Not As Bad As Made Out
I have recently purchased a Jeep Compass limited brand new and could not be happier about my purchase, I compared it to many other vehicles in the same class, and many could not come close to the value for money, looks and features that the Compass offered. Being my first venture into an American built car, I am quite impressed. The interior has ample space, easily allowing for up to 5 adults. The multimedia features are also impressive with Bluetooth connectivity,DVD playback, reversing camera and navigation. Additionally the Limited's Boston ...Read more
audio system does not disappoint any of your favorite tracks and offers strong natural bass with minimal distortion. The Limited's leather heated seats are of a premium feel keeping you nice and warm and the stitching around the seats adds to the compass's style. Being a regular night time traveler the adaptive review mirror is of a great advantage, reducing the glare from other cars. Other great features of the car include an automatic driver's seat, heated side and folding mirrors. The only fault that i could find with the interior is the lack of a soft touch dashboard, but even then that is of minimal concern. On the road the Compass is not the fastest of cars but the Limited's 2.4L engine offers ample acceleration and given that the compass is a small cross over SUV and not in the sports sedan category, the acceleration offered is more than enough for users in that market. The 6 Speed transmission is very smooth in shifting and helps to keep RPM's at around 2,000 at 100km/h. I have yet to get a true feel of the 4WD mode but given it's a Jeep it will be more than enough for light adventure. Fuel consumption is somewhat average and is around 10.0 L/100km when city driving. When at low speeds the cornering is good but too fast and it will give a tilt feeling. Overall I am impressed with the car and I will have a look at Jeep again when I want a new car.Similar opinion? Really like my 2010 Jeep Compass
have had a couple little things, like the ball bearings in the one back tire, that cost 190$, Grogan Chrysler jeep reimbursed me since the noice started about the time the warranty expired. Right now front ball joint on one front tire is being replaced, cost around 270$. Luckily I am in for 24,000 mile checkup. Otherwise......I am satisfied.

Was offered the Compass (4,300km) as an 'upgrade' when renting a car at Brisbane Airport for a couple of days driving around - country and city. Not sure what i was expecting but I did feel disapointed with it. Major grips in no particular order: 2L atuo underpowered, handles like a shopping trolly, seemed to use a large amount of fuel for distance I travelled, transmission noise was obvious and irritating, brakes lacked any kind of feel and appeared weak, the petrol cap is a shocker - the hinge on the cover will not allow you to take a firm g...Read more
rap of the lockable cap it is unclear what way the key needs to be turned to unlock and then what way the cap needs to be turned to release locked or unloked, turned or unturned it just roteates with no feedback as to when you have it in the right position to give it a (stiff) pull to get it off, when I returned the Compass and they asked me what I thought of it (strange that they should ask - or not?) I told them and they admitted that others had bought the car back nearly empty of fuel because they could not manage to fill itSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my Compass!
we bought this instead of a rav 4 & are soooo happy with it.
Fun to drive, easy to park, luxury accessories and great warranty service! The only negative thing is that a rearward facing baby seat means the passenger or driver needs to sit a bit awkward. But for price comparison I can't complain! Such a bargain!

Slightly Unfair Reviews
I bought a new Jeep Compass MY14 Manual Sport at the end of November in 2014. I was after a simple upgrade from an old 1995 Mercedes - something that was reliable, relatively fuel efficient and something that could easily be packed for a road trip to the beach/snow/Queensland (1,000kms away).
So far the Compass has been perfect for my every needs. I picked it up at 80km's and have now done 4,500kms. I chose the manual as I believe it gave that extra power control needed with only the 2.0L engine over the CVT which I found incredibly sluggis...Read more
h. The manual isn't great but it is bearable for what I need. It has been a super comfortable drive so far and passengers have frequently commented on the comfort of the vehicle whether in the passenger seat or rear seats. The road noise might be a little more than other cars? I don't know and doesn't worry me. The Compass I have is only 2WD as well which I wouldn't go for again however this deal was too good to pass up. I managed to buy the car brand new for $20,000 up in Brisbane. Being an under 25 year old driver the insurance costs I found far cheaper than my Mercedes. The basic model includes all the necessities like Bluetooth (as a side note you can stream audio from your smart phone which many many many reviews say you can't. You'll just need to sync the phone as normal and press the button on the back of the right side of the steering wheel in between the volume controls), voice control, heated seats, heated side mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring, compass, fuel consumption info, 12 radio presets, hill start assist, good stock speakers, CD player, and a hidden torch in the boot. Around town the 2.0L engine is fine. Helps make for good fuel consumption (I get around 9L/100 in urban, close to 7L/100 highway). With 3 years warranty and free 24/7 roadside assist I plan to hold on to this car for the 3 years and will likely look at selling afterwards. As people have mentioned up steep slopes you will notice the sluggishness, it's personal preference about how much of a deal that is - I'd recommend to definitely test drive one. The 2.0L and 2WD is a slight disappointment that will change in my next vehicle.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Would never buy one...
I just rented an almost new (3,000km) Jeep Compass. I drove it on freeways, up and down mountains and parked in various odd places. I found it very, very underpowered going up reasonably steep roads near Springbrook, but hardly the steepest inclines. Sat Nav was average, if I didn't have a sense of the right direction at times and fully trusted it, I'd have taken wrong turns. Reversing is tough, I see why it has a camera, because the rear side view is almost completely blocked by weird rear side window design. Suspension on tight highway corners feels like you don't quite have 100% control. I would not buy one even at $10K less than RRP, which I was shocked at. Jeep needs to do better to compete.

