Faulty vehicle and bad customer service
I have had my car since Jan 2016, it is a 2015 SE Elantra purchased brand new. It has been back in for repairs more times than I should have had to for general servicing in 5 years. The air-conditioning stopped working within a couple of weeks. It took the repair guys at least three times for them to identify the problem. Then you have to wait for parts and a loan vehicle which is more weeks wait....in summer with no air con. They had it for four days to replace the evaporator. Winter they finally got it working. Last week it stopped again......compressor this time.....still waiting to hear when it will be fixed....I will not be holding my breath......I will not buy Hyundai again.

The worst costumer service ever I had in Australia.
I have an 2011 Hyundai Elantra Elite.
I have a rear parking sensor issue. It beeps constantly while in reverse. It also does not happen every time. I happens mostly afternoon when after I drive 2-3 hours. Specially in hot weather conditions I realized.
I also had exactly same problem about 5 months ago and Hyundai Essendon fixed the issue that time for free because my car is under new car warranty.
1- I went to Hyundai Essendon at 09:00 am on 4th April 2016 as have been booked to inspect why there is constant rear parking sensor beeping w...Read more
hile in reverse. 2- Daniel who is Hyundai Essendon worker told me there is only one rear parking sensor dislocated left side of rear bumper. 3- I asked him that did he checked the all the sensor and he was sure that dislocated sensor makes the constant beeping? He said confidently Yes. 4- That time there was no even constant beeping at all because I drove my house to Hyundai Essendon straightaway in 20 minutes and the weather was cold. I asked him in this condition how did you check all the the sensors and relative parts and then decided that dislocated sensor makes the constant beeping. 5- He told me this is common sense and firstly I need to fix the dislocated sensor and then He will check other things to fix the issue. 6- I told him he did not even check anything he did not even know that dislocated sensor makes the constant beeping but he told me he checked and he is confidently knows that dislocated sensor makes the constant beeping.Similar opinion? Excellent Car for Everyone
I have had three Hyundai Elantra cars now and although I wanted something different this time round, I still ended up with another. I love the small price for a car that does everything and more another brand does. I have researched all similar cars and found that the Elantra has all the extras included in the price, whereas they are not included with other brands. The best part though, is the performance. My last Hyundai was a 2.0L and this one has dropped to 1.8L. I was a bit skeptical at first but found it has more power than the old one and...Read more
handles like a dream. The interior is spacious and has excellent leg room. I love the bluetooth connectivity. It is so easy to use. The only real fault with this model is the side vision. I find that is difficult to see cars over my shoulder and my daughter agrees with this. Other than that, the reversing sensors are fantastic. I don't know how people can drive without them now. I have the sun roof with my model but in Queensland it is usually too hot to make full use of it. It also comes with heated seats which warm up almost instantly, but once again, not much use to me in this hot climate. The running costs are very low too. Absolutely love this car.Similar opinion? Great Car
I purchased a 2015 MD3 Hyundai Elantra Premium.
The car is great and handles well particularly cornering when steering is set to sport mode. Flex steer is a great feature!
Car is roomy for a small sized sedan and the boot space is massive!
The car looks the part, drives well and has a great amount of features. For a 1.8 engine it goes pretty good and overtaking on the freeway is effortless for the car of its class. It would be good to see a higher spec engine model but never the less it's a great car.
Full size alloy spare included, non of this space saver or crappy tool kit.

Great Family Car
Had a 2015 Hyundai Elantra SE for over 6 months purchased brand new from Hyundai, and cannot fault it.
It handles really well and you can also select the steering type you prefer (i.e. soft, normal and sport) I tend to leave it in normal most of the time. It's relatively quiet on the road. The interier is quite spacious for a small sedan, we fit a infant capsule in the backseat without having to pull the passenger seat all the way forward. The boot is also quite spacious and features a full size spare wheel which you don't get in all cars the...Read more

