My last machine was a Stihl & lasted 25 yrs. I would still have it if Stihl had parts to repair it. The Dealer just laughed at me when I brought it in. So I had no choice but to look for a new one. I looked at all the line trimmers in the market. Read a lot of reviews. It came down to Honda, Stihl or Husqvarna, and in the end it was this model or the Stihl FS 45 C. The Stihl was $60 cheaper, lighter but 2 stroke and didn’t feel as comfortable to hold. Tried both and there was no real difference trimming edges. Previous good experiences with H...Read more
onda mower & 4 stroke swayed my decision. Have used it all summer on 3 residential properties and have no regrets. I agree with most of the previous reports. Starts easily on the first pull, reliable, quiet, powerful, no vibration, economical and the Tap head is easy to load with line. 4 yr Warranty. I am tall and the ergonomics of the handle and engine housing fit my shape. Was a little more expensive than the competion ($350).1 comment

Crapheap of a 'trimmer...
This trimmer is the biggest piece of garbage !!!
I've only started it up and used it 4-5 times, and it no longer goes...
Nothing but heartbreak from day one...
Honda has such a good reputation for their engines ~ so why are their mowers and line trimmers such pieces of pathetic junk ?!?
I will never be buying another piece of honda machinery again ~ I might buy a Honda-powered third-party item ~ but Honda garden equipment is just too unreliable..

ZERO starts from me.. Expensive. Hard to start. Thirsty. Stalls frequently. No longer runs. Line head stuffed since new..

Not up to scratch
3 years old, serviced regularly and has never started first time since new,This season with 2 lots fresh fuel and 2 x spark plugs replaced cuts out after 30 seconds of starting and now doesn't start at all. Appears to have no spark at all.
4 stroke technology
Unreliable

what the hell are you on about Robert13 ? Find it strange if the thing didn't start from day one you didnt return it under warranty. You sound like you work for Stihl ?
Hi Rod,

My last wipper snipper ended up over the fence more times than I can count and ended up in small pieces but this Honda is the answer to my frustration I actually enjoy doing the edges and cant wait for the grass to grow so I can get out and use it I would highly recomend and would never look at a two stroke ever again.
Unleaded petrol,no vibration, easy load cord, lightweight, perfect length for tall person, one pull start and a very quiet operation

I had a talon 2 stroke before this and had heaps of problems even after having serviced it through the dealer. I was going to buy the makita 4 stroke because of the well regarded name that makita has. My father swears by Honda he has the same brushcutter and a honda 4 stroke lawn mower and never had a problem. I brought it from the local Honda dealer in my town and saved over $200 for the same thing Bunnings warehouse had. All in all I would recommend this product to any one without hesitation
Easy to start. No mixing oil and fuel. Light weight. Easy to change the oil
None what so ever

Tried all the different 2-stroke line trimmers in the market. I would spend close to an hour trying to get them started! with the Honda 4-stroke always starts first pull. Will never go back to a 2-stroke again!
- Easy to Start
- No more petrol/oil mixing
- Great for big backyards
- Light & Easy to carry around

Quality you would expect from a Honda. Very quiet which is a good thing with a new baby I can trim whenever I want. I would never buy a 2 stroke again.
It's light, quiet and starts very easily. I love the way it just idles away just purrs and when I put it down and does so until I return.
none as yet

You wont be dissapointed with this unit. All in all the best value in its class. Quiet, no vibration, powerful while being cleaner and more fuel efficient.
My husband wanted a Bosch but after reading reviews I bought him the Honda UMS425. It has the same motor as the tougher commercial units so has more power and is more powerful than any other unit in its class. It starts first time and is so much quieter than our old whipper smipper. Your hand doesnt vibrate so it is smoother and easier to use and you dont get that nasty burnt fuel smell from...Read more

This unit replaced a 34cc 2 stroke Kawasaki motored whipper snipper (with bike bars) that I'd used reliably for 27 years - so it has a lot to live up to. Previous good experiences with Honda products (& the quiet 4 stroke motor) swayed the decision. My unit was supplied with manual, goggles and a very solid Honda shoulder strap. So anyone buying one without - may wish to go back and claim what should come with the unit.
Nice and quiet, starts 1st time and has plenty of torque with the 4 stroke motor. Easy controls and surprisingly good operating control ergonomics.

if you are looking to buy a whipper snipper, this is the one you should buy. I garentee it will not annoy you. and another bonus is that it is four stroke, so it doesn't need a fuel and oil mixture.
i love this petrol trimmer. Most of my 2 stroke whipper snippers die out and takes me ages to fix and start, but this one has never given me a problem in the 7 months that i have owned it for. It also starts on the first pull which is heaps good.
The only con is that a shoulder strap is not supplied, but with it's light weight i really isn't a big issue.

There are kits on-line that claim to do just that and I've used a blade on mine instead of the head so I would think the answer is yes.
