Civic 8th Gen

Hi
I have a Honda Civic 2006 Model sedan, 112,000km. Have had no problems, very reliable but over the last two weeks and after heavy rain have notice my spare tyre compartment has filled with water and my back seat - all my seat is wet. After researching I have discovered many other civics around this time are having similar problems. Is this something Honda will fix due to a manufacturing fault or do I look at getting it resealed and paying the cost myself?

Not having experienced that problem (yet) I can only suggest that you contact the dealer where you purchased the vehicle to see what they can do-obviously the vehicle is out of warranty so I suggest all bets are off and it would depend on the good will of Honda. Is the water coming in around the window seal and if so it may just be a case of "old age". My Honda is only 4 yrs old so I hope I don't get any problems for a long time yet. Sorry I can't be more positive for you. Just have a go at them!

You will have to contact Honda or the Dealer that you purchased the vehicle from.

In NZ IMA battery is covered by 140,000km or 7 year warranty as long as the vehicle is not an import and if you are in Oz I'd expect about the same. In most cases they will be recalibrating it so best to take it to Honda dealer.

hey yasir yes there is warranty on the IMA battery.

You are not explaining your problem properly and you will probably have to re phrase the question though whatever problem you have it seems like you have 3 options here / number 1) take it to a Honda Australia workshop or a quality trustworthy honest and reliable mechanical shop or if the problem is with the electronics you will probably have to take the car to a auto electrician

brian
brian

How did you go - I understand what is happening after re reading the question your car is turning off when you stop and sometimes not / if them 3 options didn't work out it could have something to do with the gearbox in that case a transmission specialist workshop might be able to help you

I am having a problem with my hand break. I have adjusted a few times, and I have taken it to Honda three times. It seems like the break cable is stretching like a elastic band. Anyone know what I can do?. I have already had the car slowly slip down the drive while in 1st gear :(

If you have taken it to Honda and they did not resolved and you paid money I would insist they rectify the issue till is fixed, take it up to consumer affairs if they refused your request as you paid to get a job done.
I am thinking yours is a manual. so if you parked your car on a slope I would put it in reverse, the hand brake should work if not check your brakes not just the cable.

Your problem starts with your spelling, Martin - unless your hand really is broken.

brian
brian

You could try taking the car to a braking specialist if you like / they could even have after market parts that perhaps fit your car and while you at it you could have your brake pads re done and what not to increase your and passengers safety.

Brake pads replaced after 44,000 k not happy they should last at least until 60 k what's the problem this is my 5 th Honda never happened before

Cars are heavier than older cars due to the extra toys and added saftey things so brakes have to work harder to stop the now 1200kg of car.

in my opinion OEM consumable parts like brake pads dont last all that long.
my car has about 27000km and when i apply the brakes lightly the brakes squeal, but stop when i apply more pressure.
Sounds like the disc surface is not fully flat

Martin01
Martin01

I have 30000kms on my 2009 SI and break pads look like new still. Most of our driving is on flat roads, so may be why mine are still ok. I also have a 2006 Civic sedan with 91000 kms and can probably double that, so not sure why you are only getting 44k. There is no magic number as to how often you should change your brakes. Brakes will wear down differently depending on the make of the brake pads, the driving conditions, and even the vehicle. However you should check your brakes often, and change them when they show signs of wear. You can find more information here: http://news.carjunky.com/how_stuff_works/brake_pads_when_to_change_them_ca380.shtml

I was told by a good brake mechanic long ago that 80% of premature disk brake problems come from people who wash their cars wheels when the brakes are hot! If you spray a garden hose onto the disks after driving, it will more often than not, warp the disk calliper which then leads to 'pulsating' of the brake pedal and...premature wear. I have made a point of never washing the wheels when the disks are hot, and have never had to replace front disk pads under 70,000 Kms. Washing is different to rain, because the water from a wet road sprays equally onto both sides of the calliper, whereas washing only wets one side....so you have one side hot, the other side cold, Bingo, a warped disk!

How much does it cost to replace the batteries in a Hybrid Civic? We're looking at one that's approaching 100000 - cost of replacing batteries is a deciding factor I think.

I am buying a 2006 model Honda Civic. However reserching has identified many (in USA) have engine block cracking problems. Has anyone experienced the same in Australia or are the blocks manufactured at a different factory. Regards Craig

If you are worried about it perhaps it better not to take the risk as most model cars come out of the same factories and Honda isn't as good as they used to be when they were manufactured in the 1980 to the year 2000 period

Does anybody have a figure for fuel consumption for peak hour city stop-start driving ? I am getting 7.8L/100 km (claimed combined at 4.6L/100km). A 2008 model, travelled 39,800 km, IMA battery (original died) replaced at 37,400 km in 2013. The dealer said, "the computer said everything is ok ..."

5 answers
Fong
Fong

I usually get bout 6.5L/100k on peak hour city driving, but on a hot sunny day, it can go up to 7L+/100k. However, non-peak hr, I can do less than 6L/100k, sometimes 5.5ish. 4.6L/100k was apparently revised as that was long time ago, and as far as I know official levels are now 5.5L/100k combined, 5.2 highway and 5.9 city which certainly make more sense.

You are lucky. Mine is exactly the same model and consumes about 9.2 lites/100 km rather than the windowed labe of 4.6.

I was told on purchasing that a full tank will drive more than 1000 kms. Well it runs less than 500.

The battery has been fully replaced by Honda withing the first 3 years of its life.
The authorised repairer keeps saying "the computer said everything is ok ..." .
Honda Australia does care.

brian
brian

Who cares about the fuel consumption as long as it works well and it is a relatively safe car though if you still are worried about it you could have the engine replaced or rebuild at a Honda Australia workshop or a quality trustworthy honest and reliable mechanical shop if you like

I have seen the user manual for opening/closing windows using remote and I tried to use these function. Basically I can use the remote to open the windows but when it comes to close the windows, it doesn't work (By using the remote). I am wondering if any of you who got a Honda civic hatch VTi-S 2013 model does have all these function?

Rick it clearly says in the manual that this feature is not available on all models.

Grayfox
Grayfox

Rick the civic hatch is made in the Swindon plant in the UK.
The manuals we get are the same the UK drivers get.

The UK owners get the following trims from base model to fully kitted out
SE, SE-T, ES, ES-T, EX, EX-GT
and they get a special edition Ti.

Our VTI-S model is a base(ours is below the SE grade)
Our VTI-L is a little better.(In between SE-T and ES grade)
Our VTI-LN is like the VTI-L but with satnav(similar to ES)

We get a basic selection.