Hyundai catching up
Have now had this car, the current model for 2.5 years and traveled just under 30k.Bought it new and got the base model as this was the only model with a manual gearbox. The car is fitted with all the latest safety including all round curtain airbags.
The ride around town is precise, the steering maybe a little light but quite enjoyable and the gearbox easy to work through but it is no sports gearbox. All the controls are easy to operate and in close reach, with steering wheel controls for the stereo. Over the 30k journey with an occasional...Read more
country drive I have averaged 7.5 lt per 100k, with the tank costing about $55 to fill. It equates to me filling the tank maybe once a month and on a country drive getting a blip over 800k from the tank. Reliabilty hasn't been a problem so far nor should it for a car in it's third year, servicing is once a year/15k and costs about $220. It comes with a 5 year warranty and free roadside assistance whilst the car is serviced by Hyundai. The only negative I can come up with is the carpet used is pretty cheap and my wifes heel in her boot wore a hole in it after 18 months, of course if I had stumped up the $95 for factory fitted floor covers, it wouldn't have happened. As it was Kmart had a generic version that cost $12. The car is big enough for four adults, not five unless it is a short trip, the boot holds a good deal more than it looks from outside. The pick up in the manual version is fine without being outstanding in the manual version but less than inspiring in the auto version, still it is a 1.8 litre engine which hasn't been worked so should last you the journey of 15 years. For the price, these cars are an impressive effort and well worth the look at if you are deciding between the car makers under 2 litre models, they have definitely closed the gap on Toyota for reliable small cars.Similar opinion? Love it!
My new Elantra is extremely comfortable around town and also on freeways. It handles winding roads accurately and has enough power to climb hills easily. What surprised me the most was the value for money: the standard model is fitted with options usually reserved for more expensive cars! Recommend it to anyone!

Gets the job done automatically with less financial shock.
10000Ks . Plusses; Standard unleaded.Very comfortable seats.acceptable highway performance with auto transmission, fuel consumption OK,Good interior space up front.big boot terrific,(but a long reach to the back).Looks very sporty in white (she loves its swoopy lines..)Faults;-Sun makes legs hot through very angled front window, even with air conditioning.Air conditioner noisy.Suspension/ride could be better. Better tyres than the hankooks would be nice.Full size spare tyre should be easier to put air into,(valve on boot bottom).Boot cover just bare minimum .Average interior hard plastic Appearance, but easy to wash. So, good value for not big money, $21000.

Extremely Disappointed
2012 Elantra Active Purchased brand new .List of problems : rough starting (fixed twice, but problem persisted), clunking drive sharft, sticky back parcel shelf, seat belt wouldn't release, rear view mirror fell off, wandering steering . Very annoyed that I was sucked in by shiny paint and saturation advertising. Some one else's problem now .

Excellent family vehicle
We have owned our 2013 Elantra since October 2013. We bought it from DC Motors in Rockhampton. We cannot fault the service provided so far before and after the sale. They even walked us around to the side of the business to show us where we could park the car when we brought it in for its first Look-See after 1500 km just to make sure all was good and that we were happy with the vehicle. The vehicle was purchased for my wife who is quite a tiny lady. She test drove a Lancer and Cerato (nothing wrong with either car - good vehicles) but she sett...Read more
led on the Hyundai. First off it looks like it's doing 120 kph just sitting still in the garage. Very nice/sexy shape. The electric steering is very light and very pleasant to use. The boot is enormous before the back seats fold down and cavernous afterwards. The seats do not lie flat and gives the space a slight upturned banana shape so very long objects e.g. whipper snipper won't fit in. However, you could drive three of your friends and all of their luggage to the airport, no problem. The seats are very comfortable. I have a bad back but today I drove it for 4 hrs from Bundaberg to home in Rockhampton, had a 15 minute break and then drove it to a friend's house. It was like I hadn't stepped into the vehicle all day. No fatigue. My wife loves the sound system/bluetooth features. Pumps out a good sound. Dash layout and instruments are easy to locate and read. Steering wheel controls are easy to understand and well laid out. Cruise control is very smooth. After driving smaller cars for may years I'm only just getting used to the larger turning circle so I think the parking 'disasters' and retries will reduce with more practice. It accelerates very quickly when the pedal is pressed. I'm very cautious when using the accelerator in heavy traffic. I tend to get pushed back into the seat if I drive it like my little Rio. What prompted me to write this review was my drive down to Bundaberg and back again this week. The fuel gauge consists of 12 small horizontal bars laid out vertically on the instrument panel. On the way down it only dropped 1 bar. On the way back it only dropped 1 bar so I'm assuming the fuel gauge isn't broken. Filled it up in Bundaberg with 25 litres. That is all the way from Rockhampton to Bundaberg and 3 days driving around Bundy on only 25 litres for a 1.8L engine. This vehicle is fantastic for only $22K approx. I highly recommend that if you are wanting a solidly built medium sized car that you do not discount a test drive in this vehicle. Comfort, fuel economy, smooth cruise control, sound system, visibility, light steering, overall shape Doesn't have a full sized spare.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2011 Elantra great before fire
Here are the good points before the car burst into flames.
It is economical. Fuel usage of a small car but space of a medium which is great for a small family. It is very comfortable as I had the premium with leather. Heated seats are great in the winter. Also extras such as the night rear view mirror auto adjusting for lights from behind and parking sensors are great. Most of all it drives well. Therefore you would think that Hyundai would take just a tiny little bit of interest when the car, 18 months old, sitting in my driveway and not use...Read more

