Nice little bike
I have had this bike for 4 months now as my very first ever bike - bought new. I have only 500 km on it but it suits me as a little commuter bike. It is almost a statement for me to sit on the roads near other riders with their sports bikes and their black leathers - me with my fluoro vest and L plates. Anway - a reliable, light weight, easy to learn bike. Fragile though. I dropped it once and snapped the clutch lever - learned my lesson the hard way.

Few months in review
Well I've had the cb125e for a few months now and have clocked about 700k's. This is a really good bike though it does lack power. It's only 125cc so I'm sure you all knew that. This bike goes really well in inner city and suburbia up to 60km an hour. It also survives well in the 60 - 80 km per hour speed range. I recommend it for commuting and some quiet riding. Though under no circumstances should you ever take this on a highway. It will not keep up with traffic and will be tossed about by the wind from other vehicles. If you take this on a freeway you should not have a motorbike licence. I do recommend this bike for inner city and suburban streets and roads. Though under no circumstances for the freeway.

Really Nice Bike Except For Top Speed
This Bike is definitely nice to ride. It drives like a quality bike and the suspension is fantastic. The motor is super reliable, and is loud enough to be heard, yet quite enough not to deaf your ears. I really like this bike and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a urban runaround or learning. I bought my bike with 5900 km on the clock so it is still new. Servicing these bikes are so easy and can can save you $$. I was surprised by the size of the bike given the 125cc motor. Takes off quick of the mark however is sluggish past 80...Read more
kph. Can reach 100 kph on flat roads with no wind though. The CB125e is really comfortable and can carry a pillion easily. The fuel economy is astounding with 350km from 12L. A great bike overall and safe as well. Well worth buying.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fabulous commuter motorbike!!!
I've had my cb125e for a few months now and have clocked up around 500k's. I love it! And I think you will too, as long as you're buying it for the right purpose it's intended for.
After having owned a number of scooters, including a 250cc Taiwanese branded scooter that was my sole form of transport for a few years, and a couple of motorbikes, what I think the 125e is best suited for is city/urban/suburban riding in zones up to 80k's an hour, which echoes what some of the other reviewers have also written.
Can you use it on a freeway or ...Read more
highway?? Yeah I suppose, but that would be like playing golf with a plank of wood.... You'd eventually finish your game but it's not going to be as fun or efficient or quick as using a golf club. So using it within its designed parameters it is nimble (which is actually quite fun!), extremely fuel efficient with a generous size fuel tank (I'm looking at you, scooters!), and it gets you from A to B just fine. Added to that is that the purchase price is spot on and when compared to the cheapest new 125cc scooter in the Aussie market it comes in, at least in victoria, as the same price or 50 bucks cheaper, and for that you're gonna get a form of transport that is better quality build without the cheap plastic and components that comes with said scooter, and with more kW. Don't get wrong, I love scooters but for my needs this was the better buy at the time. One thing that was really helpful for me in considering buying this bike and for using it to this day, and I'm sure will be when I first service the bike, was this dude's website: www.honda-cb125.com . It is SO helpful. Also from one of the reviews here I bought a cheap top box for storage from a mob called [Link removed] . It's terrific. What else? A tacho would be nice but it's certainly not necessary at all. The gear light indicator is handy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Wife's learner bike
We bought this little motorcycle for my wife who'd never ridden before and as she is only a featherweight herself we bought a bike to match! Bought it brand new from local Honda dealer with 12 months warranty (for the price why wouldn't you buy new) instead of going for a thrashed secondhand vtr250 which was initially my first choice. Turns out this is a perfect learners unit! Not overly powered like everyone else States here but enough power for where you need it. Recently had its first 1000km service from Honda dealer with no mechanically iss...Read more
ues to report. Will do following services myself. It does indeed get 400km to a full tank but we run 95 octane fuel in ours. Top speed was around 95km/hr but as the exhaust is uber quiet (traffic driving beside you barely hear you) we installed an aftermarket IXIL exhaust purchased from eBay. This resulted in a much more pleasant note coming from the exhaust and the bike will now reach 100km/hr! She alternates riding her bike to work and driving her car. A round trip to work is just over 100km with a mix of urban and highway driving with a small 100km/hr section (which she sits in learner legal top speed of 90) Apart from being buffeted a bit by the wind she says it keeps up with the traffic no problems and on steeper grade hills on the highway she just wacks it back into fourth and it climbs over no problems. Apart from the exhaust and installing an R-Jays top box we'll be leaving everything standard (maybe different brand tyre if we keep it long enough). All in all perfect for learner or just a cheap daily commute! CheersSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Perfect for a learner
This motorbike is perfect for a learner, got mine last month and I love it, easy to ride and I even do the service myself it's that easy, just change the oil and clean the chain and my next task is to remove the rack as it looks a bit ugly, I recommend this bike for anyone who is looking to start riding.

