HP Is the worst manufacturer of printers
HP secretly updates it's printers unless you dig down deep into its system and turn off the AUTO UPDATE setting. It does this to stop people using aftermarket ink.
It also has so many problems with loading any other paper other than PLAIN Paper.
Sure it does fax (who needs that) But I can't even scan to computer anymore. The after sales help is so bad, if any. Online boards are full of questions but no real answers most of the time.
I wish I had never bought one.
Going to the dump next run and I will buy NON HP next.
Perfect all in one printer
I have had this printer for over 12 months now. I do not like to review unless I have used it properly. This printer is fantastic, it has good quality print jobs in all types. I have printed photos, labels, plain paper, etc.
I do find the label side of things does tend to drift outside the pre-set sections at times. Not sure if this is the printer or the paper manufacturer. I have printed card stock which is ok for a while before it starts smudging and printing half on and half off.
easy setup and integration
online complaints about the set-up must have been solved by HP. this thing knew the date before i had even connected to my wifi or computer. the software download is huge but it runs well, i copied the 250MB install file to a usb and installed in minutes on multiple win 7 machine. Prints are fast and clear. prints via android phone through the wifi network. The email function works great, just send an email with an attachment to the printers email address (!@#$%^@hpeprint.com, which you can easily change to whatever you like) and the printer does the rest. wow. very happy so far. it's pretty big with a big protruding "nose" out the front. fine for an office but i have it on my desk.

Sorry I purchased this only cost $200 ink cartridges cost just over $200. First one DOA never worked, HP sent replacement, this one after working for approx 10 days started to play up, won't scan or print says its not communicating (usb connected), so after tech support, they are sending another new printer, if it was not for the fact I purchased the cartridges which cost more than the printer I would not buy it again. When it did work it was good but it only worked for just on a week, now waiting for another new replacement printer

Know better, choose better.
Brilliant and well worth the price.
Purchased this printer only last week after regretfully replacing a HP printer which was fantastic, with a printer of another brand which was a huge mistake. Only had it a couple of months and was so bad I decided to go back to the old trusty "HP". Could not be happier with this printer. Very easy to set up and get connected to my network, quality of print is brilliant and although a bit bulky and takes up a reasonable amount of room, printing is fast and it is very efficient. Ink's are somewhat expensive and yet to test out the economics of it
... Read more but very happy with all other aspects at this stage. 10% off at The Good Guys as well as cash back from HP have made it an even better decision to purchase. Won't be straying from HP again when it comes to printers that's for sure. Can't go wrong with this one.Good value for money.
This printer is easy to set up. Easy to use. Save paper by printing double sided and save coloured ink by printing grayscale. It is super quick. Scans,,faxes and is wireless or USB. It is worth shopping around for. I had a real win with the cash back from HP as well! Cartridges go for 1600 pages. Printing quality is superB. The printer size is compact but 2x higher an a little wider then a simple HP 2400. Worth it though. I use it privately but would think a small business would be very happy with it. Bottom lline...I am really stoked with this product.

My OfficeJet 8720 is 28 months old. It has not had a lot of work and I have only just had to replace the Black cartridge. On replacing with an OE cartridge the printer came up with a message "One or more of the cartridges are missing or damaged". I assumed the new black cartridge was faulty so have purchased another pack of OE cartridges but when I installed a new black cartridge I get the same message?
I have been using a HP Officejet Pro 8620 for the past 5 years now the printer heads needs replacing. I do about 6,000 copies per year. I am going to buy a new printer what model do you suggest.
Thanks Mick
I have officejet pro 8720 - unit was cheap to buy (cheaper than replacing the print head), as usual the ink cartridges are what costs the most, have not had any issues with the new 8720 which I replaced about 6 months ago. Don't print like I used to when we did not email invoices and use to mail them. Had an issue in the beginning - you need to uninstall all old drivers and re-install new driver 8720 so that you get all functions - I did not do this as PC loaded it automatically (it does not load new features), it still worked but had issues, so un-installed old drivers and re-install new drivers have not had a problem since.
Thanks Anne much appreciated as that is one that i am looking at.

i have the 8720 and it works well. tried non genuine cartridges and had dramas with patchy printing so bought genuine and used nearly a quarter of the ink doing the cleaning process to get it going properly. i still have the non genuine ones so i might try them again as it appears it may not have been non genuine cartridges but the print heads clogged.
I've heard that this printer prints photos so they come out picture face down and are therefore subject to smudging. Can anyone confirm this? thanks.
I can confirm it does finish the printing with the paper face down. I haven't printed photos with mine so can't comment on smudging. But for 12c at Officeworks I wouldn't think the OfficeJet could do it better or cheaper. IMHO.
Thanks rosscoandsandi. You make a good point.
It does finish the print photo side down and to be honest, while it is a great printer for everyday printing both black & White and colour, it is not real great for photos. I purchased a separate photo printer for photos.
Hi Jessta, can I ask what you got for photo printer? Thx