Little room in back seat
Took a Jeep Compass for a test drive. A big issue for a family is that the console extends into the back area, especially the cup holders, effectively not allowing three children, let alone adults to sit in the back. Appeared to be underpowered for the size of the car.
Internal design inadequate

Seduced by great adds we bought a Jeep Compass at the end of November 2013. For three months it was great. A nice drive in fact. Then in March it just failed to start. The remote opening wouldnt work from more than 1 metre away. The care was towed away. A fortnight later we got it back. The following day I just shut down while we were 30k's form nowhere. Another week and a half went by and we got it back. Fuse problems apparently. Although they looked at the power harness as well. Two days later it was on the truck again after shutting d...Read more
own, again 12k's from town. That was five weeks ago. Still no car. However, they have finally decided it was the power harness. Now that harness has to be imported from the states via who knows where and it could be at least another 12 weeks before we get the car back. So be warned, don't buy a Jeep, well mine will be for sale when we get it back. Make an offer. Nice Drive Towed away three times and the service department have had it longer than we haveSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2013 compass
Scored a used 2013 compass a few weeks back and love it. Drives well around the city and out in the country cruises nicely. Haven't tried it off-road yet but not what it's for. The heated leather seats are comfy and the 5 speed manual is clean and responsive. Plenty of room for what I need and drives like a much smaller car. Very happy
Heated Leather seats, 5-speed manual, leg room
Would love it in a V6

DONT BUY A JEEP!
I bought my 2008 compass brand new. Where do i start....
3 weeks in, the turbo hose detaches, very inconvenient, and.... 3 weeks!
2 years 2 months, turbo hose cracks, jeep melville take 2 weeks to fix it.
11 months later, hose cracks again, just out of warranty, jeep do not honour the cost, I have to wait 2 weeks again and pay $600, appaling. And Jeep Melville are among the rudest people I have ever dealt with.
After just 5 1/2 years, upon needing (and wanting) to get rid of it, 2 reputable dealerships both value my car at a pathetic $600...Read more

Love my Jeep Compass 2013 Sport
My Jeep Compass 2013 Sport is a solid, well built and great styled car. I bought this car as a city runabout and, for that, it is perfect . The 2.0ltr engine is obviously not for rev heads as you won't do 0 to 100km in the same time as a sports car. In saying that, when you put the foot down, even up hills, it does accelerate well. I have driven many SUVs as car rentals and some, when you put the foot down, simply rev higher but don't go any faster. The Jeep responds well. Keeping this car to a 2.0ltr means it maintains a really good fuel...Read more
efficiency. I fill my car with 95 as opposed to E10. E10 fuel may be cheaper, but its efficiency is less - hence I am getting better performance and longer kms with the 95. Before purchasing my Jeep I checked out the Toyotas, Holdens, Mazdas and VWs. Anything that was comparable by price to the Jeep felt smaller, less stylish to me. Their interior space was definitely narrower, making for a feeling as though the interiors were closing in on me. By contrast, the Jeep interior is lovely and spacious. I found many of the new SUV car designs had blind spots. The Jeep Compass 2013 is no exception. To resolve this, I negotiated front and rear parking sensors in the purchase price. If you are going to negotiate for an inclusion, then this is the one you want. The sensors are fantastic and give you that extra piece of mind when backing up in a medium size vehicle. They are definitely a plus and make reversing into tight spots really easy. I also negotiated tinted windows in the price. I believe they have added to the sleek, great look of the car (Mine is white with black trim). All the windows were tinted, excluding the windscreen. My husband's view is that the jury is still out about the driver and passenger windows having been done as it does diminish visibility of other cars at sunset who don't yet have their headlights on. I love the tint and think it was a great extra option. I was a little nervous about my choice when I first bought this car, worried that I should have bought the 2.4ltr 4x4 for its engine size. I needn't have worried. The 2.0ltr has more than ample power. I don't use my car for off road. So that means I get the style and fuel efficiency. The 2.0ltr option in this style was right for me and my driving needs.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
I have bought a 2008 jeep compass everything on this car is cheap from inside to outside.
After I have bought my brand new 2008 jeep compass I regularly had problems with it. After 25 k I had to change the front tire. I felt a vibration on the steering and my tire was a reck. At the dealer the manager told that nothing was wrong with the car and the problem was a normal use of the tires. I put new Michelin tire on the car to make that those tires were a better quality. 3 months later the same problem appeared my front tires was again a complete reck. Why there are not a recall for those car if it's put our lives in danger? You know, I have read a lot about that kind of car before buying it, every book have tell to avoid that car. I din't listening and bought that car. Personally I will never by a jeep or Chrysler product again. Don't do as I did, listen, avoid those car. It's cheap, you will have to regularly pay to change all kind of parts for the front direction and some other issues I have experiencing. After many complains Chrysler never did nothing about it. 2012 Compass 2.4 CVT Limited
Bought it because waiting list for a GC Diesel was too long. Done roadtrip between Perth and Melbourne with no problems. Lots of rear seating space. Radio and Uconnect worked perfectly. Fuel consumption was great for the trip. Averaged at 8.5l/100km with 4 adults and luggage over 9000km. No problems to mention apart from radio dying twice after the car was switched on. Fiddling with the fuse brought it back to life. After about 20 000km started getting a little more nippy, especially at 4000rpm. Great sand driving. We were sad to see i...Read more