Its Hondalicious
I've had the little honka for nearly a year and so far have put 26'000kms on it. Stock everything. The only thing that I have had to replace is the clutch cable and the headlight bulb. I've checked the valve lash 3 times and its never needed any adjustment. Top speed is 110kmh flat out full tuck but I usually cruise at 90-95kmh. I live in Brisbane and have made many many trips interstate to Nimbin though the mountains. The little blue wonder has never let me down. As I write this the chain is knackered and needs replacing. light trail riding and its not a dirt bike but it chugs along nicely off road. This bike is very popular in Africa and goes under the guise of a GLH125 or something. I've looked at increasing the capacity of the little engine but without spending big dollars at a machine shop (porting, boring etc) its not really viable. Overall I would recommend this to anyone wanting a cheap commuter or as a first bike.2 comments

26000 Km's and going well
I bought this bike new for $2000, two years ago. I had it serviced by honda the first two times, but they wanted $200 every 1000km's, to change 800ml of oil, and then they put shell brand plain old mineral oil in it!! So since then i have stuck to the service manual, used synthetic oil, and done the next 24 services myself in under 10 minutes each. Definitely worth it.
In terms of parts, the stock chain is terrible, and i replaced it after 13000km;s with a nice o-ring chain. The headlight was terrible, and both the honda and aftermarket ones k...Read more

my introduction to riding
I have had my cb125e for about 1 month now, got it on ebay for $1600 with just over 4000km on the clock, without rego but with a pink slip, so was not hard to get registered. It was a good decision to buy this bike to learn on. In ones mind, one always wants something more flashier, bigger or faster however i realize it was a good decision to get the cb125e because my skill level is very low. At the moment i have been out on Sunday mornings before any traffic is on the road to practice. I have been making plenty of mistakes but getting better a...Read more
nd now enjoying riding more. I still have not ventured too far from home but going a bit further with each ride. I have only 100kms of riding experience at the moment. The cb125e is easy to service yourself if you are a bit handy. I have changed the spark plug, changed the oil, cleaned and lubed the chain. My next job to do is to adjust the chain to take a bit of the slack out of it, its meant to have between 20 and 30mm movement. I am not sure if my bike has had much servicing done before as there is no stamps in the service book. I don't see it as a real big issue as the bike has low km's and there is really not a lot to do to service it, it runs great. This is my first bike and my only other experience was doing the learners course to get ones "L" license. I used the same type of bike, cb125e provided at the learner training centre at Clyde in Sydney's west. With only 100kms of experience, the only tip i can give is, don't be too soft on the gear changer, not too sure if my advice is good but works for me. The bikes are robust. I purchased a tyre pressure gauge to check the pressure in the tyres and you can pump the tyres up with a good bicycle pump to save doing it at the petrol station. Tyre pressure is important for motorcycles! A tank of petrol lasts a long time, so because i am learning slowly, i have not needed to buy petrol yet. I am a big fan of this bike and plan to keep it for some time and get my proper licence when i have gained enough experience. The other good thing about the cb125e is they are not expensive so when you sell you can usually get your money back or close to it. There is always someone out there looking to purchase as there is a strong demand for them from new learners.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
8000kms in 4 months
Yes 8000 kms in 4 months, I havent got a car so the bike is my workhorse, ridden in rain, hail, sleet, not yet snow, found the bike is alittle under powered and sits only around 80-85km/h, talked to lads at Rangiora Honda, they are sourcing a bigger drive sprocket to reduce the engine rpm and increase top end speed, I live in a country town fantastic for riding around, it is just the intercity commute when I have to travel on main 100km/h roads, that I find I am always looking in my mirror to see what is coming up behind me.

Not bad at all!
So rather than spending an extra $800 to get my cruiser serviced, I decided sell it and look for a motorbike that would be used solely for commuting 40km/day on 60-80kph along the Great Western Hwy and suburbia. For $1500 I got a 2013 model with only 5000km on it and 6 months rego - bargain! Nothing to spend for at least 6 months, and if I decide to sell this a year from now, I can still sell this for more than what I paid for. I use 95 RON on this and it gets me 400km/$16 full tank.

long as it's well taken care of, I can't see it falling below $1400-1800 for years and thousands of kms of use - great resale value! The Honda reputation for reliability, coupled with the excellent value for learners and daily commuters - it's a great deal that's hard to beat! I'm actually looking forward to testing this on a long 2000km tour over a few days down South, I'm very confident it will carry my 175cm/110kg frame plus my gear quite comfortably. It hits 85kph quite easily, fastest I've been able to get this is 98kph downhill. I'm looking forward to taking some easy country road trips with this - check out horizonsunlimited for inspiring 125cc roads trips! I do miss the loud of exhaust of a cruiser, the first time I rode this I thought I stalled it at the lights and wasn't sure the bike was still on? It was. Just really incredibly quiet on 1st gear. The clutch is quite light, and I've done a few accidental wheelies on this too. These can still beat most cars off the lights! So as long as you can leave your ego aside, and don't plan to go over 100kph, you won't look like someone that's trying to prove or compensate for something with a loud annoying exhaust on a bike with tacky colours and stickers, get this bike and you won't regret it! Just as the ad says - "You meet the nicest people on a Honda."2 comments