Our new car
Traded our 2000 accent, owned from new, in the purchase of new model elantra march 2012. After 1 year we can report the following a) leaking fuel injecter after 2 weeks. This is a very dangerous problem which was rectified immeadiately our local hyundai dealer found the cause of the fuel smell in the cabin. And b) front parking sensors failed after 6 months due to poor initial installation. The car is a pleasure to drive. The interior is a little "star-trekky" but much more interesting than nearly all the other dash treatments in even much mor...Read more
e expensive vehicles. Lots of nice touches in the cabin, tons of space. The rear seats don't fold flat however and the rear windscreen really needs a washer/wiper. The rightside windscreen pillar is a bit too thick and may initially block vision in some situations. The engine makes good power and the six speed auto is very good. Living in regional nsw this is a great car for us. shape, engine/gearbox combo, 5yr/unlimited km warranty, quick fix for problems fuel injecter leak, front parking sensor failure, needs rear windscreen washer/wiper, front pillar impairs sightSimilar opinion? Great car for the price
We chose the Elantra for a second car (larger people mover as we have a large family). We considered several new cars including the Mazda 3, but chose the Elantra for overall value - the specs we got for the price.
We went for the middle of the range, with leather steering wheel, push button start and keyless entry. Overall we've found the build quality is excellent, the fuel efficiency is great (although unsurprisingly not quite what the specs rate it at) and it's been a dream to drive.
Pros: It's a comfortable ride with great space insi...Read more
de and in the boot, you would not think of it as a 'small' car. Travels well even at speed, very quiet engine, features all work well together. Looks great on the road, you feel great driving it. Cons: 'Auto' wiper sensor is a little sensitive, you find it goes from too slow to too fast whilst using it. Fuel consumption gets down to maybe 7.5 L/100K at best, in our experience so far (highway driving). Bluetooth in built in stereo can be a bit finicky too. Hyundai servicing are not the cheapest, and staff not always the friendliest. Not exactly a racehorse on the road, but still quite responsive. Overall though we'd highly recommend it. Reliable car, cheap to run, great features for the price. Minor issues with auto wiper speed, bluetooth a bit fussySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What should I do to improve the visibility of my reversing camera at night for my 2015 Hyundai Elantra Elite?
3 answers
Hi Michael,
There isn't a lot that can be done to improve visibility with the reversing camera at night. You can try by turning on your rear fog lights to illuminate the rear a little bit.
The rear cameras are usually there to show the immediate surrounds of the rear of the vehicle and not any further than that. Generally speaking around 4-5 meters.
But in low-light conditions, there isn't a lot you can do to improve visibility. This is common across car cameras.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for helping answer the question, I really appreciate it.
I followed your advice and turned on my rear fog lights but it didn't help.
If I were to change the bulbs in my reversing lights for brighter ones, do you think they would make a greater impact on night visibility?
Hi Michael,
I don't think changing your lights will help. Reversing camera's are pretty basic and don't feature infra-red or a night mode. There really isn't anymore that can be done regarding the visibility during the night.

Do not use E10 or ninety one, when I bought the car I was told 01 was ok but it lacked power. Since I changed to 98 I have found much better mileage and have the power back. It took 2 tank fulls to get this result. Hope it works for you.
