Husqvarna TS 246
I Reviewed this mower after owning it for 21/2 years when it was OK and still under warranty.
" have had this mower for approx. 2 1/2 years during this time apart from a cutter head bearing collapsing and the fuel filler cap needing THOR to open or close it has been excellent.
My neighbor bought one several months ago and the front wheel fell off on the 2nd mow ???"
BUT just before the 5year warranty period finished the welds on the chassis bracket to the transaxle broke and I thought the transaxle was failing - repaired under warranty.
Just ov...
Read moreer 5 years the chassis rail on the R/H side cracked all the way through and I was forced to repair the fracture. Now at the 5 1/2 year finished warranty point the L/H chassis/chair mount where it mounts to the support the transaxle has completely broken away. I weigh 72kg so if you weigh over that you might want to be very careful in your choice of mowers. It's still good BUT!!!! ------

Used on steep inclines and over large debris for 7 years. Only issue was air locking of petrol tank. Clutch now needs service. Great machine to mow regular and irregular areas.
Purchased in January 2012 for $4,200.
My TS246 was purchased late in 2016 just after we moved from the city to a 2 acre block at Clare in rural SA. The only level part of the block has the house on it; the rest is up and down with a gulley running through. The front half of the block is grassed with the back is quite rough, with patches which are too rough to mow. There are a fair number of sticks and stones.
Having a dog means that just about anywhere there are sticks and other rubbish hidden in the grass.
Boggy conditions mean traction can be lost if the cutters are too low.

Read moreve not had any trouble until now. The other day I was mowing when I saw a metal object sticking out of the ground, I recognised it as a blade. The retaining clip had disappeared. I think the caps went long ago. Talking with the dealer we are arranging a swing blades conversion which will better suit the block. In all other aspect I am satisfied. The petrol line mod was fixed by me with a cable tie. It was worth moving from the city to get this mower.
Purchased in December 2016.

last year i decided to move to the Husqvarna TS 246 after years of issues with a Victa(still have) issues again :-
exhaust muffler fell off after 5 hour
front wheel fell off at 10 hours
Recall for fuel line issue which Husqvarna would not pay for return to dealer
Changing security code - dealer cant help, had to contact Husqvarna
uneven idle @ 50 hours - check all used same petrol in the car - solution use 98 octane
blade cover fall off weekly
conclusion high maintennce like Victa

I find the mower ok however I paid $900 for the grass catcher and it is absolutely useless. What a waste of money... picks up a handful of grass and leaves the rest in chunks on the lawn. I will be contacting manufacturer to see what they have to say

Not that impressed with mower, Had mower back twice to dealer as mower wouldn’t reverse within 2hrs old! firstly was told it needed purging, was in dealership for two weeks, second time different dealership they had to replace the diff at a substantial cost, luckily mower is still under warranty. Mower still squeals when driving! Not happy with that but motor starts 1st time every time.

I purchased this because thinking that its a good brand. But to my deep disappointment the belt was broken and some of the blades were bent and I was using it on a normal place in Victoria. To make matter worse, its not covered under warranty, and I had to come out of my own money for replacement. And I have not abused the equipment plus I set the cutting height to be the highest.
December 6th 2017 Update: Poor Quality product matched with Non service at all
Not only has the mower failed miserable after using slightly more than 10 hours, now after calling and email, there is not a single phone call nor email.
Total lack of care factor for such a company like this. What else can I say
No news from you guys yet

Lovely mower, easy to start (no key entry just push buttons in a certain order) cuts well. We have the mulch attachment that we use frequently. Safety feature if you get off the seat it turns off immediately and if you sit back on and start again the cutters (if they were on previously) won't start, you need to stop and start them again. We bought the wagon also and it's handy for moving timber around the property. Very nice mower. Not as expensive as others but we found it still works well.

I have had this mower for approx. 2 1/2 years during this time apart from a cutter head bearing collapsing and the fuel filler cap needing THOR to open or close it has been excellent.
I cut 5 pretty steep acres and traction is good with the body thrown over to compensate.
Very fast ground speed and cutting.

Purchased one of these over the 2016 Christmas break, from a dealership in Geelong.
I had a lot of issues with it to start. After it was delivered, it ran perfect for 10 minutes then stopped all of a sudden and would start again. It appeared to have flooded itself, so we let it breathe and tried again a few hours later, had trouble getting it to start but it eventually did, ran for another 10 minutes and stopped again, same issue with flooding.
Called dealership, they brought us over a new one. We had the exact same problem with this one....
Read more We took out the filter and removed the foam sleeve that sits around the filter. Couldn't see anything in the manual about this, perhaps was just there for transit from factory and wasn't removed in pre-sale checks. Started up better this time. The first 0 to 5 hours had several random stops, but then I ran it from 5-10 hours continually (did a lot of hauling with the trailer that day) and haven't had any issues since. Now on about 25 hours and it's been a dream since 10 hours. Maybe it just takes some time to "wear in"? Just a heads up for anyone else who has these problems with it. Cuts great, no signs of clippings so it must cut them very fine. Was worried about using it on a sloped paddock but it climbs all the hills around my yard with no issues.Questions & Answers

Further issues - quick release cover came off then damage to blade quick release and blades, ok after fitting spare parts - better quality and fitted correctly. and only runs well 95/98 octane fuels