Great little commuter
I have owner my cb125e for 18 months and in that time put 4000 kms on it. It has proven to be a fun little motorcycle. I am 6 foot tall and 84kgs and the performance is ok. The bike accelerates to 60 kph quickly but then slows down with acceleration to 80 kph being more gradual. Top speed with no wind is about 90 kph but it struggles to get to that speed with a slight head wind. The bike has been 100% reliable with no breakdowns at all. Fuel economy has improved and today I put 6.97 litres of 91 octane unleaded in for 262kms. I absolutely love ...Read more
this motorcycle but brake performance could be improved slightly. The addition of a tacho would have been nice. Love the LED instrument lighting. Vague gear changes between 3rd and 4th when new but has now improved. Horn loud. Exhaust quiet. A little better top speed with 95 or 98 octane fuel. If you're riding freeway or in 100 kph zones, get a 250cc motorcycle. Purchase price, reliability, running cost and weight of the motorcycle. A couple more horsepower, hard seat, no tacho and reliance on choke for a while when cold.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

First timer - perfect choice
I am in my 30's and new to riding thanks to some ridiculous city car-parking charges. I wanted a bike that would teach me the basics, be easy to use and wouldn't cause me to curl up in the foetal position crying as a result of accidentally damaging/dropping it.
I found a poor little CB125e that was only a year old but treated very poorly by its previous owner and like a RSPCA advocate at a puppy farm I bought the thing on the spot (its price reflected its condition). It appeared to only be superficial cosmetic damage (scratches all over and ...Read more
massive fuel spill stain all over the tank) but it is still a fantastic learner bike. I cannot get it past 80km/h and don't know if that is a function of my weight (95kg) or the fact that it was run-in poorly. In any case, I keep off the highway (which increases my trip time by about 10 minutes) and it runs like a dream at any speed equal to or below 70kph. There are no mechanical issues with this thing at all although, as soon as I've passed my practical from L's to P's I will look to upgrade to a CB400/500 or similar as a daily commute (I like the naked styling). It is an absolute miser on petrol & interestingly, I have found that 91 octane works better than 95 or 98. I have not read anywhere of anyone else experiencing the same so don't expect that from yours but if it happens that's a bonus. It will allow you to save a whooping one dollar per week given that you can only squeeze 10L into her anyway.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great first bike
Hi I had my honda cb125e for 3 day with 952km on the clock when purchased since then I've done 390km yep in 3days two long distance rides sat on 70-90km the most of time and was fine with this speed, but sore butt is a real issue after 45mins, don't really think the weight of rider will make much diff as I'm 100kgs and 6"3' tall, yes it's light and can get alittle blown around a bit, all I would say is don't bother getting thought the cars at lights as they will beat you anyway, so just keep left and it's fine, at today's price of fuel this is ...Read more

great little bike,
I bought my blue Honda new in april 2013 .the engine and gearbox was tight and the bike was slower than a wet week, but kilometres and patience had it performing as well as other reviewers have told in their reviews, 30+ kpl and 80 kph would 100kph if you were patient or going downhill.
I changed the rear sprocket from 45 down to 41 teeth and removed the small rubber snorkel on the air box, fitted an Ixll exhaust for a bit more noise as well because pedestrians were just walking out from any where cause the stock pipe was too quiet.I also fit...Read more

Honda CB125
Great little bike for $2500. It's a small Honda, the world learned to ride on small Hondas so you know they have it right. Super easy to ride for a beginner or a commuter. Nice bike fuel tank gives great range. It's also a real bike albeit a little one not some retro cool scooter. Why would you spend $10-15K on a you-beaut sports bike to commute on or some bashed up flogged 250 or a Hyosung 650GTR(ubbish) when this is such a good deal.
Cheap to buy new, easy handling, economical, 14L tank.
10.7 hp isn't too much but easily enough.

It's a honda!
I've now done 3000 ks had the bike for 1 year and it's been great. I've never owned a bike before and wanted something new, cheap and reliable. I looked at the Chinese alternatives but how can you go past the Honda badge and styling for $2500. I'm 6ft 3 and not the lightest but the bike hasn't flickered, yes it's not the quickest but that's the point, I'm learning and didn't want something that's going to get me into trouble. The gearbox is faultless, riding position really comfortable and handling very forgiving. As a first bike this has been awesome and don't regret buying it at all, couldn't recommend it more.
Gear indicator, reliable, easy to ride, perfect learners bike.

Bought a 2018 Honda Cb125e and had it shipped down to Hobart from Sydney with my furniture.
The keys have gone missing in the move.
I asked Horizon Hobart (Honda dealership here) if they can’t replace the keys with the code and they said they can’t after 2014 models.
I asked a locksmith and they said they can cut a key if it doesn’t have an immobiliser.
Then get the code and cut it.
Is this possible? Or will the entire barrel have to be replaced with newer bikes?
1 answer
It is possible for a locksmith to make a key out of the barrel. The hard bit is to find a blank key that has the same step, length and thickness of the original. The original has a long key which may be hard for locksmith to obtain. If the locksmith has to custom made it....the cost can be high