What type of tyres are on your compass, do you have much road noise. I have the same model in New Zealand with continental tyres fitted, boy it has a lot of road noise.
Yes also Contis. On coarse roads it had some noise, other wise good.

I bought my Jeep Compass in May 2012 and love it. The salesman at Wanneroo was very helpful and very informative. The car is very economical, comfortable, drives well and looks great.
One thing which is a bit annoying is i cannot seem to find weather shields to suit this model.
All in all, i love my Jeep.

New Jeep Compass is a winner!
Dont know about those that have had a bad experience but my experience is nothing like theirs. I normally drive other new model 4WD SUVs during work. After test driving alot of new 4wd SUV's I ended up buying a new 2012 Jeep compass and have to say I am very happy with it. One of the best value SUVs on the market!
Nice and comfortable to drive. Very reliable. Good 4WD system, Quite on the road. Very stylish head turner with the new Cherakee looks! Good value for money compared to other 4WD SUVs
Not great fuel economy but not very different from alot of other 4WD SUV's, Living in Australia getting new parts may take time.

Salesmen are liars! And the car is falling apart!
I bought a Jeep! And it was the biggest mistake I've made. The salesman lied to us about the warranty to get us to buy it, now "conveniently" can't remember anything about it. Ongoing problems from day 1. Found discrepancies from plates to car details given by the dealer. If you are insistent on getting one, for what ever reason you can justify - make sure everything is in writing and don't believe a word the salesman says. We were sold the car as an ex demo, on the grounds of a full 3 year warranty, but when it came down to it Jeep wouldn...Read more
't honor the warranty. Only pro I can think of is it looked good. Major blind spots on front sides due to wide frames, found major rust after had a flat tyre (granted it was an ex demo, but we were assured it had not been on the beach). Front axle leak a recurring problem, suspension didn't last long and that's with NO off road driving. Biggest problem is it started popping out of gear and when we reported it, Jeep conveniently decided our 3 yr warranty was instead 2yrs and 11mths, so wouldn't cover the repairs.Similar opinion? Love it (so far)
I bought a Jeep! and couldn't be happier. Reaction from 13 year old granddaughter "O.M.G. Nanna". Mine is the 4x2 CVT Sport. It was purchased mainly to accommodate 3 grandkids across the back seat, however, have needed to purchase new narrower seats to do this, but it is do-able with a little fiddling (Infa-Secure Neon from BigW - the narrowest on the market, fit 2 of these plus a backless booster cushion). The sales lady needs to learn more about what she is selling though and thank goodness I love a challenge. I have found and downloaded...Read more
the Owners Manual and User Guides from the USA site cause the Australian manuals are a little too small for me to read quickly. Only a few minor differences, but has made life much easier. Have done less than 100kms so the engine is still tight, but that will improve with more driving. CVT takes getting used to, however, I had that in my Honda Jazz, so was aware what it is like and prefer it over the 4 - 6 speed autos. It is an acquired taste. Would like to see a range of accessories listed like they do overseas. Love the visability it gives me. Love the Uconnect bluetooth, this should be mandatory, not an option. Definitely needs more cubbies/storage pockets. I want weather shields for the windows but it would appear they are not available.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
