100 Series D110Mower is easy to use. maintenance is straightforward. Very poor paint finish on deck which will rust easily.Right hand plastic pulley/spindle cover wears against drive belt and have been replaced three times. Overall this is not a bad light use tractor and has only been used on flat 1.4 acre block.Suggest John Deere over better quality deck finish as an option as this is a very price sensitive market.
... Read moreExcellent mower for around two acres
100 Series D110I purchased this mower new in 2004 to look after 2 acres of lawn and paddock all in good condition. I chose the high back seat and 42 inch deck. I have not had any mechanical issues to date but did need to re-weld a bracket on the cutting deck in 2010 and the support brackets for the bonnet required strengthening around the same time. Both easy fixes!
I carry out an easy annual service which takes less than an hour and costs around $40. Blades have been replaced once and are still in good condition, belts are original. I have not had any issue
Very happy with this mower
100 Series D110We bought the 'deere' after reading some good reviews. It is a great mower for what we use it for. (1.5 acre gentle sloping block) Thought about a zero turn but couldn't justify the extra $$$. One feature I like is the adjustable seat so our kids can do the mowing for us!

100 Series D110Mower goes alright, but the paint job is shocking.
I have owned 3 John Deere 100 series Mowers, and all had a problem with the paint work peeing off in great chunks leaving bare metal to rust and retract from the trade in value. (See my review only posted July 2016.)
Hopefully JD have overcome the paint peeling issues.
July 4th, 2016 Update: John Deere upgrades painting plant
I am advised by John Deere (Aust) that $15million has been spent on upgrading their painting procedure to overcome the paint peeling problem.
I am about to purchase my 4th John Deere D110 Ride On Mower, and hopefully the new 2016 Model D110 will not have a paint peeling problem.

Good first ride on mower
100 Series D110I have had a John deer d110 for about 4 years. Its a great mower even the deck belt loose I still manage to mower grass for about 2 years. This year 2015 I have had to buy a new deck belt, new drive belt, new battery, new blades, new tension plate and new idler pulles. I'm not prepared to go to John deer and let them do all my repairing on the mower. It would cost a lot of money. Beside if I don't know I go on YouTube to find out about how to install belts and do my on service. Which I have been doing since I bought it in 2011. This is a great mower and I prepared to buy another John deer mower when the time is right.
Perfect
100 Series D110I've had this since new 2yrs ago and nothing has failed. I use it commercially and it's so easy to adjust, service and tough as nails. I just love mine. It's quick, cuts perfectly and just looks great. Whaddya expect, it's a Deere! I'd recommend it to anybody who's looking.
June 30th 2017 Update: The best small ride on out
I'm going to start by saying that this is my second D110. You can find my first review here in Product Review a little down the line. I didn't buy this latest one because the old one broke, I bought it because it made
... Read more financial sense. Figured I was going to have to fork out for a new deck one of these days and that cost pretty well the same as a new mower after I collected sale proceeds and tax deductions for the new one through my business as a lawn contractor I loved the old one, and this new one is pretty much identical except for: the grass chute is larger and I actually dislike this. It's just too large for no reason and gets in the way alot. The machine is physically larger now than it was previously. The fuel tank has a level now rather than just clear plastic. No biggie. The fuel tank is different. Not sure if it's larger yet but it's different. And the engine is 0.5hp smaller than previous. Which is negligable I think. It seems a tadd quieter because my old one roars like a nitrus hotrod So I never had any real issues with my last one (apart from just an old battery where it would crank but not ignite) and ine loose connector in the wiring harness where the mower would just die and nothing when trying to start it again. Which was solved by using a cable tie to hold it together. I enjoyed it so much that I've returned to purchase another. Compared to the Murray 38" cut I had previously to the JD, The JD is a complete workhorse. The Murray deck was constantly being welded (it was old when I took it on but still very flimsy) needed to be balanced every week or so, belts always flying off, things to fix. It was a nightmare so to have used the D110 for the past 3 years as a maintenance Gardener without any of these troubles they're tough. Real tough. It still looks almost new, I pull into the shed and sometimes wonder which is the new one. If I didn't know where each were parked I'd have to check closely.Everything I expected
100 Series D110This my third, and best, ride on mower. I've had it for about 3 months, and cut the lawn 3 times/week over summer. It's easy to drive, good wide cut, and very maneuverable. It starts instantly. Good size petrol tank. The gearbox make it very easy to control speed. Two things I don't like. 1. The seat position sometimes slides with fast stopping. 2. If you want to reverse, the engine cuts out if the cutting blade is still engaged, unless you press a button. What fool thought up this idea? I just bypassed the cutout system.
I'm yet to do any repairs, so for me, this will be an important test on how easy it is to work on, and availability of parts.
Poor paintwork and hydrostatic drive
100 Series D110I've owned 2 of these, both with paintwork peeling off after only a few months. The second purchase had the worst peeling. How hard can it be to provide a reasonable paint job? My other problem has been the hydrostatic drive. I've had it replaced 3 times in the first mower and once in the second. The mechanic said try not to run it for more than an hour as they get too hot and that's what kills them - as well as slopes. I've also found changing the oil regularly (every 100hrs) in the drive helps but its a bit of a mission to do that each time. Overall not a bad mower for the price - the kholer engine in the first mower was a ripper, shame they don't still use them.
Great for my Lawn
100 Series D110I have never owned a ride on before but after 6 months I can now say I love it. I have a new home with a fair bit of lawn for a residence but I have a large corner and a corner and all flat. This was the perfect buy for me.
I bought the mulcher and I sometimes have to use the hand on mower to pick up heavy droppings in the summer but only for those couple of months and only in the front yard. Everywhere else the Mulcher is sufficient. In fact I have to say that the wide cut of the ride on seems to flatten the yard out better than the hands o

Built in obsolesence
100 Series D110Graet lawn mower except for the final drive. it wears out quickly and needs to be fully replaced. I replaced mine with an American after market heavy duty (About $2300) Tuf Torque K66. Has real hardened gears and HD Hydraulic pump. Sare parts are exceedingly expensive eg $50 for a blade. Motor is strong but only buy the B&S intek 20HP. Battery lasts 12 months just. Engine service kit is about $80 for oil,2 spark lugs and air cleaner. Hour metre jumps a hour each time you start it so is pretty unreliable. Mine is the D111 automatic.
It is tough in body, I have a very hilly property and some pretty rough areas.
Final drive is absolute [censored word removed]. Cheap alloy gears and poor hydraulic pump. Very expensive parts/
