John Deere 100 Series D110
Blown head gasket at 67 hours. Bought it at Lowes in 2017. Dealer asking $400 to replace. Extremely disappointed with John Deere. There should be some class action taken against John Deere to have these recalled.
I brought my John Deer riding mower in 2022 from Lowes. The first year the head gasket blew. The second year the engine blew. The estimated cost of repairs: $1300 for the engine, shipping and labor.
This was my first John Deer and it’s definitely my last.
Purchased in June 2022 for $1,800.
Head gasket blown after 100 hours, blade spindles didn’t last, front tires worn. Now high compression issue. I had a sears rider for 15 years, no issues, sold it when I bought a Murray. I had the Murray tractor 14 years gave it to a neighbor. This D110 tractor didn’t kart 5 years!

Owned 5 years and at 175hrs started burning oil and blowing smoke. Have serviced it regularly, changed blades 5 times, belt twice and recently both spindles and pulleys at 175hrs. Deck vibrates regardless of balancing etc. Lights vibrate loose, engine cover cheap weak plastic hinges broke. Compared to my previous JD L110 with a Kohler engine did 500hrs and still running when I sold it on. But this piece of crap has Briggs and Stratton engine, absolutely faulty with all these bad reviews and 1000,s of others. Class action a must.
Purchased in October 2015 at Mowerland Bathurst for $3,380.

I thought I could trust this brand name but this mower is a piece of junk. Bought it brand new from an authorized J D dealer . At 40 hours the head gasket blew. Dealer says yeah the had some issues. Just hit 80 hours and guess what? Blown head gasket. I take very good care of my equipment because I can’t afford to buy a new mower. I guess it’s off to the Cub Cadet dealer. Very disappointed and annoyed
Purchased in August 2015 for $1,700.

I purchased my D110 brand new in Melbourne and its given me grief from day 1. It has 14 hours on it now and it barely starts, the engine surges and backfires constantly, I've only used it for my 1/4 acre property, the front steering is junk, the steering control arms have bent severely and the steering alignment is out. Don't get ripped of like me, i presumed that buying a USA built product would guarantee me quality but never again, there's days when i just want smash it with a hammer.
Purchased in May 2016 for $3,700.
Blew head gasket at 100 hours. Totally unacceptable. Never buy a John Deere again. This engine should have been recalled. Cost me 350 to repair. Dealer indicated they have seen a bunch of blown head gaskets. Why doesnt JD admit to defect and own up to the problem.
Purchased in April 2014 at Lowes for $1,699.

5 years old bought new in 2014. Serviced regularly. Crank case exploded today. Strongly advise not to purchase one of these. I will not buy another John Deere product. This will goto the tip.
This mower has been a money pit! I've owned it 4 years and had regular service with JD parts. I have a half acre yard and have gone through 5 blades, 1 mower deck, $350 parts just in the spring and now the motor is blown. Not worth the $1000 repair! I'll be trying a competitor brand!

Our d110 was bought in Western Australia on March 2015,and engine blew June 2022 with 39 hours on the clock, there is a hole in the block so it is not repairable.these engines are made in Mexico by people who work for $8 an hour and the poor quality has resulted in a premature major engine failure
Purchased in March 2015 for $3,500.
The mower is 7 years old with only 40 hours on it. I did regularly scheduled maintenance on it and kept it clean, and covered when not in use. Last week the motor blew....its out of warranty and going to cost $1000.00 to replace the motor.
Purchased in July 2012 at Lowes for $1,299.
I have a JD. D110 lawn tractor with 200 hours on the meter. I have already replaced 1 blade spindle and bushings in both front wheels. It appears that parts were not properly lubed when the mower was assembled.

Great machine, my second John Deere ride on. Easy to operate, cuts neat, easy DIY servicing. The new fuel gauge is a little inaccurate but going great so far. Happy customer
Purchased in September 2017 at Westernport Tractors for $2,850.
Comfortable mower and easy to use but Briggs engine is a massive problem. First engine blew the piston out the head at 30 hours. JD replaced the engine under warranty the replacement engine blew the head out after 5 hours. Massive waste of time and effort although JD did replace once. Very disappointing.
The mower is more comfortable to ride than our 20year old rover with a flat tyre that is still going. With only 53 hours work the John Deere d110 blown head gasket was very disappointing and costly. Not knowing if it will happen again, and with John Deere knowing the problem it will not be my next choice of ride on.
