pope 3 way timer for ten years but the programming button wore out so I went shopping at Bunnings. I found the Holman 4 way and decided the extra outlet could be useful so I bought one. To be fair I've been using it for 18 months without a problem until the feeder pipe started leaking inside the unit and now sprays water all over the electrical equipment inside. As a result its heading for the bin. I've just been to Bunnings to buy a 3 way Pope. So I'm not going to tell you how to spend your money but I had a $99 Pope timer for 10 YEARS and a $169 Holman for 18 MONTHS. If you do the maths.......... Good luck with whatever you choose to buy.

Frustratingly annoying
We live 350km away from store... took it home... programmed it and only 1 water station worked properly. First station would sometimes allow manual override and other times it would not open the valve. Station 2 worked how the product should have but then station 3 and 4 did not open the valve at all. I am worried about getting a replacement and having to drive 700km round trip to be disappointed again.

Extremely disappointing
I am now on my fifth dual timer. Thanks to Bunnings, I have been able to change them. They run for a few weeks then stop working. Even the manual control stops so I can’t water at all. The latest one worked for three days then failed to turn on the water. I would hear a click and the screen would show water flowing but none was. Sometimes, zone one would work. Then nothing for a few days, then Zone two would come on. For some reason I could not use the manual switch in the morning. It would show water flowing on the screen but none was. Strange...Read more
ly, If I tried once again to switch on the manual operation in the late afternoon it would work. I have done everything that is suggested in the instructions. I am really really disappointed because when it worked it was great. The system is easy to program with an easy to read screen. However, feel I have persisted long enough so once more I will drive over one hundred and sixty kms to Launceston to my nearest Bunnings store to change it. But this time I will not be getting a Holman dual electronic timer. Never again.Purchased in February 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse.

se, when I was looking for a dual outlet one I chose the Holman Water Whiz. This one, bought in 2018, has also been working for a year without a problem. So at the beginning of 2022, expanding my water system I bought another Waterwhiz, but this one must be a different model because it’s setup is slightly different and it’s function is giving me no end of trouble. It worked well for a couple of weeks and then, without any changes on my part, it started to turn-on erratically showing on the display screen that water was running but none was. Finally it did not even allow me to even turn it on manually. And so I’ve changed it four times as explained above. I believe this must be a faulty batch, as the other two battery operated timers I bought in 2018 and 2017 are wonderful. Perhaps it’s a fault with the solenoids.Holman I.Holman

Flawless so far
Has worked flawlessly for the last 18 months and will hopefully continue to do so for a while to come. I very rarely review anything but the one star this thing is averaging is not justified in my opinion. Fingers crossed I haven't cursed it by writing this review.

Unreliable & Expensive
As professional landscapers we know that irrigation systems can sometimes be troublesome, but with the right gear any teething problems are quickly solved and you'll end up with a trouble free system.
I've had this particular unit operating without any issues for the last 18 months so they're not all bad but unfortunately the Holman tap timers have proven to be unreliable, having seemingly a mind of their own as to if, or when, or through what outlet they will do their intended job, regardless whether it has 1, 2 or 4 outlets.
Despite dotting...Read more

Lasted 12 months
Disappointed to read these reviews as mine has now done the same.
The system has been resetting its time, so unless i check it the system wont come on when required. Middle of summer? Not ideal. Then when i use manual on, put a time in, it starts, i can not use manual off i just have to wait it out... but not the time i input, whatever time it feels like. Sometimes a half hour, sometimes ten minutes. I have tried new batteries even though it made no indication of being low. Still no joy. Sometimes no water comes through (at least once a week)... has anything been changed since the below reviews? Very unsure if i should replace it with the same if i will just get the same model.

