very impressive honda!
Looked at almost every small/mid sized suv on the market then looked at one of these and was quite impressed. Very practical, I like how the rear seats fold 1000 different ways. Could do with a bit more front seat leg room for tall people but its more than enough for my partner and I. The exterior look fantastic, we got the blue which almost has a purple fleck through it in sun light. Its also quite good on fuel 7.5-8 mix of city and freeway.
Overall super happy with this car and will update my review in 6-12 months time.

This Micro SUV is the bees knees
Both wife and me like this vehicle for all purpose driving and the smart [up to date] technology/safety that it brings.
Looked around for similar comparisons and nothing in this class that has the size and efficiency to deliver in cost cutting.
Trouble is the wife likes it better CRV

the original city SUV is now a real city SUV
Built on a modified Jazz platform the HRV offers superior space to its rivals. The engine is good for city use a bit more grunt would be welcome. The road noise at highway cruising intrudes in the cabin. The equipment levels go across the range with safety features as city braking and blind spot camera
From the vtis and above. Fuel consumption is reasonable, but the party pieces is the space can comfortably fit the family and dogs with luggage an stroller in the back

Glad I took my time! Its been a dream
So I have only just purchased this car in April and it is now November I have done approx 15,000km. Yes, I do quite a bit of driving. It took me a while to select a car when I was originally looking. But, this little or should I say spacious HRV has been nothing but a pleasure to drive. I did quite a bit of research and the new Mazda was in the running, but I am so glad I selected the Honda HRV. The extra room which I gained with the width and length over the Mazda makes a world of difference especially with my little kiddies.

ed me if I would recommend this product I would say Yes at this point in time. I will do an update further down the track, but for the value and quality I received well I could not be happier :) I have had a Holden, Hyundai and Toyota in my time, but the Honda brand is by far a quality manufacturer. Just another note: When I purchased my car I referred my Mother to Honda and she purchased a CRV and I received a $150 gift voucher :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My little toy!
The ratings for this model are inaccurate as the 1999 model is completely different to the latest model. I purchased mine 4 months ago. I was deciding between a Mazda CX3 or this one. The Mazda's cabin was a let down so it was down to this beauty. It's is the VTi-L model (I wanted the sunroof and the sports' wheels) in carnelian red. I absolutely love everything (except for the fact that it doesn't have built in GPS but that's ok when you've got Metroview on your iPhone). It's a complete package and the magic seats give it so much room at the b...Read more
ack. The seat warmers are a good bonus and I find the auto CVT to help make up for the lack of oomph in the 1.8 L engine. I find the brake hold very handy when waiting at the lights and the Eco assist lighting gives a nice glow at night when driving. It's a great car for a young couple or single lady who is after something bigger than a hatchback and smaller than a 4WD and stays within the city. (Although the other day I drove 200km out of Perth and it was a smooth drive all the way.)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good car, town or highway
Purchased new. 1.8ltr CVT.
It is my Wife's’ car.
Looked at the VTi-L but didn’t think it was worth the extra cash. Have only done 4,000 kms so far.
Great around town, excellent on the highway. Wide wheelbase, very stable.
CVT is good once you get used to it, engine a little underpowered but has no turbocharger to cost you millions to get repaired.
Has all of Hondas’ excellent engineering, seats are comfortable and good high positioning, no blinds from pillars, its like getting into a cockpit. Good sized boot for its size.
Great reversing ...Read more

Love the HR-V 1999
Had the old HR-V from new, gave me excellent service, now on the 180,000km service is going to cost a bit as Honda say timing belt needs replacement at $600. Other then wear and tare all is good.

Unreal car
Love this car. Have owned one for 13 years. Never been a problem. If they still made them I would update to a newer model. If you look after your car you will get better performance. I did that and have had a great experience. The paint job looks as good as the day I bought it and it has never been garaged. I have had regular servicing and the motor still purrs like a kitten and i have done over 200,000km's. You don't see many of these cart for sale as people hang onto them as they perform well. When you do see one for sale it often has had only one owner. Speaks for itself me thinks.
Everything
nothing

Read the reviews and DON'T BUY
Yep just as the others said. Crappy gearboxes in these. Mine only had under 50,000 kms on the clock before failing, however I don't drive much, so was out of warranty. Honda's worst to date. Feels like a toy to drive.
Economical

Okay until it broke down
I also had a bad experience with the Honda HR-V. The gearbox ended up quitting after only around 110,000kms, making me wish i hadn't gone to the expense of the 100,000km service. I never missed a service on this car and treated her with much care.
I can't recommend this car.
Easy to Park
Not good quality at all

DON'T BUY THIS CAR
I owned the Honda HR-V continuous variable transmission 4WD for only 6 months. I wanted to get rid of it in the first week. The transmission had a surging feel to it when driving at slow speeds. This I could live with. However a few months down the track, the entire auto transmission failed. At a cost of $5000 to fix, I sold it to the wreckers.
The 2 glove boxes
Ugly, tinny, gutless up hills, expensive to fix. WORST CAR EXPERIENCE EVER

Excellent
The HR-V is a zippy little car, gets plenty of attention for its appealing look. Has all the usual reliable features, like really good air conditioner, easy to read dash, good handling, comfortable seats, good vision. I have always loved the reading lights, two glove compartments. Great fuel consumption. Fantastic reliable motor.
The HR-V has a distinctive exterior and the interior was ahead of its time. The driving position is great.
Nothing... Maybe downsizing boot size from CR-V and I miss the ergonomic in dash gear change.

Questions & Answers
Rob sasked
Hi I’ve purchased a new HRv RS model. This car suffers very badly of front end rattles worse on the drivers side. Handle bumps and Sydney roads well but ripples or waves in the bitumen just drives me crazy. Had back to Honda with dash resets and foamed and skittle plate replaced twice but still has that shitty noise. I’ve asked other drivers with the same model car and they say no! I’ve reported it to Hond Australia, and they say take it back to the dealer. I don’t wish to waste my or the dealers time, can anyone help me here or advise me on what to do. The car is coming up to 20000 in the first 12 months

How do I change, or turn off. the radio whilst the sat nav is on.

Before you put the Navigator on make sure you switch it to bluetooth phone first. Then put the navigator on.
I did not ask about the phone; I wrote, "the radio" Thank you
To control your music selection, use the left side steering wheel control.
Up-down is for volume control.
left-right is for station selection when using radio.
Source button is used to select different input sources (radio, USB, Bluetooth.......)