No Water Flowing Through When Programmed & LED Display Script Lights Up & Timer Resets
Firstly, when these units work, they work brilliantly. But..there is a BUT though. Initially thought it was something I was doing as when I first installed the 400, it intermittently did not allow water to pass through the Water Whiz 400 it when programmed but it has now become more regular. The display shows the tap with water flowing symbol in the top of the screen, the timer clicks to open but no water flows through the designated outlet or any of the other 3 outlets. I also noticed that all the LED screen script light up & the time of day r...Read more
esets itself. I also have a Water Whiz 200 that has started to have the same problems in the past month. I will be looking at taking both units back to Bunnings for a replacement of both units. If they fail after replacement I will be getting a refund. These units are not cheap items with the 400 at $149 & the $200 at $99 so should last years at least but look only to have lasted 10 months. I have both units in weatherproof enclosures to protect them from the weather so weather damage is not an issue. I will be looking at other units if these fail again. December 23rd 2022 Update: Holman pls explain why solenoids continue to stick shut I have a Water Whiz 200 & 400. Let me say, these units work brilliantly..... when they work. I have just replace the failed 400 unit b/c the solenoids on outlets 2 & 4 would not open even though the solenoid made a click sound. This is an inherent problem with these units as indicated from the reviews. What is Holman doing to rectify this issue as I will be returning my units if they fail again & get a different suppliers unit or a refund. December 24th 2022 Update: Warranty replacement unit failed after 10 hours being reinstalled UPDATE: Installed the new warranty replacement Water Whiz 400. Tested it with no problem, all solenoids worked manually. Programmed it & waited for the scheduled watering to occur. NOTHING .... and the unit is only 10 hours installed. Checked the unit operation & NONE of the solenoids would operate even though they clicked signalling they were trying to open & the water flowing symbol was displayed on the screen. Reset the unit but still none of the solenoids would open. Checked the delay setting but it was 0. Reduced the pressure on the intake but still no operation. Holman, what is the issue with these units? Why are the solenoids not operating reliably? This is the fundamental system for operation. There is no way you can set & leave secure in the knowledge that they will operate as required. This replacement unit will be going back for a refund & I will be looking at other options.Purchased in February 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for A$150.00.

Continually fails
Unreliable, turns itself off, comes back on with the wrong time. Great if you want your garden randomly watered. It's priced as a fairly premium product but right from the word go was not keeping time correctly and after only 6 months has completely failed. Cheap product in nice packaging.

Nice interface and flexibility. Would be perfect if it allowed water to pass through itself.
Loved the user interface and flexibility of programming. Four watering zones each with 4 individual programmable runtimes including frequency (select which days to water or the option to choose every second or third day) gives heaps of flexibility.
Unfortunately after a week it simply stopped working reliably. Had it replaced and that unit failed within a couple of days.

My Water Whiz 400 keeps resetting the time by itself. I have it on Auto, when I come back to it is on 'set time' and the time has changed.
How can I stop it doing this please?
2 answers
Hi Nick, I have never experienced this issue myself. Have you tried to reset the Water Whiz and try setting the time again. To reset it, press and hold the OK button till the time is reset to 7.00am. The unit will be in default settings now. Also make sure that your batteries have a good charge and are not close to being dead.
Dear Dr DG
Thank you for your prompt response
I renewed batteries (they seemed OK) and reset as you suggested. Clock seems to work now - and switches on at the right times etc.
It runs the first channel, then gets stuck on the second - won't send any water now even on manual to channels 2,3 or 4. Channel 1 works fine.
Any ideas? Maybe a malfunction?

How do i stop water flowing out from under screw on part on top of timer
1 answer
How are you Hugh,
How much water is flowing/leaking out and does it leak continuously? Let me know please. I have never had this problem with all 3 of my Water Whiz 200 timers. Have you checked to see if the screw connection is tight. You may need to used white Teflon tape to help stop the water leaking out. Hope this helps.
kane g.asked
Do you have to reduce the water pressure going into the 400 because it’s just popping the droppers off at full pressure
1 answer
No I don’t adjust the water pressure. The water timer just connects directly into the tap with no issues at all.
